My first few playthroughs of Demon’s Souls I didn’t look up anything.
I’ll tell you what though, on this play through (after my long hiatus) I’ve found that this game is pretty darn easy once you get homing missiles and other spells.
First playthroughs were completely blind, didn’t even look up weapon upgrade paths. After that I checked all the shit I missed and planned some weapon paths better.
I completely missed the Painted World of Ariamis in my first playthrough of Dark Souls.
I checked how to get fists because I wasn’t interested in the game until I found out that fists were a weapon and that you could essentially punch everything into oblivion.
Man was Sif ever a pain in the arse trying that shit, sheild makes all the difference vs him.
In regards to the Boss in 1-1 you dont have to kill him unless you want the armor and the ring, In regards to Allant, false king, dodge, dodge and more dodge. If you ware still haveing trouble I can see about getting on this weekend. But yeah dont block any of his crap if you can help it because he recovers way to fast and it always drains your stamina way too quickly. Also look for any opportunity to heal that you can. I am assuming you want to do it yourself and have no help so that is my advice to you. Make sure you dodge his tracking slash you have to time it right but it can be done. and when he starts powering up he can be knocked out of it. You just have to hit him hard and fast. good luck.
I’m trying to find time to finish up 1-4. I’ve been really busy, though and haven’t been able to get on. I wanna take that guy down. Only got to try him 2-3 times. He’s not that bad. As with almost every other boss, you just have to be disciplined.
edit: that DSP video is so upsetting. Can a person’s logical reasoning be SO bad? I’m not even talking about playing–i’m just talking about the character creation portion! Heaven knows what in game will be like
edit edit: Ok this is just an act, right? He does this for entertainment purposes for views, money, etc. Granted, there are a lot of frustrating moments in the game, but a lot of this is an act (I assume).
You would think that after playing Dark Souls he’d have a better understanding of the series, but nope. Since he had his hand held for 3/4 of the game he never learned how to properly upgrade his character or gear. The opening of this before he learns how to lock on or use items is hilarious.
Black Armor pack for all Black Armor and Collector’s Edition included free. Just hope this gear isn’t too OP for the start of the game, then again you can just opt to not use it.
I doubt it will be, but maybe this is what was meant by easing new gamers into the game strategy that they are trying with this iteration. That being said nothing looks like it would gel with my typical wanderer so Im just going to stick to my mixed armor and falchion.
Just read the DLC will be available at the start of the game. Some details about the gear as well.
[details=Spoiler]The Black Armour Weapon Pack gives you access to follwing weapons right from the start of the jouney:
Black Flamestone Dagger and Black Flamestone Parma – A dagger and shield encrusted in Black Flamestone both found in the Gutter at Black Gulch. Even though they are heavier than a normal dagger and shield, the Flamestone crystal’s unique properties make the dagger extremely sharp and give the shield high resistance to damage.
Yellow Quartz Long Sword and Yellow Quartz Shield – A straight sword and small shield hardened with yellow quartz both uncovered at the bottom of the Iron Keep. Even though these items can break easily due to their high level of corrosion, they are exceptionally light and their power to inflict damage has not declined.
Bound Hand Axe and Bound Wooden Shield – A brutal hand axe and shield found in the Undead Purgatory. Both items are wrapped in chains and thorns to cause additional bleeding on enemies. Both the axe and shield have diminished in overall slashing power but their ability to deliver pain has been deliberately increased.
Homunculus Mace and Homunculus Wooden Shield – A mace and shield with spherical protrusions found in Aldia’s Keep. Although heavier than normal maces and shields, the hard protrusions greatly increase the striking power of the mace as well as the shield’s defensive capabilities.
Transgressor’s Staff and Transgressor’s Leather Shield – A staff and leather shield entwined with an unknown and seemingly lackluster element; these items are found in the Dark Chasm of Old. They have become a catalyst for sorcery and hex and cause an effect known as Darkness. [/details]
Kinda looks Aliens/Dead Space-ish to me. I don’t hate it, but I’d like for it to have some back-story rather than just looking creepy. Which, to be fair, they usually do.
edit: changed “I don’t have it” to “I don’t hate it”. You know, so it actually makes sense.
