Man, Avelyn + 15 packs one hell of a punch, taking it down to Anor Londo, darkwraithing it up and filling people full of arrows for 400-500 (guessing the variation is based on def and maybe getting lucky with headshots) when they do anything unsafe at range is plain evil. (In a satisfying way)
[spoiler=Fuckin’ damn this game] I don’t even know where to start.
So I played through New Londo ruins a bunch of times, those ghosts are annoying as hell. I finally get to this room that requires a key, I google it and come to find out I’m supposed to go to Sen’s Fortress then Anor Londo first.
Sen’s Fortress isn’t too bad after learning the traps and such. I fell down once to the bottom and encountered those two headless lightning demons and got destroyed. I’ll have to come back much later when I’m buffed up.
Fast forward to Anor Londo, the level isn’t too hard. The big knights are annoying when there’s two of them at a time.
I got a Crystal Halberd which I thought was awesome, until I realized its durability is 20 and you can’t repair it, you can only upgrade it. That weapon was making the game so much easier. So that sucks.
I get to the tower with all the silver knights. At first they were tough, then once I started using the parry (first time all game I’ve used/needed it) I was just mowing through them. There is one room that’s small and has one of those headless lightning demon guys that I don’t wanna deal with yet.
Anyways, I finally get to the boss of Anor Londo…FUCK YOU DARK SOULS! Is this a fucking joke? I’ve played them about 15 times so far, killed the fat guy Smugh or whatever the hell his name is, ONE TIME only to find out…that his piece of shit friend turns into a giant electric version of himself. So I died yet again and gave up for the night.
I think I may need to farm some top tier weapons or something. I have a few of the boss souls and I searched to see what weapons are good to make so I’ll probably do that. But I seriously don’t understand this game. Do the stats for armor mean absolutely nothing? Trying to beat those two pieces of dog shit a bunch of times, I naturally tried a bunch of different combinations of weapons and armor. So I put on Havel’s Helmet, Eastern Armor(or something similar can’t remember), Silver Knight gauntlets, and Stone Giant/Warrior leggings as opposed to my usual Mask of Child, Crimson Robe, Elite Knight gauntlets+6, and Crimson leggings. And I see no difference in the damage I’m taking. I just move a hell of a lot slower.
Last question for this long mega-rant, I still haven’t figured out humanity. Every time I approach a hard area or boss the floor messages are usually Need Humanity or Try Humanity. Is it just for the increase in Estus Flask? I have about 18 Humanity and 5 Twin Humanities, but I’m hesitant to use them, I’m pretty sure you lose them when you die…and I’m no stranger to dying.
Pheeew that was long.
When you go human you can see other player"s summon signs, its a lot easier to kill fatboy slim there witg a buddy to stop you getting gang banged, also if you just play cautiouslt and gtfo with the quickness when a big one tries to take a seat on your head you should be fine.
Phantoms are easy mode for almost every part of the game. But Kalameet seems to be designed to be played with phantom bros.
If you’re getting bodied by a boss then the first thing you should do is work on your strategy. I suggest taking down Ornstein first as Super Smough is pretty easy to beat.
-Go and pick up the elite armor set in the bottom of Darkroot Basin, if you already haven’t. It’s a pretty good set for how easy it is to acquire.
-Nab the Drake Sword, or find a Zweihander and start upgrading that. It’s the most powerful weapon in the game once you upgrade it to lightening +10. There’s a dude really close to where you’re stuck in Anal Rodeo that can upgrade your weapons to Lightening and other things.
-Don’t kill Orn first, kill Smough. If you kill Smough first, then kill Ornstein, you get Ornstein’s armor and it’s pretty badass.
-Humanity is something you stock to add buffs to some of your stats. Some weapons, like the Abyss Greatsword (DLC only) get stronger and stronger for every Humanity you stack up to…30? I think it was. Just save them for deepening covenant allegiances.
-Havel’s armor set is one of the best armors in the game, as well as his shield. If not anything else, at least use his shield and you’ll notice how powerful it actually is. It may make you slower, but the defense it offers is more than worth it. Also resistant against magic as well.
The wearable set of Ornstein’s armor does not include the majestic red plume, and is therefore only arguably badass.
Also, am I the only one that thinks super Ornstein is much easier than super Smough?
Fatty is only hard because his goddamn hammer is in the way.
YESSS. Everyone keeps saying Super Snorlax is much easier. But I find Super Pikachu so much easier. All his attacks are so easy to dodge and predict.
When Snorlax starts that steamroll attack I ALWAYS get blown up by it for some reason.
Honestly they’re both easy. The only thing that makes that boss hard is facing two things at once. Once you beat one of them it’s really just a walk in the park.
ambiguous butt slam
I dunno… If Ornstein sits on you or gets you in his command grab you’re pretty much done for.
His buttsplash is easy to see coming and just as easy to roll out off. His command grab is easy to dodge as long as you do it very late.
The wave was the probable for me.
Ng+ problems.
Still killed him when I got him down.
How much more health does he have or Lion-o?
-Was super butthurt that armor WASN’T EXACTLY IDENTICAL…
Currently doing a level 1 run. Seeing as the Pyromancer is the only class that starts at level 1 and only has 12 strength and 9 dexterity, I’m pretty much limited to using just the Battle Axe. Got to Anor Londo not too long ago and Ornstein and Smough are a bitch. Doesn’t help that my lightning Battle Axe does crap damage and has short range. I tried equipping and two handing the silver knight spear and was only doing 3 damage to Ornstein lol. My character doesn’t even meet the stat requirements to use even the basic Spear so looks like that’s out of the question.
The Reinforced Club is probably the best choice for SL1 runs since it has bleed. You can buy it off Andrei.
Also if you can bring yourself to do it, kill the giant blacksmith for his hammer. It uses twinkling titanite to buy those before you kill him. At +5 it does 180 phys / 300 lightning with a D scale in STR str. Only downside is that you’ll have to 2h it.
Don’t kill any npcs until you are going to clear the game and go to new game plus. If you do it will be that much harder, especially if you kill the blacksmith’s.
Anyways there’s a ton of theories on how to play this game:
High Vitality, Endurance, Strength + Lightning Zweihander and Havel, Stone, Guardian or Smough Armor Set = Tank Boss.
Swing, Swing, Swing, heal, Swing, block, backstab, Kill, Heal, rinse, repeat.
High Intelligence, Attunement, Dexterity, Vitality + Logan’s Catalyst or Crystal Catalyst, Moonlight Sword and Dusk Crown = Easy Single Player Game.
Homing Soulmass, run through the level since it automatically tracks for you, cast once it is over. Crystal Spear for the bosses and they should die in one or two hits.
Balanced Character equals = Elite Knight Armor plus Gargoyle’s Halberd plus fire or lightning. The halberd sucks but has a lot of perks to it and does ok damage.
Gonna do that before moving on to NG+. Sticking with the Battle Axe for now since I prefer the moveset. Does the Reinforced Club still keep the bleed buildup after going lightning?
Finally beat O&S. God that was a pain. While Smough was easier to kill at the start, I eventually settled for taking care of Ornstein first as I’ve always found Super Smough so much easier to deal with. Nearly everything Super Ornstein did was unblockable and could reach me from across the room. He also took hardly any damage due to his resistance to lightning. I think the rest of the game will be pretty straightfoward now that they’re done.
