What impressed me the most about the Demon Souls community was their dedication to creating PvP tournaments and other ways to play; without in game friend lists, messaging, etc. People went through great lengths to build games within the game-- I always admired that.
Is there a good place to read up on Demons/Dark Souls lore? I’ve searched a few places but the info is either scattered or not very descriptive. I imagine people have compiled a comprehensive list that goes into detail about characters, locations etc. If someone could direct me to a good source I’d really appreciate it.
You could use the wiki’s, there’s lot’s of Youtube videos, forums, and also just plain reading item descriptions in-game.
It’s best to just look around and see all the different information you can find from multiple sources. This way you can filter out what is just fan speculation and what actually is concrete and established lore in the games. The more you dig the more and more intriguing the lore becomes.
It has been stated that DSII will either be around the same size or “slightly larger” than Dark Soul’s map. So I’m not too sure how accurate that is, but you could be right.
But it makes even less sense to add in fast travel off the bat when it has been stated that we’re actually getting some kind of vehicle(s) in DSII, too.
I’m sure a lot of people who haven’t played a Souls game will play DS2 first, what if anything should they read up or should they go in blind like everyone else did with Demon’s. As far as I know most of the beginner’s guides have spoilers most people would not want spoiled.
Well I read that enemies only respawn (after you’ve killed them of course) 15 times before staying dead forever. So having fast travel early on might not be such a bad thing. Walking around in a empty world might get sad.
With the blitzkrieg of news starting to come out I need to stay the fuck away from this thread, NeoGaf, and any title that says Dark Souls 2. I’m about to ruin it for myself.
I’m not too happy about enemies not respawning. I understand that they don’t want people grinding to level up as much, but couldn’t they have just made the number of souls you get slowly diminish to the point where they give nothing instead of removing them entirely? I feel like you’ll be able to make areas completely safe now with minimal effort.
Well I hope there is something. I’m thinking of areas in Dark Souls and how they would be with no enemies. The Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants would be the most boring places to revisit if they had no enemies to deal with.
The book is nice but for me I would have rather spent an extra $15 for more concept art and double paged spreads. You’ve seen a lot of this art before if you ever looked up Dark Souls information online.
