Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

After exiting the elevator to the crows nest, look at the top of the crumbling buildings, you’ll see an item on the roof, that’s the key. The Peculiar Doll is used later in Anor Londo to access the Painted World of Ariamis.

I just beat all 4 Old Ones. How do I get to the castle?

Spoiler

Shrine of Winter.

Btw, during that little exhibition, I accidentally came across the Smelter Demon… Yeaaaaaa, I’m not beating him with a Fire Longsword +7. Gonna have to farm that area until I get at least an Uchigatana.

Does anyone know where to get the other katana that are shown in the loading screen?

Spoiler

anyone know how to get felkins armor set? I already purchased all his spells and spammed “talk” with him to no effect.

Spoiler

please dont tell me that I have to kill him for it. He reminds me too much of my old mate Laurentius

I found a list of all the katana on GFaqs

[details=Spoiler]1. Uchigatana - Sold by McDuff in Lost Bastille. 10 Str (E) and 16 Dex ( B ) 110 (Starting base damage) - 220 (Max base damage)

  1. Washing Pole - Found in the Dragon Shrine or NG++ Pursuer. 18 Str (E) and 20 Dex ( B ) 120-240. Notes: VERY LONG and very fragile. Only 20 Dur.

  2. Blacksteel Katana (good alone, not for dualwielding though) - Dropped by alonne knights of Iron Keep. 14 Str (N/A) 25 Dex (A) 95-190

  3. Chaos blade - NG+ Lost Sinner (Very hard I’ve heard) 12 Str (N/A) 25 Dex ( B ) 106-265. Notes: Hardest hitting katana but user takes damage for every successful hit. You can exploit that with the Old Sun ring to explode in a combo, I think.

  4. (My live for you is like a truck) Berserker Blade - Dropped by possible red phantom in Belfry Sol. 18 Str (D) and Dex ( B ) 160-240.

  5. Manslayer - Found in Shrine of Amana. 11 Str (E) and 18 Dex ( B ). 153-230. Notes: Built in poison effect 67-100.

  6. Darkdrift - Gotten from Grave Warden Agdayne once in possession of the King’s Ring after talking with him. Or just kill him and buy it from melentia (I’m a guy on the internet, not a blue sentinel). 12 Str (N/A) and 28 Dex ©. 115-230. Notes: Only 20 durability, but it’s strong attack goes through shields and it looks cool.[/details]

Yea I found it when I left. Was on top of that crumbling church building right next to the nest.

Eh I’ve looked up a couple things, usually when i get stuck and wander for an hour. Don;t have the patience to just be wandering around with no idea where to go, that’s a waste of my time. Otherwise figuring almost all of it out for myself.

Yea I found it. Thanks man. Found that painting to. That was a pain in the ass hahaha. Good Souls int here tho, I leveld up quite a few times trying to get the hell out of there.

