if you don’t die in dark souls, you’re doing it wrong
also 8k souls is nothing to lose, i lost 72k in DSII and i got that right back real quick (fucking phantom, would’ve fucked him up too if it weren’t for that meddling knight)
it’s all about being patient and feeling your surroundings
Luicipher go back to the Moonlight Butterfly after reversing you hollow and summon Beatrice to help you, her summon sign is under the stairs and steam rolls the butterfly (lol look at me giving advice hahaha).
Also the best advice i can give you is not to fret over losing souls. Eventually you’ll realize Souls come cheap, you can farm 20k of them in 5 minutes half way through the game, losing souls just isn’t that big a deal really. It feels painful and like it should hurt but you eventually learn it’s not as huge a deal as it seems like.
What would you say is the best piece of lore? Just curious. I mean obviously not everyone is going to find the same pieces of narrative equally interesting but I always like to hear why people like the certain parts that they do.
The more I think on it, the more I’m starting to theorize that Natasha is a malformed Dusk of Oolicile.
Both of them were royalty. You find Dusk at the bottom of the abyss after saving her past self, and even though she claims it was Artorias who once saved her from the Abyss she also claims that the knight who did save her has a stark likeness to the player. Which seems to be the result of an altered timeline.
Considering Natasha is a fragmented piece of Manus, it even says that the queen mysteriously came from a far away land to meet King Vendrick. She was a pure embodiment of darkness that managed to enforce her will vicariously through the king, posing to be his queen when she was really just tricking him into starting a war with the giants. Among other things.
Similar to what King Allant did with The Old One, Vendrick then builds an empire upon the power of the giants. All of them (but one) being eradicated by the war. And all the while Natasha is satisfying her almost instinctual lust for power, as if being driven simply by her covetous obsession to restore herself to what she was once a part of. Therefore, it would appear to make sense that one of these fragments used Dusk as a vessel.
Look at Nashandra’s crown. The top of it in peculiar.
And notice how it resembles Dusk’s entire headpiece.
Her human form even looks kind of similar to dusk. This isn’t a good picture but, it’s the only one I can find of Nashandra when she’s not in her true form…
Vendrick simply being so close to her all those years drained him of his life. It made the curse he already had decay his entirety even faster. She was literally and subtly sapping the life from him and the power he gained from the giants until all that was left is what you find at the bottom of the Undead Crypt. This is why simply being near her slowly drains your life, this is why her painting in one of the halls of Drangelic Castle can kill you just by being near it, and this is why she wants you to take the throne in Vendrick’s place.
This is also why you kill The Throne Watcher and Defender, and why she only appears after they are defeated. Nashandra acts a role similar to that of Kaathe while the Emerald Herald acts a role similar to Kingseeker Frampt.
They look nothing alike, what were you smoking and where can I get some.
Also, being near nashandra doesn’t drain you, she summons spheres of darkness that syphon your life and curse you. It’s more like super powered toxic mist clumps which eat away at your soul.
The white dress only looks similar because it’s just that, a plain white dress–there’s no connection from what you’ve presented. While it is an interesting theory that nashandra is the largest piece of manus which latched onto dusk what you’ve presented to support your theory doesn’t stand up to the lightest breeze or smattering of rain.
Actually now that I look at it more, the head piece looks more like it represents Manus’ antlers than anything. The placement makes more sense too. It could honestly just be a regular ass crown too.
I’m aware that it’s a far fetched theory and I seriously doubt it’s actually true. The shit about Nashandra herself is true however, I was just trying to make sense of a possible connection between the two characters.
Nashandra is a piece of Manus. The fact she has human resemblance leads me to believe in the possibility that this darkness could be using someone as a vessel. The game’s lore also states that Nashandra was already royalty in the land that she came from before Drangelic…which fits the profile for Dusk. I mean, Manus was once the Furtive Pygmy. Why does it not make sense for it to find a new vessel once the old one was destroyed?
I mean yeah the crown thing and life drain observations are far fetched, but there are way less likely related elements in DaS1 lore that I later on learned actually had many things to do with each other. Like Havel’s connections to Seath, or that the Bed of Chaos is actually a failed attempt at re creating the first fire.
