Makes sense. I always wondered why 2-Handing a weapon with a shield on your back didn’t deflect certain attacks. There really no reason I should get shot in the back by an arrow if I have a shield on it.
I hate how heavy Havel’s shield is, but I end up using it often because when things hit me while I block with it it seems to take the least amount out of my stamina. Also seems like I don’t get knocked back as much.
Other than that I tend to use the Grass Crest or Dragon Crest…which do you guys think I should use?
I’m trying to build around Artorias’ armor set, which is bad-fucking ass. I almost have my Faith to 20 so I can use his sword.
Yeah theres a lot of shields to use other than Havels. Especially for PVE.
Eagle shield has near the same stability, it’s a great shield, good lightning resistance and it’s weight is only 6. Only downsides are it’s shitty fire resistance. It also has 95% damage reduction but you won’t feel it if you’re a tank.
Black Iron Shield has the 2nd best fire resistance for a shield, comparable stability to havels, weighs 16. Lightning and magic resist is about average.
Stone Great shield is pretty much a mini havels shield that weighs 6 less with better magic resist. Minus the buff that Havels give you.
THose are just Great shields. There’s a lot of good medium shields
This song always makes me think of Dark Souls. It would go SO fucking perfect with a Dark Souls trailer or something. The tone, the mood, and even the lyrics fit so fucking perfectly with this game, and listening to it while thinking of the game just makes it seem so much sadder. It’s such an unforgiving world. A world in which EVERYTHING is out to defeat you. Where all and every single odd is placed against you, and yet, this chosen undead preservers through all the struggle and horrors ***alone. ***
I just can’t get over how amazingly perfect this song is for this game. Just put some headphones on with this song, and walk out to the Anor Londo balcony and just look at the vast beauty of the city. Such an incredible feeling, and perfectly transcended waves of emotion that resonate the core concept, struggle, and moral of the game.
Lyrics:
You’ve stripped me down, the layers fall like rain
It’s over now, just innocence and instinct still remain
You watched me while I slowly disappeared
I reached for you to save me; you were frozen in your fear
Take it all away
Circling the pain inside my soul
I reached inside your silence to steal what you won’t show
I tried to find the answers in my fears
But what was found is lost again as soon as it appeared
Take it all away
I’m breaking; I can’t do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?
You take away

You cannot read those lyrics and tell me that it doesn’t just drip with the essence of what Dark Souls is all about, and what’s more amazing is that the song really has nothing to do with the game. Fuck. This song is so fucking awesome.
