Right now I’m on the verge of turning World 1 pure black in New Game+. I’m also making my character have black soul tendency, which I hear is the way to make a new NPC appear in the Nexus. I killed the merchant in 1-1…looking for another target to kill. I kinda like the Filthy Man in 2-1, so I’ll leave him alone. Patches dies for sure…I’m attacking him on sight.
Old King Doran’s sword, The Demonbrand. I one hand that thing right now and it does 380-450 in dmg. Two handed I was able to get into the 1000’s against certain bosses.
Right now my guy is a Barbarian, almost looking to the point where i think it would just straight up be a PvP beast. Thus far everyone that has tried to taken my soul, two hit rape.
If anyone needs help I can run through the levels (though ive yet to go to world 5). This game is crack. Btw if you guys want to, we should start a PvP section. later on in the game we can get a soul that allows us to “duel.” I wouldn’t mind helping people tweak some characters for PvP.
Also there isnt a “true” method, but you can trade items in this game. I got some stuff i know i would never use on my current character build (makoto, white bow, etc.)
This game is awesome, so hit me up on the PSN: j-cart I’m always playing.
Is that the sword he gives you after you get him down to a certain level of health or do you have to straight up kill him?
Also, who is that crazy bitch in the swamp in 5-2 with the meat cleaver? Fighting her in the mud is impossible, but I can never properly lure her to a dry patch quickly enough.
And fuck you flying manta rays in 4-2, it took me like 50 tries at that level before I realized I had to use the thief’s ring to avoid having those lightning bolts things hurled at me constantly.
Also, fuck the Dragon God, what a bullshit boss.
I didn’t even know the thiefs ring can avoid the manta rays. What I do is just shoot them w/ the bow and arrow.
^^ Lol man I didn’t know that either. I also tried shooting them with the bow and arrow but missed many times.
In the end, I just said fuck it, imma just do Umerolls and dodge their lightning bolts as I kill off those knights.
I need an honest opinion here.
I went to buy a bluray player any second geussed myself and thought about just getting a PS3 instead…but the thing is I own ALOT of games on the 360 and nothing console exclusive really appealed to me on the PS3.
Long short of it is…Im getting a bluray regardless…and one of the main reasons I would get a PS3 is b/c of Tekken 6(I like the pad, cant play tekken on stick, or xbox pad)…and b/c of this game
So an unbiased opinion would be apprecieted…i.e. xbox fucking suks you fanboy, etc, etc.
Basically is this game really that pimp.
Yes.
Si.
Sim.
Oui.
Da.
Ja.
Shi.
Hai.
Got some more questions:
-
I never did find the red stone for duels…where is it? What kinds of rewards can you get for winning a duel, and what are the penalties for losing?
-
It looks like Boletaria is pure black now…anything I should watch out for?
-
How exactly do you trade items when there are restrictions as a blue phantom?
-
Do you have to have every item in the game on a single file in order to get every trophy?
-
It’s the Black Eye Stone. It drops from the first Black Phantom NPC you kill.
-
Black Phantoms, Primordial Demons, and all enemies are tougher.
-
Dropping items on the floor.
-
I think so.
I tried that at first, but I sucked and couldn’t hit them. I sat there for like 15 minutes, shot like 70 arrows, and only hit like two of them.
And then I said “fuck it” as well and tried to just Umeroll out of the way of all of them, but it was too hard to do that and fight the skeletons at the same time. Half the time I’d roll off the ledge myself just being dumb. Made me so angry.
Short answer…yeah. I play like less than a dozen games a year (half of which are sports games), and maybe only like three or four religiously/obsessively. This is one of them.
The question is whether or not you can even find a Blu-ray player out there that’s cheaper than a PS3. I know I couldn’t when I bought mine a few months back (though I didn’t really look that hard).
But consider that with a PS3 you are getting a Blu-ray player…AND A PLAYSTATION 3!!!
No need to kill him, just bring him down in life. Killing him just gives you his gear. Sad part is if you are doing a Black world tendency the sword does shit dmg since it is based on how “white” you are. Need to upgrade it so something like that doesnt matter.
Dragon God is a joke. Bulk of the dmg dealt to him is not even from you attacking.
