Killing patches didnt mean much in dark souls, though in demon souls he sells pretty good stuff, and if you did the side quest you get a colorless soul later killing him. Would like to see a npc like mephistopheles, telling you to kill people for a sidequest to get stuff
I hope covenants are expanded upon more in this one. Stuff like “go do this” or “don’t do that” having huge implications on your playthrough would be great.
No, just more consequences and rewards than Dark Souls offered. I never really felt like I belonged to those covenants since rewards were kind of lackluster save for a few, and consequences were not severe at all which could be absolved anyway. Seemed like a last minute addition, which is appreciated, just hope it’s expanded upon more this go round.
Agreed. This makes me think of something like the Forest Hunter covenant, but on a much larger scale. What if nothing in the forest attacked you? What if you didn’t have to fight Sif? Even things like that would’ve made the experience a lot better, IMO. Instead, we got things like getting invaded by Darkmoon Blades when you were part of their covenant and having to fight Nito, with no repercussions, when you were a Gravelord Servant.
I always thought it was a missed opportunity that you couldn’t avoid a fight with Sif if you got him to help you in the Manus fight, first. It would have been cool if he just laid the sword and ring down in respect for you helping avenge his master.
But at the same, what actually happens in the game if he does help you in the Abyss first could be considered to be equally thought provoking . The cutscene changes and you can obviously see that Sif recognizes you to an extent, but it’s as if it’s been so long since then he’s maybe gone senile or doesn’t remember who exactly you are. Which actually makes it pretty damn sad that it comes down to you killing him as well as his master.
People interpret that as him recognizing who you are, but choosing to fight you anyway. He’s either trying to prevent you from meeting the same fate as Artorias, making sure you’re worthy, or fulfilling his master’s wishes and protecting his gravesite/ring. Either way, it’s left up to the player to make sense of something that seems really half-assed.
Secured one of these today. Probably gonna be outdated not long after launch, but I just want it for collection purposes and whatever art and/or story might be in it.
It’s release date is listed as the same day as the game, so I’ll have it a few days after that I suppose. Aside from skimming through the pictures I’m not touching the information section until I do at least one completely blind playthrough.
Same here, it’s been quite a while since a game has had me actually looking at the calender up until it’s release. Do you happen to know if the comic they just launched is any good, and if so are they planning on releasing any physical copies of it?
No word on a physical copy yet, although that would be marvelous. They’ve been releasing it only two pages a week, so it’s kind of hard to scope out the story as a whole, but the art is fantastic and what’s been released so far has been really interesting to say the least. It’s dialogue for the most part right now but it’s all pretty intriguing stuff.
Everything that’s been released so far is uploaded here, if you want to read them:
