Go for it Phantom.
The smelter demon will be most likely one or two shotting you no matter what unless your armor and shield have really good fire res.
Not sure if youre still fighting him but I may as well share some tips. Wall of text so ill spoiler i guess.
[details=Spoiler]I practiced alot on this guy and suicided when he was down to 5% hp since he looks like hell give me trouble come NG+ onward.
Tested with the following playstyles: int caster, faith caster, claymore and halberd.
• The dark and magic weapon buffs dont seem to add any damage agaisnt him, dont bother with these.
• Lightning spear and emit force are really good against him, for some reason he gets hit twice by emit force
• I prefer faster casting spells like dark orb as int just because it recovers faster. I compensate by hitting him twice on big openings
• One handed halberd R1 is unsafe as fuck, only use if you intend to hit him twice, two handed R1 is fine. All claymore R1s are ok.
• His thrust Is a free punish/estus even on block. Goad him into doing this if you need to heal by hanging back
• Dont bother with summons unless youre trying to get that thing with lucatiel or you’re into that jolly co-op thing. More health = more chances of you making a mistake
• He can finish his two hit combo in three ways:
Thrust (delay your roll as much as possible, two free hits if you rolled one hit if you blocked or estus if you need to heal)
He does a jumping ground stab that ends in a delayed explodey thingie, goad him into exploding by walking a bit close then rolling away (shoot him once if you’re a caster caster or heal up/ refresh your grass buff if youre melee)
Nothing (confirm the first two then hit him once, estus is probably not safe here)
• Overhead into flame wave needs two side rolls to dodge if youre far so dont think youre safe after just one roll, the hitbox expands after a bit.

going naked gives you almost Dark wood grain status rolls minus the insane invincibility but the distance covered in a short time is so good that you can roll through most of what he throws out anyways.
strafe him to the left. His sweeping l -> r swing always has at least one follow up. Use poison and see how many hits it takes you to get him poisoned, then just back off and dodge. His patterns are simple and get some fire resist shit if he is still too tough (use the pyromancy chick in town to get the temporary power ups and there is a ring of fire somehwere)
Lightning spear deals around 400~700 damage depending on what you fight. If you unlock the cleric trainer as soon as youre done with the first pursuer fight (which makes sense since the dragon rider is probably the easiest boss ever.) Almost all encounters before drangelic castle become a joke.
Emit force deals 250~400 damage and hits bigger mobs twice with the second hit dealing around 100~150 damage
Heavenly thunder deals 250~350 damage per bolt but is pretty random so youre probably better off getting two stacks of emit force at this point.
To put things in perspective. with 25 faith and 150 lightning adjustment (+3 archdrake chime from felkin), Lightning spear hits the iron keep knights for 90% health and captains for 60%. 2 shots of emit force deal similar damage for knights and 2~3 hit captains
It’ll hurt other enemies slowly just by being near them. Would be really useful in PVP against melee builds if you didn’t have to eat at least 3 Lifegems to offset it.
They should have combined it with power within then I would actually use it. I’m not even sure if its in this game though. You could somewhat offset the damage by using a ring that increased the spell duration which lowered the damage you took over a longer period of time. Testing it in this with immolation I didn’t notice a difference, but only tried it once.
So yesterday I took down Knight Artorias. That guy is fun, I look forward to the next time I get to him. I have a tank build at the Princess Bonfire already. I moved on past him Artorias and into the Cave of the Abyss. That place reminds me of Tome of the Giants except viewing distance is nicer. I made it to Manus but he’s been beatin my ass down. I got his melee moves pretty much figured out for the most part but his spells are kickin my ass. The close on that rains down from above i can sometimes block through but not always. Backing out of it fast enough is kind of tough to but i need to get the tell for it down better. It’s the 360 one i can’t figure out at all. It comes from behind so i can’t tall when to dodge…I dunno if anyone got advice for that move but if so I’m listening.
Otherwise i spent the last two days building a Tank. I just killed Ornstein and Smough again (This time I killed Ornstein first and got Smough second, he’s a lot easier then Ornstein.
Took down a couple bosses again. Scorpioness, The Baneful Queen, and that caster enemy in the church. The Bastard Sword is UNRIVALED. It now stands as a Supreme Weapon: +10 state. Time for our rematch Smelter Demon. He does have me worry a bit. I’ll need some superior armor soon.
And every time he hits that button he’s just showing his true salt more and more.
I wonder when he’ll actually realize that no one gives a right fuck about any if his posts. The dude has some serious denial going on. Can’t wait to see the inevitable salt induced coma he goes into.
Isn’t that right, AlanChugsDicks and/or Cocks?
Martian, don’t partake in the flagging nonsense. I’d hate to see you get banned over that guy. Use the flags for what they’re intended for, and only that. This goes for both of you. When a mod catches wind of this misuse, no punches will be pulled… It’ll be straight bans for both of you.
If he didn’t want flags he shouldn’t have started flagging people all over the site for simple differences in opinion. I’m not doing anything besides giving back what he’s giving me. -shrug-
If the mods can’t see why this guy needs the banhamer, then this is all I can and will do.
