Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

I’m cool with there being access to powerful weapons early game though like the Drake Sword. Help some noobs and what not. Just don’t add easy mode.

Fuck easy mode. Fucking casuals who try this game are just going to go back to playing Call of Duty and Madden 5 minutes after they play it.

Also, Skyrim sucks.

At least a Dark Souls sequel is happening… I’m curious to see how they make it more approachable without fucking up the game’s philosophy.

360, PS3, PC…sweet I don’t have to be in a hurry for next gen if DSII comes out.

The only reason why dark souls seemed easier than demon souls, is because you already understood how the game should be played.

You already know to take your time, look around every corner, to trap tough enemies. It will be very hard to replicate the initial demon souls experience.

I don’t know about that. I have played hours upon hours of Dark Souls, and Demon’s Souls still seems more difficult. Mostly because of the area progression of Dark Souls being much easier to understand than Demon’s Souls (at least for me). Demon’s Souls is more like a Mega Man game.

ENB had a big thing about that, I take his views on Dark Souls as word of god.

You don’t have to be in offline mode to play with 60 FPS anymore.

Yeah I’ve seen that and I definitely agree.

The only way I can imagine that “easy mode” being justified is if the multiplayer servers for easy mode and normal mode are separated, and if some of the better weapons and armor be exclusive to normal mode. Then I would be okay with it.

People in this thread think having potions and a mana bar was a good idea. Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttt.

It completely broke the game since you could just slam spices and have infinite mana.

The whole point of any ARPG is to become a God. You start off as a scrub, then through levels and gear become a God. Broken shit in ARPG’s=fun.

Broken shit is not that fun when PVP is involved.

Thats not the point of DeS or DaS. Nor is it an ARPG. Just because you can swing a sword without going through a menu doesn’t classify it as one genre or another. It has more depth than that.

The point is to succeed through your ability as a player, not through the equipment or spells available to you. They are tools you can use, but overall are an extension of your own ability to overcome challenges. You’re supposed to still get murdered if you don’t pay attention. There is supposed to still be danger there all the time. DaS fixed this by giving your spells only so many uses, which meant you had to be good with them. You had to make each one count, especially in PVP.

There’s still danger all the time when I die in 1-3 hits with the best gear and stacked health in NG++++

It’s just I still dish out beastly damage.

Edit: PvP is way too laggy to be taken seriously in this game anyway. How many times have you guys been backstabbed from the front?

Double edit: Don’t forget people can have X99 healing items that give them full life. They can just zone you, chug a pot and keep going, in both games. You have to stay on that ass. PvP in the Souls games is fun, but it’s also fucking dumb. You can dodge most spells and can interrupt people from casting them, too.

Wat?

Homing Soul was ass, Soul Arrow was okay, Soul Spear used a ton of mana, magic ws just fine, that’s like saying getting the Spider Bow and just “spamming buying arrows”.

All it did was make people more melee centric, it took out a lot of versatile builds, I wanted to depend on magic, but I couldn’t, that’s not balance, it’s just not fair.

And the spells in DaS are even more powerful because of their limited use. And you have to know how to do more than just snort spice and mash the cast button.

What game were you playing?

That’s called a riposte.

No no, there is a bit of lag that causes plently of backstabs from the front. :stuck_out_tongue:

Saturn Pad is awesome, it might even be better than the ps2 pad. o_O

Uh. My newest character in DaS is entirely magic dependent and I do just fine. My strongest weapon is a +5 enchanted bandit knife because I have such low endurance that I have to keep extremely light weight gear to keep moving fast.

Oh you mean humanity in DaS? With the long as hell casting animation? The one that gets you murdered if you try to do it without perfect timing? Compared to grass in DeS where you just pop it in your mouth and thats it.
And yeah you can dodge spells, which is why you set people up to get hit by them. Also increasing your dex increases cast time, and having poise keeps you from being interrupted. DaS has better PVP by far.
