Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

+15 Bloodshield

No lyrics in dark souls! haha

Hey, I work for a few days and gotta focus on school. In case I die, Thanks for being an awesome board and see ya soon.
I;ve never played RPG games and this one is really fun. SO its a little action, but its still rad.
The only thing that really, REALLY PISSES me off is no party chat. WTF! seriously! Quit being Japanese for a second and acknowledge that 360s ability to party chat is awesome.
Spears require a lot of work too. Moving the camera around or else it misses. Swords are really safe. Projectiles seems to track too.
Game is awesome, gonna miss it for two days, lmfao… possibly three

Grass Crest Shield is great for a DEX/ END build.

Match it with Mask of the Child and a reasonably light weapon and you’ll be a stamina machine. Which against PvP might not be the best build but it is amazing against PvE.

Dex is gdlk in PVP.

The thought of FROM pulling another pure bladestone shmick made me avoid building a DEX build in DaS.

Fuck that shit.

Pure bladestone can go eat a bag of uncut baby dicks.

eSports is fucking retarded.

Greatshield of Artorias +5 if you want the best physical tanky shield in the game. Its lighter than Havels, lower stat requirements, and has more poise.

I use that with +10 Divine Greataxe, +5 giant set, 40 end, havels ring, ring of favor.

I am unfuckable.

That is done on purpose to solidify the feeling of desperation and loneliness. You aren’t supposed to talk to other players. It takes you out of the game world when a 12 year old calls you a faggot.

I know it’s late but I take back my Greatshield of Artorias and Bloodshield statement.

How could I ever forget my +5 Chaos and Lightning Bonewheel Shields. Dualwield those babies for some Twisted Metal fun.

I love you. Full bromo.

eSports is fucking retarded.

What the fuck kind of party chat you in with friends that liberally call you a faggot? And they’re 12 years old, is chris hansen going to have to step in here?

No seriously, I understand completely why they did it, so people couldn’t boost or whatever, but there’s a way to circumvent it anyway, you can regular 1 on 1 chat on XBL with someone.

And I fucking hate it when my buddies are playing other single player games like New Vegas or Skyrim and we can’t catch up about whatever bullshit is going on because party chat is blocked.

It’s just something that will always annoy me despite knowing full well it’s for the best.

really, to prevent boosting?
Wow… not like there is a moder invention where you can search “easy spots to boost in Dark Souls” and get a Wiki with EVERY SPOT, For anything.

Last night only two of us played cuz the third would be left out

New Dark Souls II info:
DETAILS OF DARK SOULS II FROM THE NEWEST ISSUE OF EDGE.
By Thecrobar on GameFAQs, although the topic will only be visible to members of the site. The wording and any added opinion is from him specifically, not me.
-This the article source for the infamous “we want the skyrim audience” quote. To be perfectly clear, even though this was already known, this quote is from the writers of the article and not From Software.

-Huge leap in graphical quality. The game is compared to Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313. Dynamic lighting and smoother animations all around.

-Hidetake Miyazaki, the director for Dark/Demon’s souls, will not be directing the game and will only be lightly involved in the production. To be perfectly honest it basically seems like his name is there to be there- his involvement is mostly about getting the project started and occasionally checking in on it.

-The unknown nature of the games came from Miyazaki’s interest in western fantasy/mythology and his relative inability to read the English text as a child, leaving him to fill in the blanks.

-Miyazaki was disappointed about having to patch Dark Souls, saying that they pushed the game out without being 100% complete. Dark Souls II will be complete when it launches.

-Server based PVP is back (yay!)

-The information about the directors for the game is worrying. Information is unclear whether or not Miyazakiwillingly stepped down from the director’s chair. Namco calls is a “company decision” and has this disturbing anecdote to share:

“For the IP to evolve and provide a new experience within the Dark Souls world the new wind from directors Shibuya and Tanimura is key to providing players with a brand new Dark Souls experience. In order to maintain expectations and satisfaction and the rewards players experience this was the time to bring in new characteristics and tastes of the directors for the series to continue evolving.”

