I hate farming in games.
At the armored spider archstone you can take the right-hand tunnel with all the miners in it. From there, you can CAREFULLY jump down the pit and you’ll end up right at the boss room in like a minute, without having to fight anything. Technically you can even do this right at the beginning and skip the whole level if you really want.
I do too, but I am strangely drawn to do it because I always want to get that next weapon/item/level/skill/upgrade/etc. At least Demon’s Souls doesn’t require it, unless you are a completionist and want to get all the fancy weapons and shit. Even then, you might be able to play successive new game pluses and get everything like that.
Nice. No game plus option kept me from finishing MHFU.
I just realized to get the platinum trophy, I need to hit NG+++ =/
I swear to Allah that I will never get beat by someone named Nobita kun ever again. Fucking Japanophiles
I killed that stupid firething, SUCK IT FIRE THING.
Now I am going to go kill MORE things. All the things will suck it!
Awesome way to farm stones of ephemeral eyes:
Get world 5 to pure black world tendency and go to the Dirty Colossus archstone. Turn around and briefly head backwards through the level until you get back to that housing-type area, you will see one of the glowing shaman guys. Kill him and head to the right, kill the 2 or 3 guys there until you see a black phantom giant troll. Shoot him with arrows to bring him over to you and then kill him however you want, I cast Warding and two-handed my best sword. When he dies he will usually drop a stone of ephemeral eyes. Return to the nexus and repeat.
If anyone has a better method let me know, this one is decent but it could be slightly quicker/easier somewhere else that I don’t know about.
So I’m palying this through with no guides nothing like that, trying to figure stuff out for myself
Got through 2.1 with no deaths due to the fact i randomly had the Comp Short bow +2’d and accidently found the safe spot in the corner, felt cheap but fuck it, stupid fire shooting spider
So im charging through the next area, stabbin whatever the hell these things are, going crazy, and i see the white salamander and am like… Sweet! chase it onto the catwalk, cant quite get it, go full speed around the corner… salamander is gone, and so is the catwalk
“oh… OH! SHIT! NO NO NO!”
You are dead!
fml
ROTFL!!!..
I did the same thing…
Hey congrats on getting through 2.1 without kickin the bucket!..
Wait till you get to 3-1…
I honestly found 1-3 solo the hardest if you’re not reading a guide. I don’t get what’s up with the Flame Lurker disgust. I just started NG+ and after 1-1 I went to do 2-1 and 2-2 straight and didn’t really have any issues. 2-2 was a bit slow though since dude doesn’t take any damage. The stair + rock exploit really helps speed things up though, otherwise it’s a really long drawn out fight. Learning 1-3 actually made 1-5 super easy as a melee fighter.
Actually 3-1 is just plain scary the first time i played it…
so dark…
First time it is yeah, because it seems like a huge stage, but once you beat it (and most stages) you actually realize how contained it is. I always thought this game had huge bewildering levels filled with mazes you’d have to draw a map to remember, but that’s not really the case at all. It’s probably the only game so far that forces you to appreciate the entire game’s architecture and design both gameplay-wise and aesthetically.
I’m playing through Uncharted 2 right now as a break from Demon’s Souls and honestly, the game feels too fast, it doesn’t allow me to appreciate the environments at all and it’s super strange I feel this way. It’s all Demon’s Souls’ fault! By the way, is there any weapon someone can suggest for NG+ and on that is good against bosses? I feel like I’m doing such puny damage at 150 per hit at most. I’m going pure Dex right now with Str at 30, Vit less than 30 and Faith at 20 so I’m pretty good for anything. My endurance is high enough for me to wear tank gear while dual wielding shit as well so any weapon is fine for me. I just noticed that it’s safer and much better to have a faster weapon, especially when it comes to getting invaded.
I just started New Game+ myself and have been pondering what to spend my colorless demon’s souls on. I’m considering the gripless katana since it’s an S in dexterity and has a pretty high base damage even at +0, and I have had a lot of success with just the uchigatana so far. I was also looking at the Penetrating sword because I like the longsword class’s versatile move set and unlike others in that class the Penetrating sword uses dexterity, although it can only go up to an A instead of S. It also has stronger stabbing attacks which I use frequently as well.
I need to get myself a good dagger, I had a quality secret dagger+4 that was pretty good but I switched it to fatal because I had missed my chance for a pure clearstone and had plenty of shards/chunks to build up another quality weapon later. The critical damage is great, but otherwise it’s pretty useless as a main weapon because it now does painfully little damage on normal hits. If bladestone chunks/pures weren’t so hard to come by I would just make sharp everything, it’s so good for a dexterity-based character.
If you feel like bothering with character tendency you can probably use soulbrand/demonbrand/north regalia but I haven’t really messed with any of that at all so I can’t comment.
Reading through this thread since the NA release has got me to fire up a new game on my Asian copy and I’m starting to get hooked again… thanks SRK. This time around I’ve opted for a more melee style character as opposed to magic.
So far I have the Palanx, Tower Knight, Armor Spider, Flame Lurker, Fool’s Idol, and Adjudicator all taken care of. I was going to try for Maneater next but I’m having horrible flashbacks from the last time I fought him…
I didn’t find Maneater difficult at all first play through. I just chipped away with a spear and shield and switched to bow whenever they started flying too much while circling the middle. Not sure how the fight goes if you’re a magic user though.
so after you beat new game + can you load up the same info again for another new game + infinitely, or does it go to new game ++???
im outi
Roberth
Infinitely, although the difficulty increase does scale down.
i’m having serious problems with the maneaters…
I beat the dragon, just beat that huge dude with the sword, and the old hero but those fuckin maneaters…
If you have defeated the Tower Knight and rescued Sage Freke from 3-1, use its soul to learn the spell Warding which will massively increase your resistance to physical attacks. If you need to grind some levels to use the spell it’s very much worth it.
When you actually fight maneater, two-hand your best weapon and do everything you can to kill the first one before the second one shows up, or at least hurt it a lot so you can finish it off quickly. Don’t worry if you take some hits while doing it as they shouldn’t do too much damage. Try to stay in the large circular area if you can, it’s harder to get knocked off the ledge and you can use the obstruction in the middle to block their ranged attacks.
You might also practice casting the Warding spell in the nexus and getting a feel for how long it lasts, so you can try and get to a safe casting location before it runs out, since you can’t recast the spell until it has completely run out.
I did all this with a thief, so if you have a more armored character it should be even easier. Also remember that if you’re really stuck, you can come back later, and that every time you increase a stat of any kind it raises your physical defense +1.
Does upgrading a shield do anything besides raise the damage you do with it? I never see an increase in the damage prevented.
