good question, I just raised my strength to 22. but I think I read that some of the properties are reduced when using a weapon/shield that you don’t have the right stats for. not sure if that means the damage reduction goes down or if the fire protection goes down.
The only difference I have noticed is that the damage for the shield bash goes down, which is basically irrelevant unless you are using a shield as your right hand weapon (lol).
I want to try playing with a right hand shield and a left hand paring dagger.
AFAIK, if you dont have the required strength, you can still block and get the reduced damage benefit, you just suffer a higher stamina penalty.
thanks for the help guys…for the trophies that require obtains best weapon by hardstone etc…does that only mean weapons or can it be armors??? or shields???
im outi

Well, I’ve been using leather armor for the most part. I’ll take that off and try again.
Yea, I got the cling ring. I should be able to make it across now. I’m using a hunter with all leather armor.
Cool man. This should get me across.
After I beat the game and starting NG+ im sitting in 1-1 with around 300,000 souls (30k is a level for me) I’m just trying breeze through so I can use my souls. Whats happens? I get invaded by black phantoms, not 1, 5 of them. So fast that I couldn’t get back to my nexus. Man it was nerve racking that these guys kept on coming. It was pretty awesome beating every one of them, though one guy I got him to kill himself with some sweet dodging moves, sucker must had me on auto-lock and dodged the wrong way.
Finally got back and played offline mode would have been soo pissed to lose all those souls.
I have gripless and makoto, but i dont get the reason of using them. Is it becuase it is a fast sword? Because it is barely breaks 120 damage while my demonbrand deals over 300 one handed. Cant wait to get the upgrade.
They might be better once fully upgraded. I was using Makoto for a while when I got it but now my Uchigatana+10 is much more effective and it doesn’t drain any HP.
I can’t make myself submit and finish the game, I am addicted to farming all the amazing pure black world tendency drops. Also, if anyone has not yet gone into the crystal gecko nest in 2-2, just stay away from it until you have pure black world tendency, and better yet the God’s Wrath miracle. The drops you can get are so ridiculous, it was like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one.
A question about black world tendency: do the fixed treasures change, or are they still the same?
I assume you mean the predetermined treasures that the developers placed around the levels. If so, then they stay the same regardless of world tendency.
When I get home I’m gonna beat the blind monk and get my yellow demon soul for the insanity stix
Its been my experience that if you have souls, spend them.
Stupid Maneater…asshole’s not even that tough, that damn little ass bridge is the real boss
^ shits super annoying, most frustrating boss in the whole game.
Yah i know that, it is just that I had soo many souls from the final boss and i have to beat 1-1 again before i could spend them.
Man this game is crack. Plan to go black and start a building toward PvP.
no need. just pure black world 2, go to 2-2, beat black phantom scirvir, get the talisman of beasts he drops, now you’re able to cast both spells and miracles with no penalty.
The Makoto is helpful if you have the Clever Rat’s Ring. The Clever Rat’s Ring increases your attack power when your health is below 30 percent. This helps tremendously if you’re hunting for Crystal Geckos. For example, with my bow, it normally takes at least 2 shots to bring down a crystal gecko, and if I miss my second shot, the gecko might get away. However, Using the Clever Rat’s Ring, my bow can one-shot the geckos, so I don’t have to worry about them getting away anymore. It’s also good for taking down tough enemies more quickly (either from range, or from melee, as long as you don’t get hit, lol).
Whenever you want to use the Clever Rat’s Ring, just equp the Makoto until your health is below 30% (you’ll see a buff icon by your health, magic, and stamina meters, and you’ll have a distinct white glow when the ring takes effect), and then switch back to your original weapon.
In addition, there are the Adjucator’s Shield, Regenerator’s Ring, and any Blessed Weapon, which all regenerate health, which can be used to counteract the health drain from Makoto, if you ever want to actually use it.
Katana-based weapons are pretty good to have because of their speed. The Uchigatana is my personal favorite.
I hope that helped. I forgot to mention the last part of the bridge, which killed me a few times during my first playthrough. For this part of the bridge, the dragon starts its sweep by the carriage after the two zombies, so make sure that you walk far enough so that when you wait for the dragon, you’re close enough to run right after the it, but far enough that you don’t get hit by it. The hardest part is that you’ll meet archers at the end of the bridge, with a blue knight right behind them. Make sure they don’t force you too far back on the bridge, because you can get hit by the dragon’s torch run.
I just got to the fire monster guy in 2-2 and almost had him dead, like right at zero, and then he went crazy and spammed attacks and I died.
Then I got so sad at the thought of having to walk back there I just turned off the game.
lol, I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve been there so many times, but it ends up me turning that shit back in within the hour.
Yeah I am playing right now.
I am just gonna get the water spell and farm some souls for a little while.
