Getting the CE on ps3 (Want the Figure for my collection)
Oh man it’s only 3 weeks away.
About the T rating, the devs have said IIRC, that they we never aiming for a T or whatever(well Japan has a different rating system, but yeah) so the T isn’t from any intentional style changes, it just ended up that way.
Reminds me of the flood. from Halo.
I’m more than aware of the factors that make the souls games great.
All I was saying is that I hope this atmosphere isn’t lost. The games have never really been too violent in comparison to a lot of other games, but if the age rating drops from M to T then I don’t think it’s unwarranted to at least be a little concerned.
The game still feels like a Souls game in terms of the gameplay. I’ve gathered that much from the beta. What I’m hoping is that the sense of hopelessness, and some of the harsher dark tones of the game aren’t lost. I want to see places even more hopeless than Valley of Defilement. And if the game is rated T, it gives me the suspicion that we’re not going to see anything that dark again.
We’ll probably never get anything like the Valley of Defilement
We kind of did in DaS, even though it was smaller and much less gruesome. So I’m hoping they make it into a sort of running tradition.
I’m hoping this area called “Black Gulch” offers me something similar, but I’m not getting my hopes up especially after the news on the new rating.
Blight town was a poor mans Valley of Defilement.
Maybe we’ll get something like VoD in DaS2 that will just have you filled with dread the entire time through it.
I’m debating bumping my ps3 pre-order up to a CE for the figure mostly–I’m just starting to get suspect about spending $180 on “just a game”
(because obviously I’ll need pc day one too for that 60 fps souls action)
Well it comes with a silk map of the game, a sound track, dlc (?), Art book, and a 12 inch figure.
Just depends if you think all that is worth another 60
The dragon outfit is awesome!
Anyways I might need to drop all my items to someone on here so they can drop it to my new character.
could always make a town worse then blight town, just have it toxic you and lose double the life
I don’t think the map + figure + artbook + soundtrack are worth the $60
But as you pointed out there’s not nearly enough licensed souls swag. I’m leaning towards not getting the CE and then just buying some unlicensed shirts in like a year from now, that way the spending is spread out.
THe figure alone is worth about $35 itself.
Since Dark Souls 2 is launching soon I think it’s only appropriate to have a moment of silence for our day 0 victims forever lost in the salt mines next to the valley od the drakes. RIP you won’t be missed.

So far im pretty disappointed with Dark Souls 2.
Inventory and status screen look like complete ass
Pvp is underwhelming as it is right now with the return of the ever shitty return of the Dark souls poise system, and this RNG dmg is ass.
Chariot boss…By far the weakest boss i’ve ever seen in any game this gen. [details=Spoiler]You pull a god damn switch and beat on it while it stands around and occasionally flails around.[/details]
Everything about the game feels faster, yet slower at the same time. Sounds weird but yea. Feels more optimized on the fps side, but doing everything just feels and looks slower.
Breaking all the stats up was retarded.
Heavy weapons still feel like ass compared to the fast dex weapons.
Dual Swordsman seems utterly pointless since dual wielding is still pretty ass. Maybe I just wasn’t using it right.
Warrior was pretty fun.
Didnt try the other classes since I only had a couple hours to play.
Kick seems to be replaced by some slow ass upward push.
Lifegem is insanely op.
No more riptoise?
The spawning black phantoms are a nice novelty thats going to wore off for me after the second time.
Game is really fucking dark.
Roll seems to have lost invulnerability frames.
Skeleton Lord was a pretty shitty boss too.
Game also has some input delay thats really fucking annoyign to work with most of the time.
What a simple but fucking epic trailer.

My SL1 run is going great. I got +5 fire club, +5 fire light crossbow, +4 ascended flame, +5 divine club, time to clear out sens…
How’s it progressing? I’m doing one at the moment, and am at Anor Londo. I’ve got +5 Lightning & +7 Fire Reinforced Clubs, a +5 Divine Hand Axe, a +5 Magic Light Crossbow, +5 Ascended Pyromancy Flame, and +5 Lightning and Fire Heater Shields, along with the Grass Crest Shield (+10).
This playthrough is making me amazed at just how great the Heater Shield is. Light, stable, 100% physical block, and a small shield’s parry window. How have I never used one before?!
Ornstein and Smough up next. I’m frankly scared of them. I’ve even done the Four Kings, Stray Demon, Pinwheel, and run through the Tomb of Giants to light the bonfire (ready for warping) as displacement activities…

[A]s you pointed out there’s not nearly enough licensed souls swag…
There is a shocking lack, it’s true. I have a couple of t-shirts from Redbubble and a nice ‘Welcome to Lordran’ poster from Etsy, but some official stuff would be nice… #darksoulslego
I’d pay any amount of money for a shirt with this on it.

Or this.

I didn’t really like the voice they chose for the narration. Feels too generic. Like he should be narrating some new action movie with lots of guns and explosions.
Still a dope trailer, though. That area where he’s fighting the drake looks like Valley of Drakes on steroids. Hopefully it is.

That’s what I’m hoping too. I remember the first time I played Dark Souls and entered The Valley of Drakes thinking “fuck this for now” only to find out it’s nothing more than a shortcut later.

What a simple but fucking epic trailer.
A Dark Souls II trailer that used more scenes from the first game than the one it’s supposed to be advertising…
