On my build with 16 STR, 30 DEX, and 38 INT, a +5 Velka’s Rapier does 309 on counterpoke without Leo Ring and 413 with Leo Ring. I tested on the undead warriors to the right of Firelink Shrine. If I leveled up my intelligence to about 50 it would do even more damage due to the B rank INT scaling.
I play somewhat far from my monitor so it wasn’t always easy seeing the snowflakes. I also fell off a few times trying to reach that off-track area with the titanite slab (and trying to see if there were any other paths in that area as well, which there weren’t). Got tired of the trial and error so I got the stones to make things clearer, which helped me figure out that there wasn’t any other path in that area.

Black Knight Weapons are incredible. Black Knight Greatsword, Axe, and regular sword are all great choices.
Gwyn’s sword wasn’t really that impressive to me.

I’m not sure if Black knight stuff i good for pvp. I tried several times and didnt do so hot.
Once i tried to chain, got mashed parried. And sometimes its to slow.

its weird how my Axe says I do like 622 and the Hal i get around 400, but the hal does the same amount of Damage, lol.

All the black knight weapons are good as they deal heavy physical dmg , especially the axe.
But the best thing you can do IMO is to make a regular +15 weapon which you can buff with miracles/sorcery.
I have used a +15 zweihander for as long as i can remember , and with the sunlight miracle i can instakill pretty much any1 with a parry or a backstab. Even those giant set + mothermask + well what is it? - type of ppls.

Got Dark Souls for Christmas. Which class should I play as my first character? I was thinking knight or bandit I think.
Pyromancer is the most advantageous of the beginner classes. Be sure to choose the master key as the gift as well.
Doesn’t matter. The starting stats for each class only make a difference in the very beginning of the game. You can start off a sorcerer, and by the time you reach Gwyn, you can have a tank/heavy armor build, or start off as a tank knight, and end the game as a DEX heavy assassin type. Dark Souls lets you roleplay as you see fit.
But if you’ve never touched the game before, I’d start off as a knight or a cleric. Knights are slow moving due to their armor, but they are boss ass tanks, and clerics are pretty powerful offensively, but trade damage reduction for faster movement, their starting armor is no where near as heavy as the knights. Also, these two classes start off with the healing miracle (I believe), and that’s pretty useful for a first playthrough. They both also start off with above average faith stats, and miracles are life savers in this game.
But like I said, it doesn’t really matter. You can shape a character throughout the course of the game as you see fit.
Need to really get past these 2 guys so i can warp around it’s either the fat guy that gets my but or the lightening that lights it up grr.
Bought the Steam copy for $20 yesterday for shits and giggles. Dark Souls in 60fps is gdlk +_+.
I’d probably get the 360 version as well if I had an Xbox despite having the PS3 already. I love this game.
