Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Finally beat this game, hands down it’s the best Souls game for a lot of different reasons. It took out a lot of the tedium that was in the first two games and level’s feel so much more polished. Finally we get a more “complete” game that doesn’t feel rushed towards the end like the other games do (I am looking at you demon ruins… I don’t care what anyone says, they could’ve polished up that place with a bit more time)

I also agree about SL 150 being the pvp level, it’s not that hard to attain during the first NG and there’s still a decent variety in the builds you can make.

PVP is so great

Yeah twitch shitters pushing the pvp to sl150 meta will cause me to drop the game and never look back.

Like the creep in das was bad but 150 gives you everything, that high you might as well be at max sl.

I dont even know what max level is in dark souls 2, im guessing its still 700. Theres always going to be the cool kids who pick a different SL to pvp. Like how all the hipsters SL are at 135 in dark souls 1.

SL 150 just seems like it was picked as a knee jerk response to the perceived increase in mandatory stats. This was before people knew that END hit diminishing returns at 20, before they realized ADP wasn’t that great and before we knew poise sucked, making VIT kind of meh. Mages don’t even really need much ATT now since southern ritual band+2 exists.

You might want to ask Brandon, Peeve and Yukaslegion. Each one of them get like 1000 viewers every time they stream. Each of them held a poll in each one of their stream and every voted for SL150.

The SL might change once everyone starts using the new megamule, since its already out for PS3

150 is pushed by twitch shitters because they want to cast all the spells with 38 adaptability, aka they want to be overpowered super sayain bullshit wankers.

135 in Das came from the japanese who wanted havel mom builds so people who have their heads up the JP scene’s ass wanted havel mom builds too.

Even in das 135 wasn’t as bullshit as 150 das2 is, even with all the shitty netcode I still believe that das2 would have good pvp if it was like sl80.

80 might be too low, but I know that 150 is way too high–150 is where you get the bullshit instant kill hex+sorc combos while they can roll with impunity.

As it stands the engine itself has a lot of holes that need to be patched even at low level–like how melee can’t really punish estus, how backstep avelyn is free damage against melee, how casters can poop out great melee damage, all of poise.

I know that I personally get salty when people say, “dark souls 2 is made for the americans UGH, americans are so shit at the game,” but twitch players are literally bad, they want to be able to roll spam into great resonant soul for free kills, they want to mixup GRS with soul spears and soul swords, without sacrificing mobility, equipment, or melee options.

Also the whole matchmaking system needs to be cracked solidly before things can really get opened, soul memory still is confusing and unclear–some people report that SM has no impact on pvp during NG+ and beyond–and of course due to the nature of souls we’re not going to get anything official out of from.

It’s funny because some people I discuss souls with believe that a bunch of pointers from das will work in das2 for ce–which is a possibility I wouldn’t rule out. I guess come late april we’ll discover what pc das2 will truly be like.

I know a lot of people are banking that the entire game will look better and load way faster (seriously das2 has terrible loading issues, like jesus christ why can’t japan make games) the load times alone warrant a purchase once the price drops–which is a 180 from me having originally said that I’ll buy both day one, but it’s just not good enough to warrant that double buy. A shame really…

Beat Ancient Dragon as Phantom, but I can’t seem to pull it off again as Human.

You can kill him before even entering the area by manually aiming your bow to the glowing red eyes below the narrow walkway leading to the fog gate.

To fight him straight up it’s the normal dodge out of the way of his big attacks and retaliate. The only thing you need to learn is all the spell patterns he uses. One requires you to not be locked on and block facing the camera since the spell goes over you and then comes back in towards Manus hitting your back.

[details=Spoiler]You can also summon Sif to help you if you freed him in the caves prior to the fight, but he doesn’t help much.

Lot of heated PvP discussions… I’m still having fun rolling and owning shit while sunbroing it up to be worried about PvP atm.

LOL@that speed run vid… Queen Latifa.

PvE is solid, just ignore pvp until it gets patched.

Sometimes the only way to win is not to play.

Most people in this thread think ADP gives more i frames and makes parries faster but I am not so sure after reading this:

http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/agility#.UzY4olcmzPo

In the link there is a chat where you can ask if ADP gives more i frames and the consensus is most don’t know and others say agility gives more i frames but it’s barely noticeable.

Well it says on that link you gave that you can gain as much as 2 i-frames if it’s maxed out lol

What it actually does is definitely still pending, but I hope someone finds out SOMETHING solid or that From just says what the heck it does for once.

From that Murakumo user

I need those wepons in my life

Checkout emarrel it’s not counting frames, but it’s the best we have for now.

You DEFINITELY do get more iframes, it’s just not sure how much. Also you recover from rolls faster.

Also yami is so smart and godlike, the stuff he’s doing is nuts, crazy redirect backsteps and shit. I love this guy

FROM pls let me buy cracked red eyes in ng

Hmm.

Not sure if people were aware of this, but it’s really useful in both pvp and pve.

Cracked red eyes are 10k souls in NG+

Phantom ripostes don’t work in PvE, it’s likely a player collusion bug with the actual bashing hitboxes and the netcode. Suffice to say something is funky when pvp gets involved.
