Haven’t played this game in a while, but this is definitely one of my favorites of all time.
Shame PvP all but drops off after SL90-120, at least when I still played.

Grinding past that is kind of a huge pain. Most people just start a new character for a different experience at that point.
My favorite quote: “The Real Demon Souls Starts Here” As if it weren’t hard already!!!
just go to the place were you can kill the blue dragon with arrows, and kill the 3 black souls standing together, and use the ring that gives you more souls once you kill someone, and the spell that gives you extra souls for killing stuff also.
Love using the quote “my heart is breaking.” on the guy who got smashed on the gate

royalty is one of the best classes ever, you can kill most guys in 1 hit with their spell, and you get a ring to regenerate mana.
It’s one of the best starting out classes for sure. Magic pretty much dominates this game. Otherwise, every other class can be built as a mage.
Ya I thought about making a non spell character. Going to use a Bow and arrows to make up for magic. Maybe just use anti magic field for PvP.
Anti-Magic Field is hot. It beats down the generic BBS warrior mage builds and the Insanity Catalyst builds hardcore.
Me: *gets out my trusty Dragon Bone Smasher or Moonlight Sword
Him: *generic Insanity build with the stupid head wrap, goes to spam Fire Spray
Me: *points to Anti-Magic Field
Him: …fuck. *gets hacked in the face and OHKO’d by previously mentioned Dragon Bone Smasher
Soul Level 150 now, just took out NG++ Flamelurker.
I just need to hold the Insanity Catalyst and Blueblood Sword.
Wait wait… magic dominates this game?
… crap.
Not entirely, you can rock spellcasting people’s faces with Anti-Magic Field.
Huh? Did they fix the lag associated with Anti-Magic Field online? People used to not use it because it just pissed people off with the lag. Then again, it’s been a long while since I played.
But anyway, people are talking about Magic dominating against the CPU. Easier to not get hit if you are throwing Soul Rays from a distance, etc. Melee builds can rock in PvP, no worries. ( <3 BBS )
bought the game. So i died on the first boss and now i have to work myself up the castle after being ressed right?
Yep. All the way from the beginning. You did at least open the gate after picking up the Soul Ring, right?
huh?
Umm I died. Was rezzed on a fountain, saw a guy sitting near a glowing wall, went through warp to a castle, started going up castle, died again haha, repeat x 5 haha?
he assumed you died on the real first boss, I’m pretty sure what you’re talking about is an area that you only go when you start a new game and now you will never see again. don’t worry you were supposed to die against that guy (if you beat him you would have died soon after). But yeah the game is very tough and expect you die many many times.
Demon’s Souls is the only game where dying is a big part of the game, and has its benefits.
So can anyone tell me the point of staying alive? I mean, sure, you get the extra base health, but that’s not so huge when your health bar is pretty big either way.
I don’t see a reason to stay alive. The cons (quicker enemy detection, vulnerable to random PvP, losing White Tendency when you die) outweigh the pros (100 percent health vs 50 w/o Soul Ring in soul form).
Being alive allows you to defeat a boss with the help of Blue Phantoms and complete the level. If you fight a boss as a BP, you’ll come back to life, but you still have to fight the boss in your own world. Not sure if that can be considered a pro or a con…I guess neither.
Being alive means that you can suicide in a world to lower its world tendency toward black, which is useful if you aren’t using the Urbain trick for infinite E. Eyes.