That **** sounds worrying to me. I could just be paranoid since this is one of the last bastions of hardcore gaming being released, but it sounds too much like PR bull ****.

-Miyazaki is working on a new game he can’t talk about.

-Miyazaki is disappointed he doesn’t have a greater role in Dark Souls II
-The Graphics are shockingly close to the trailer’s quality

-According to Shibuya, one of the co-directors, the player’s ability to parse meaning from subtle hints or clues will determine the difficulty of the game and the challenges that are there to experience.

-The map is roughly the same size, but has more content and more “areas of interest”.

-The notion that Dark Souls needs to evolve was “common”. Edge says not to expect a minor update.

-In designing map areas, the main concept was to create areas that had not been in either game.

-Talks of implementing a system that will let you reveal the clues you’ve learned over the course of the game (wut?)

-Shibuya talks about “limiting players options for the early portion of the game, making it simpler to understand new concepts. Then, after a certain amount of time has elapsed, they will suddenly experience the true dark souls experience”.
-The game is a direct sequel to Dark Souls, but will not take place in Lordran. It takes place in the same world, but in a different location. (I’m confused as to how this works since we basically murdered all of the gods in the first game…)

-Time travel may play a part in the plot, and the “theme” of the game is “time” and “eras”

-Shibuya does not intend to change the controls.

-There may be slight awkwardness coming in from Dark Souls, but people should be able to adapt easily.

-Covenants will return, but be easier to understand

-Dark Souls II will be more straightforward and understandable in regards to gameplay and plot. Sibuya says he enjoyed the way Dark souls handled things, but he feels that there were elements so subtle that almost no one experienced them.

-The game has been in development since September of last year, and work on the patch/DSII was done simultaneously.

-The team for DSII is substantially bigger. The team for world construction is doubled in size, and people have been added in every other area as well.

-The game is roughly 25% complete. Very unlikely to release in 2013.
-The team is thinking about Dynamic weather

-Dark Souls II will make heavy use of the ocean and the sea as a conceptual idea. I’m highlighting this because we just had two topics talking about it in the last couple days.

-There is possibly some kind of morality system involving an executioner who can show up in your game.

-Several minor enemy details are explained/discussed

-They want the game to have vehicles of some kind (this just seems weird…)

Guess my initial doubts on a 2013 release have come to be true, especially with the crazy ambition they have with this new game. The graphics being better worries me, I’m hoping they find a way to optimize it for console or the entire game will be like blight town. I might have to go with the PC version this time around, but I am optimistic about Dark Souls 2. If this game releases in 2014 it might be one of the best looking games for current gen or will probably be moved to next gen consoles.

Love the fact that the controls will remain the same, I agree with the Vehicles though…that’s really weird unless they mean boats to travel across lakes?

SILENT HILL x DARK SOULS. IT’S HAPPENING.

Yeah. I mean, I’m ok with the game evolving, and having new mechanics and gameplay aspects to try and explore, but they need to do it right or it could end up being a total disaster that is nothing like the Soul’s games we’ve all come to know and love.

Half of me is worried they’re going to ruin one of my favorite games ever. The other half is optimistic that these changes will bring about the best Souls game to date. Let’s hope it’s the latter.

As long as they focus on making a good game it’ll be fine with me. I better be shitting Capra demons throughout the whole playthrough like the other two games.

A pyramid head stalking me even while “not human” + the threat of invasions will definitely help.

I think the executioner mechanic will fill in the blank to where people pussy’d out of risking invasion by being human or going offline.

I hope it’s even harder than the last two games. It needs to have that feeling of overwhelming and impossible challenges, so that I can enjoy the satisfaction of overcoming them. That’s what Dark souls is and should always be about.

I remember the DS team specifically saying the sequel would not be harder but now with the team shuffle it’s a possibility.

-Dark Souls II will make heavy use of the ocean and the sea as a conceptual idea. I’m highlighting this because we just had two topics talking about it in the last couple days.
