Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Dark Souls has nods to Demon’s Souls, but nothing there is intended to link the story of the two games. Examples are Lautrec, who is a nod to Yurt, and Snuggly, who is a nod to Sparkly. Patches is present in both as well, but he’s been in From Software’s games even before the Souls series. Again, they’re completely separate from each other. Even the driving points of their stories are so vastly different from each other that you’d have to reach far beyond the extent of your imagination to begin to make sense of them being connected.

I wish they were connected in some way, but it’s just not there…

You forgot the omega sword, the moonlight.

the pic of those giant things attacking humans are demons not giants. It even says a mature demon is beyond human imagination. Take for example the tower guard, hes a demon

The fog brought forth demon spirits, which have the power to warp pre-existing things into twisted mockeries of themselves (hence, why the GIANTS in the picture are attacking people, when the game states before the fog they were very peaceful). Ala, The Dragon God. Or the Storm King. Or the Old Hero. Boletaria sent so many soldiers to The Land of The Giants because they were such a threat being transmogrified by the demons. A “mature demon” is a pretty vague expression, but within the context it probably means a demon reaching a certain pinnacle of strength. Doesn’t necessarily mean they turn into giant towering monsters every time. For example, look at Astrea. She adopted the power of a demon, and in turn became so corrupted that she herself became a demon as well. Yet her appearance was completely intact.

Maybe not her sanity, but…

The game even states where the picture takes place. It details what happened to the giants there. You can put two and two together.

From what the game shows, the “colorless fog” that swept over the land, as well as the demon spirits that emerged from it, have the power to do a fuckload of things, ranging from transforming entities entirely (Dragon God), apparating something from nothing (the Pagan rituals and stories of the Shrine of Storms, ala Storm King & Old Hero) or even making people go mad (Latria’s husband, who wound up locking his wife away in her own temple).

IIRC, the Tower Knight used to be one of the three heroes of Boletaria (Alfred, I believe his name was). Either way, he was once a person who was overtaken by a demon. Which just goes to show how drastically the demon can warp someone entirely.

post a random pic to try to make your self look cool doesnt help please stop. If you watch the whole intro they are talking about demons the whole way through. No where in the intro does it talk about demons taking the souls of the giants and making them go insane. And you cant prove those once were giants. Even the demons like leech-monger and dirty colossus are pretty big. Better yet take example king allant, who is a demon and not a giant, yet hes at least 5 times bigger then you are. Like i said again there is no proof that those things in the pics attacking the humans once were giants.

Trying to speculate about the giants now is pointless, since the land of the giants DLC was canceled. And the whole story is lost

You must have missed the part where it talks about the hundreds and thousands of people sent from Boletaria to TLOG. And where it talks about those same soldiers fighting off the demonic giants as a result of the fog’s corruption. It doesn’t say all of this in the intro, and why would it? When has From Soft ever been that up front with their story telling?

Or we could just assume that the picture is just abstract concept art that they randomly decided to shove in the game, and coincidentally make it look exactly like the events they detail about the battle. You’re right, that makes more sense.

Not sure why you’re so adamant on believing that all demons need to be towering giants. I’ve already provided you examples that counter this and it’s like you’re not even listening. Lol.

you still have no proof though

You have a lot less proof for your argument than I do. :coffee:

Stop debating with Alan, it goes nowhere

Did some googling for reference and found this post:

This is on the wiki. It talks about the Northern Lands aka The Land of the Giants:

Can’t find any concrete proof, but everything I can find backs up what Martian is saying.

Yeah, there will always be an element of ambiguity when it comes to the Souls game’s stories. That’s just how From Soft does it.

But sometimes, more often than not, they’ll give you enough to put two and two together. This is one of those instances, imo.

I hope the Iaito is DS 2…I need my quick draw swag.

Yeah, they brought the Uchi back from Demon’s Souls so I’m hoping a lot of stuff makes it through again into DSII.

We know they’re at least bringing a few things back. There are screenshots of DSII with people wearing the Elite Knight Armor set from the first DS.

There will always be ambiguity regarding that specific plot point because exclusive vs multiplat.

Unless one day From decides to work in a form of multiple alternate universes, wherein one otherwise identical version existing in, say, universe FrmS0ni1, is in fact connected to the DeSo plotline, and another version existing in universe FrmBawX360 has a completely different origin, whilst somehow remaining completely identical elsewise.

lol no, they’re different games because they’re owned by different companies, both of which have no interest in selling their IP. From probably has no interest in buying an IP just for nerdwanking, since they already went through the effort of making a new world.

That is what I said.

Sony owns DeSo, that From developed.

From owns DaSo.

Sony is not letting it happen.

Which is silly, because it would only mean that they own an even bigger piece of the story than anyone else.

im sure they’ll bring back patches and kick you down a hole again

Patches isn’t kicking me down shit this time… They better have him truly sneak you in DS2, because his head is coming right off if I see him. :chainsaw:

I just saw this and dude.

+5 Black Knight Great Sword
Artorias Armor Set
Mask of the Child headgear
Artorias Greatshield
ROFAP+Havel’s Ring
And Pursuers

This is all I use now. You feel like a fucking god. And just secondary off hand a pyro glove for shits.

Allright if anyone is new at this point in the lifecycle get good at rolling if you want that sword and run for your life. You can get it I was a thief when I did it so it can be done though I went into each of these games blind and usually as a wanderer. So I litterally rolled and stumbled my way into the covenant. So it is possible to do. Doing a blind first run is always a must the only edge I had on some of the original DS people was I was invading people nonstop when DeS came out and I rocked two weapons for forever in that game so I already knew most of the system mechanics such as what weapon does which spears, shields parrying ect. Also punched that fat demon to death in the asylum because such like in DeS I knew you would get something for killing him though I couldnt use that club for forever it was still fun stripping down but naked and punching that thing in the taint. So next game big demon at the beginning remember to kill it at all costs, youll probably get something.