Just found this out, you can have a black phantom actually help you out since the enemies in the level never attack him. Only problem is trying to get the person to believe you are on his side. Great way for tweaking a new character.
As for the trophies, i believe it just on the same PSN profile. You are able to make more than one character and would have to play different characters based on black and white tendency worlds.
Thats true…I just hope this game inst as easy as Oblivion…or any other RPG game for that matter.
Don’t get a PS3 just for this one game. Or else you end up like that Tales of Vesperia guy who broke his game in half and burned magazine covers lol! Just get a regular Bluray player.
No theres a black stone and red stone. Black is for invading and red is for dueling.
After my first run through the only time I saw a red stone dropped was when I was ready to fight the end boss lol
I’m just about done with my first playthrough with my original thief character. Worlds 2-5 are cleared, now I’m just setting all the worlds to pure black and getting special items and farming rare drops before it gets even harder in new game plus. 4-2 black phantom dual katana skeletons are raping the shit out of me already, I don’t want to fuck with that in new game plus just yet.
5-3 boss
[details=Spoiler]The 5-3 boss was not at all what I was expecting, I was quite confused the whole time as to whether I should even be killing her at all. As far as I could tell they were just chilling in a cave, trying to be left alone, and here I come busting into their place and trying to kill them.
It kind of made me wonder if it was some sort of moral commentary, since they kept accusing me of being greedy and just wanting more souls, while I kept attacking anyway despite my feelings of uncertainty, blindly following the game’s urging (it has a boss life bar so it must be a bad guy, kill it and get souls/loot!).
Interesting stuff all around, and also my favorite boss of the entire game.[/details]
I had a 360 first and I get pretty much all my multiplatform games on it, for controller preference and because all my friends that I play online games with have 360s. I have like maybe 5 games for the PS3, all exclusives, and I still feel like it’s a worthwhile purchase, especially now that I have Demon’s Souls. I have never really cared all that much for dungeon crawlers/RPGs but this game basically does what I have wanted RPGs to do for a long time: take all the stat-managing, looting and leveling up and apply it to a real-time combat system that has some actual depth and rewards player skill as much as stats and equipment.
IMO, the next step is to take Demon’s Souls gameplay and infuse it into an open-world environment like Elder Scrolls or something.
just got my compound long bow, ran into 4-1 to get it. wasn’t too hard 2 hit killing the skeletons. I already upgraded it to a sticky compound long bow + 3. need to farm more spider stone to finish upgrading it. It has an A rating for dex, meaning dex really calculates into the damage. I went into 3-1 for a bit and it wasn’t too bad but that stun spell is vicious and my new spear deals magic damage so I can’t 1 shot them. oh well, I gotta finish 1-3 and 1-4 anyway
get the compound long bow from 4-1, then pure black(enemies drop more frequently) world 2 and farm the miners for spiderstones in order to upgrade to the sticky compound long bow. you need 25 shards, 9 chunks, and 1 pure(armor spider drop) to upgrade it fully to +5. level your dex. up(30 max), and you’ll have the best bow in the game. also, don’t kill patches. get him to the nexus and he’ll sell heavy arrows, which are second only to the white arrows.
edit: my bad, you got it. when it’s fully upgraded, the dex. rank should be S.
lol, we posted at the same time but yeah I already got it and started the upgrade, already saved patched(and have plenty of heavy arrows)and my dex is already up to 20 (just 10 more levels).
it is funny, but good shit though. i’m assuming you know about the reaper spot at the beginning of 4-2 for easy leveling. i’ve heard that the anti-magic field would render the flayers useless. btw, anybody else have trouble with black phantom satsuki? he raped me for quite a while before i finally got his ass. also, has anyone gone through the bearbug nest in 2-2? if so, what equipment did you have, and is there anything worth picking up down there?
Flayers are pretty weak physically, just use some stealth and perhaps the thief’s ring to get the drop on them and give them a couple good two-handed strikes with your best weapon. You can also just pick them off from a distance with arrows, running away to reset their patrols if they get too close.
4-2 black phantom dual katana skeletons are seriously raping me, I’m basically resorting to the most hilarious bitch tactics imaginable because otherwise they pretty much kill me in one hit. Probably karma catching up to me for being a thief. At least they are dropping the chunks of bladestone that I want, assuming they don’t kill me or jump off the cliff like a moron.
