Is there anyway I can reverse the points? I think I’m screwed. Blah.
A phantom invaded my world and killed me 2 times. Ghey. The Catacombs is straight hell but since I’m at LV86 or something I cleaned out most of the crap down there, also ran into a smith so he can upgrade my Zweihandler (I keep hearing good things about this sword, so I’ll try it out again)
Theres only one true horrible level thats as badly designed as it looked;
It’s like someone put SFxT neon colors for lava, and LAWD I played the game before they patched lost izalith. You know all those giant ass thighs that Bison Head stomped you to death? There were 2-3x as more at launch.
I have a bad habit of encountering bosses before I spend souls. Anyhow, cleared out the depths yesterday. The boss down there was pretty easy. After that I decided to get that seal from the smith dude that opens the door in the woods. Found my way to some wolf named Sif and got my ass killed while holding a shit load of souls. Im gonna try to go get them back today and kill that fucker.
I finally got invaded by some dudes. I tried to just run away but they found me and killed my ass. I got some ring from some pussy cat and it allows me to invade people in that forest area. I invaded some dude twice. I killed him the first time and he killed me the second time.
The other half of the zombie dragons you run into.
If you go to the right path, a tower will block line of sight for the left one. Of course I spent a hour of NOT doing that and tried to kill the one on the left first my first time while dodging a arrow coming from a blind side.
I didn’t have a ranged option my first run. I had to corpse run through the guys and hope they all killed enough of each other so that I could pass.
Man I haven’t even been playing the actual story last 2 days, I’m just focusing on PvP lol this gets addictive fast. I finally understand why the humanity is needed, shit I need to farm some more rats lol. Farming sucks in general though.
This Zweihandler is a beast hahaha. Sure, it’s slow, but its stunlock is stupid good. I killed like 4 people invading my world with this thing, all of them trying to get behind me for criticals lol nope! I personally like it over the BKGS, BKGS has too many gimmicky attacks. I have a Fire Zweihandler +5, Stone Armor Set, Havel Ring, Wolf Ring, and the Grass shield.
Learn the dead angle/nearly unblockable cross up on zwei’s/claymore/anything with a wide sweep. Pretty much they’re forced to respect the range and have to dodge instead of relying on their shield.
the level up system is exponential isn’t it?? Or rather, there is a cap to how much the points in a particular stat make a difference.
I say because I noticed that one extra point in a particular stat makes a noticable difference, but later on, it doesn’t do shit and you need specilized armor plus specilized magic to get the neccessary defense against whatever you want to defend against.
•There’s weapons shields with different stat requirements and scale off stats differently. The scale ranges from nothing to D - S.
•because of the above, investing in certain stats allows you to invest in certain builds which allow you to use whatever weapon that scales with the invested stat or just being capable of using it.
•For most stats theres a cap where diminishing returns happen. For dex it’s around 40-50 to get max benefit from dexterity weapons with S scaling. For STR it’s 28 if you’re 2 handing a STR weapon, 40-50 if 1 handing *this is because you get 50% more STR when 2 handing a weapon. This is why you can 2hand some weapons but can’t one hand it; the 50% boost allows you to wield it 2handed. For Int, every spell has a strict int requirement, similarly 40-50 like the rest of the stats. Same deal with Faith. For Endurance you stop getting stamina bonuses around 40 but your equip load still increases without diminishing returns. Vitality gets diminishing returns as well around 40-50.
As you can see, after awhile it requires more investment into the stat to get more spell slots.
•Resistance is ass don’t touch it
----- Some notes -----
•Dexterity can quicken spell cast times. Varies by spell.
•Pyromancy doesn’t scale off Int
•Catalysts scale off int/faith differently. Some are more optimal for a certain amount of int/faith than others.
•Theres specific builds that are made to min max a weapon(s)/gear in general and then use the rest of the stats towards end/vit. These are usually pvp builds that want to stay within a certain level
•Ring of Favor and Protection allows you to go past the max endurance of 162 acquired by 40 endurance to 192. Very useful for those investing in endurance and/or vitality.
•Several rings that boost magic damage
•There’s gear/ring that boost stamina recovery
•Heavier gear atypically has more poise. Which allows you to not flinch after getting hit by an attack. Every weapon does a certain amount of “poise damage”. Daggers and rapiers do the least.
•Movement speed/stamina recover/and especially how good your rolls are dependent on your overall weight vs equip load. Refer to http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Equip+Load Darkwood grain ring allows you to fucking ninja flip that allows you to cover more distance and have more invincibility frames and do it faster than a normal fast roll. Requires “light” equip load *under 25% of max equip.
•You can upgrade a weapon at the blacksmith to scale off certain stats say Enchanted for Int, or completely remove the scaling to get a static boost towards an element Fire/Lightning weapons.
TL;DR
Putting points into say Dex would make dex weapons hit harder. If the dex weapon has a S scaling off Dex then it’ll get a shit load more benefit than one that’s a D scaling.
Keep in mind that you have to account for base damage and if it scales off other stats as well.
Putting points into endurance and you’ll get both a nudge bigger endurance bar it adds up and be able to carry heavier gear. Probably the most noticeable at first.
Well I know that, but what I want to know if the leveling up system is a logramithic function rather than a linear function. Which is why I said that I noticed that the even at S scaling, after X amount of points they do nothing to add a single point
3rd bullet point probably answered that in detail unless I missed a point. I needed to make one huge post anyways so I can just reference people to that or the wiki.
Killed the spider lady (lol freaky cutscene) now there’s two ways I can go: down to the demon ruins or that door that opened up. Any recommendations? Consensus around the web seems to be don’t go down there (demon ruins) unless you are LV60 or higher. I’m soul level 97, and I will NOT miss blight town. Pure hell for beginners–there’s no good items and poison derp makes controller tossing imminent. It will test everything the beginner has learned up to the point, I probably wouldn’t of survived if I didn’t farm.
What happens if I summon somebody? Do they help me fight or try to kill me? I see those white things all the time.
Did quite a lot of stuff yesterday, though I did have some guidance from a friend who’s a wizard at DaS. Beat Ornstein and Smough, Sif, Fo’ Kings and Nito but got rekt by Gwynevere’s amazing chest.
If it’s a white summon sign they’ll help and I think it’s a red(?) summon sign to duel somebody. If someone wants to kill you they’ll just invade.