So I seriously over slept yesterday, thus i spent pretty much all night and all morning playing. I got from the Spider Demon Boss Bitch (Quelaag I think her name was) all the way to Ornstein and Smough. Anor Lando is boss as fuck. I really like this place, very cool. So my trip started with going back down into Blight Town and finding that spider nest with the boss. She killed me 3 or 4 times but I eventually took her down. She was cool, no boss as made me sprint and run as much as she did. After her I rang the bell and then explored around down there, found her sister, upgraded my flask then headed into The Demon World (I think that’s what it was called) with all the lava and shit. There doesn’t seem to be too much down there except that ugly as fuck lava…thing…Name was Ceaseless something, I don’t remember exactly. I passed through his Fog Gate and he didn’t seem particularly interested in me so I poked around and found the Gold Trim gear. Man he was interested in me then, dude was PISSED I took those clothes. He one shotted me with his arm, I never even figured out how to hurt him lol. I got some cool gear tho so I was happy. In fact I have been running a combination of that head piece and chest piece, with the Ninja Legs and the Crimson Robe Hands from a set I found exploring the rest of Blight Town when I was leaving. So yea finished up exploring the Lava cave, the spider cave and Blight town then headed into Sens Fortress. That place is from the mind of an evil evil son of a bitch, but in a good way unlike Blight Town. That place is hard and devious and just fucked up in general, but was really fun getting through it all. I also did my first played Summon for the boss of that place which was sick as hell. Because I had the player and an NPC Summon tho he was really easy, went down in like 1:30 or so with no deaths. From there it was that killer as view reveal of Anor Lando, that was bad ass. I found my way into the church, those Ninja-ish dudes in white robes suck when there’s more then one of. One melees you while the other just throws daggers at your ass lol. Assholes. I foundmy way to th ground floor of the church and cleared those guys out by using the bow the pull em one by one. Then I got that painting Skeletroll mentioned and examined it and fuckin thing pulled me in! Getting around in there was a little tough at first but man the souls where plentiful. Those Zombie things that use the Spartan Shield Formation are cool and easy to farm. With that said FUCK those Skele Monsters in the basement witht he wheels or whatever. Man those sons of bitches fuckin suck, uhg. Eventually got through all that bullshit tho, and made it to the boss but she didn’t agro on me when i went through the door. I even got pretty close to her but nuthin. I decided to check her room out and i guess i activated a cut scene that had me jumpin off a cliff and bam was out of the painting. Will be finding time to head back in there at some point. Got back tot hat revolving stair case and made my way to the big main castle building. Getting through there was fun, tho I hate the white demon lookin mofos, they have too much knock back if there isn’t wall behind em you can only hit em once, your second attack wiffs, was pissin me off lol. Those Silver Knights are fun tho, I can Parry>Riposte their asses pretty damn well. Found a Black Smith there to thank god, both my swords where feelin the nights work as was my gear. Eventually tho got all the shortcuts in there open, and even took a shot at fighting the guy who killed the Firelink Firekeeper (Lutrec i think his name was). I was able to kill his mage and his lancer but that dude just tanked all my attacks and by the time it was just him i had very little health and he took me out. I decided to move on and come back to him when i was stronger but quickly found the double team of Ornstein and Smough to be a bit of brick wall. I tried them 4 or 5 times and almost got Smough killed once but never managed to get one of them. I’d been playing a long time by that point so i turned it off lol.

Dude you are gonna love catacombs on your way to Tomb of the Giants. You love wheel skellies now wait until that stretch hell depending what system and lvl you are I might make things interesting for you down there. ;3 In the mean time pvp on demon souls hooooooooooo. honestly cant quit the game even with the new one out I always go back for like an hour aday just to give people grief. Even with 1lvl runs on both Demons & Dark, Demons still has my heart. By the way has anyone reported doing a sl 1run in 2 yet?

Ceaseless Discharge freaks out when you pick those up because you’re stealing his dead sister’s robes.

And then, as the player, you can kill him.

This game never really explains how much of a dick your character can actually be in terms of the story, lol.

Yea I’m lookin forward to really digging into the lore here once I’ve got the majority of this play through under my belt, I know people say you gotta find the story in this game yourself, but man you really gotta dig, which is pretty damn dope. Will be doing that myself.

You’d be surprised how much insight you gain just reading item descriptions.

Every time I get something I haven’t seen before, the first thing I do is read its description.

You really start being able to piece things together yourself. Such is one of the many incredible virtues of the Souls games.

So, apparently Mundane weapons have massive scaling off your LOWEST stat. This makes them super useful for high level characters with stats close to uniform.

Define mundane. Like, no attributes or elemental typing?

Mundane scales with your lowest stat meaning at a high level it’ll have some insane modifier like +400

What kinds of weapons are mundane? Like, what’s an example?

Mundane is an infusion option in Dark souls 2 like Lightning, enchancted, Magic, Fire, etc.

Regarding the areas you can’t normally walk on in the Iron Keep.

I believe you have to set up a lot of health regen to survive it. Like, use a bunch of Lifegems and put on the Ring of Restoration to offset the damage you take. Haven’t tried it, but that’s my theory.

You need a lot of hp and fire resistance.

That’s it? No regen shenanigans?

The amount of damage the fire does can’t be regained through life gems. With high fire res it might be possible, but with medium to low you take like 25% per second.
