Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

and this has what to do with dark souls? Or are you just mad cause I dont like your boyfriend?

Manus is easy to hit once he pounds the ground with his hand. You can summon sif also, there is a secret wall next to the 2nd elevator

welp

If you have a melee build the easiest thing you can do is when he goes for the hands down swipe come in and hit like two three kinds, roll away. if he jumps all the way back he will go for his AoE move. Haveing Sif as a distraction helps. every now and again scan the area for is dark absorb move, use the pendant if you have it at this point or simply roll twoards them right before they hit so you can go through them.

Was enjoying your post of your play through so I did a melee build from scratch which made me sad when certain people died in game. So I did the game as Siegmeyer so I could finish his adventure completely, I beat the game as Solaire and killed Kalaamete as Ornstein. But yeah for Manus and Artotrias and pretty much every other boss in the game I was Siegmeyer my upgrades were a +10 Swei. no upgrade Catarina armor, Havels Ring and Steel Regents Ring. That was all I used and every boss went down to the mighty knight of Catarina!

Holy hell I cannot stop laugh from that Anvil Riposte/ Backstab

It is absolutely comical.

I’m in there.

Pray for me Bruvs, I think I’m gonna start as a deprived.

I finally beat Traitor. Had to perfectly set up my attacks to prevent healing, since it pops off so quickly and for so much.

I’m getting rocked by D. Shrine’s boss. I learned a bit about its attack patterns, but is there a good setup to fight it? Should I respec for it?

lmao @ the last part

Is there a Balder Side Sword-esque weapon in DSII? Just beat the game and I didn’t come across any long sword that had the same kind of moveset.

Interesting, but I meant to say what “type” of damage. In the context of what rings would reduce damage taken from miracles.

My mistake, To my knowledge, “white stuff” miracles are usually magic damage.

On an unrelated note. I was messing around with the twin swords before heading to work today and I was pleasantly surprised with their perfomance. I initially discounted twin swords as a gimmicky weapon, and I was right. But it turns out they are really good gimmick weapons. I like to think of them as a richard’s rapier but with a wide and shallow arc and less telegraphed startup.

Its really devastating for stun locking things specially when paired with the stone ring and Is amazing for status ailments whether through upgrades or buffs. 3 swings and you have a room full of poisoned/bleeding enemies with enough surplus stamina to roll away or keep up the pressure. Damn shame that the dragonrider twin swords cant be buffed though.

You have to:

  1. Let go, the pvp is awful, the dedicated servers are awful, just let all the salt flow out your body and accept that patches will come and water will find its level.
  2. Get gud, mages are strong but they’re not untouchable.

A lot of what makes mages seem untouchable is how shitty rolling is and how varied the casting times are.

Example:

Great Resonant soul is ridiculously fast and hits at about 800-700 damage (with about 400-200 chip through shield blocks)
Most soul spears will do similar levels of damage, but cast slightly slower and finally
Great soul weapon will do a ton of damage but is really slow.

Now, the big problem with the above, is you if you correctly dodge one of them, you’ll eat damage from the other, so guessing prematurely is terrible and you’ll just die. This also stacks up with pursuers or homing soul masses as while on their own either are very very simple to dodge, if the mage is smart and plays well and times things correctly you will eat a bunch of damage if you try to roll. Furthermore some people will be lagging such that you can’t roll on reaction to the spell cast chime, in which case good luck getting those yomi rolls.

Also, if it is a good connection you really need to know your roll’s move set, like with a greatsword you need to roll to your right, their left, so the start of your swing will clip them before they get either their iframes up, or their hitbox out of your swing, if you roll to your left (their right) you’ll just burn stamina pointlessly if you buffer that r1 out of your roll.

Turtling isn’t viable against these mages either unless you have a long range weapon and can correctly yomi attack to break their casting animation.

Turtling isn’t viable in general unless you’re very tight with spacing and guard breaking (which can be tricky because I’ve had the dedicated servers eat my 8 input (using anime notation here, so guard break is 8R1) which will result in a whiff and eating a great resonant soul.

Bottom line for PVP? It’s trash, grind out those NG++ etc etc and get your pvp characters muled up with tons of effigies, items (upgrade those armour sets and weapons)

Also this PvE… I’m heartbroken, needless to say I will be reneging on buying PC day one–I’ll pick that up later when the pvp is better and hopefully during a steam sale. You can feel how it’s a different director at the helm of the game :’(

The only PVP I even care about anymore is being a Ratbro, and how I can make intruders lives more and more terrible.

Smelter Demon is defeated. I didn’t need those fire resistance boost items/ring. I picked up a Gyrm greatshield earlier in the game. Noticed that it take no damage when you block and carries a 100% fire resistance. Took a couple tries but Smelter was slain. One match I lost simply because of poor stamina management. He fell me in TWO hits because I didn’t have the stamina to block his strikes. Old Iron King is next. I did lose to him previously. I rolled into that damn hole that was there.

Ratbro is so pointless though, you don’t get any rewards, they don’t lose souls, they don’t hollow, they spawn back in their world where you grabbed 'em from, no enemies respawn…

You might aswell just chameleon troll all day

Apparently the ring they offer not only silences your footstep but takes away the invasion notification while invading. There’s also a ring that turns you into white phantom lol.

Sooo invade -> turn into a object -> slowly MGS your way to the fog door/scout for the guy. YAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

…but after some research it may have been deconfirmed. DAMMIT.

Was watching the streams today, and everyone is having a hard time invading on xbox.

If you want to watch people practice speed runs these guys are pretty good

right now Noobest has the best dark souls 2 time

Pretty much this. It’s not even dodging the spells I really have an issue with. It’s that mages don’t really have to give anything up for awesome melee damage as well as spell damage. Whoever argued that pvp should move to sl 150 is a retard, especially since endurance now hits diminishing returns as soon as 20. Mages can have 40 str/dex and 40 int/faith with all the hp they need and all the stamina they need. There is no point in being pure melee at that level and it makes the builds boring as fuck. Builds aside, the servers are terrible. Somehow they seem worse than the first game.

That aside, I do love the game. I don’t have any issues with the PVE. I only criticize because I love pvp and want it to be better.

All bosses speed run (03:15:06)

ive seen that guy before in dark souls 1

Noobest speed run 1:44:47

People on twitchtv voted for SL pvp, and like 75% of them voted for 150. So thats on them

Meh, it is what it is then. In other news the sun sword is awesome. Having A scaling in dex and str is pretty boss. I get like +175 ATR with 40 dex and 16 str. Throwing any kind of buff on it makes it ridiculous.

I’ve been experimenting with ADP. Bumped it from my base of 6 to 16 and I have to be honest I notice no difference at all. I’m of the opinion that people claiming it adds a lot of i-frames are suffering from the placebo effect. I’ll try pushing it higher, but I have no solid way of testing anything unfortunately.

Ya theres nothing you can do, everyone on twitch is voting for SL150. The reason is cause everyone is saying you have more options. I havent seen anyone use a pure melee build, cause you can take out a bow or cross bow and shoot at mages. Couple nights ago Brandon got 1 shotted by duel raw avelyns. Guess he didnt know how much damage they did.
