The dagger class has very low poise damage and relatively low direct damage outside of a bleed/backstab. So it’s counter hit bait or worse, just asking to be parried. Also the bleed from priscilla is deceptively slow to fill up. *though if you bait a parry as a dagger user, it’s hilarious.
Painting guardian sword/Gold tracer probably outclasses priscilla by far with both great damage and good bleed pressure on top of it. They’re like Falchions… with bleed, and the Painting guardian sword can be buffed as well. Possibly you can get 2 bleeds out relatively fast with either of those weapons or a bandit’s knife within nearly the same time period that you get with 1 bleed out of a priscilla.
Though on the bright side, daggers are pretty damn light and supposedly the new dagger inflicts toxic on it’s R2.
There are tricks, Hornets + Woodgrain with some really light armour lets you roll / flip around an enemy constantly, you’re very hard to kill directly, but in order to kill you need to be good at parrying, which is hard with lag. I’ve experienced firsthand what a dagger user can do in PvP with a Bandit’s Knife and Heater Shield offhand (that’s the best choice by the way, it’s fast and can block 100% physical with regular deflection). The Fire + 10 Heater Shield gives surprisingly good resistance as well.
Eh I’d personally fear a good rapier user than a equally good dagger user.
The estoc has been known to be one of the most potent weapons for pvp. Great defensive weapon overall.
•It has the rapier class’s crit damage modifier which makes it a pretty good backstab/parry weapon. Comparable to daggers. Have to do research again and look up the numbers but it’s 4 AM here lol.
•can poke from behind the shield like a spear but with less stamina used
•Counter hit pokes hurt a shit ton. Can be boosted further with Leo ring.
• range is comparable to spears/balders
• The R2 is a sweep. Great for setting up unblockables/dead angles.
Or a Great scythe user. Just because of dead angles.
I can’t deny how awesome heater shields are though lol.
Actually, Nito is fairly close to a bonfire. There are 2 bonfires in the ToTG. Really usefull if you want to farm humanity by killing those baby skeletons.
Also, I don’t think a fire +10 heater increases fire resistance (if that’s what you meant). Making something elemental just increases it’s fire damage, since you can actually wield a shield as a weapon (how godlike is that?).
PvP with the bandits knife isn’t the smartest thing to do. The moment anyone sees that thing, their first instinct will be that you’re a backstabfisher or a parry spammer and will deal with that accordingly. Best is to just use a different weapon (like a katana) and keep the knife offhand. Hit the parry, switch to knife, press rb and start the riposte animation.
Parrying is not that hard once you get the hang of it.You just have to get used to the weird timing caused by the lag.
Use a katana and hit their shield once. Wait a second > parry.
Walk towards him , stand in front him for a sec > parry. These just works so many times it’s stupid.
Parrying roll attacks are fairly easy aswell. Or you can just try and read your opponent and do a psychic parry.
If you want a easy area to practice this, I suggest the Painted world.
Uchigatana or Iaito.
Uchi = slightly more damage, lower stats needed.
Iaito = slightly less damage and needs higher stats than uchi, but has a better moveset.
Lightning Swords are only really good if you intend to get the stats to wield them, but no more, it’s for builds that intend to spam spells as well as use the weapon, otherwise you’ll hit harder with an upgraded one due to scaling. Lightning Uchigatana (easier to wield than an Iaito) with an off - handed heater shield / catalyst is a strong combo.
The Washing Pole is good for anyone going into Strength as well because it has crazy ass range and high base damage with lower ratios, so it doesn’t hurt as much to turn it into an elemental weapon.
Not exactly a Katana but the Murakumo (curved greatsword) does insane damage, can you stunlock someone pretty easy with that.
It does increase the damage, but it also increases the amount it blocks a certain element by, reducing the amount of damage you take by blocking magic / fire / lightning etc. It depends on the shield how good those increases are. For the Heater shield it goes from 70 to 84. You get the same increase from 70 to 84 for a Fire Bloodshield as well for example. The disadvantage is the stability is highest when you go down the normal upgrade path, but when I want a shield for stability I use my Silver Knight’s Shield +5, that thing is godlike as an all - round shield.
I don’t use the Bandit’s Knife, I’ve seen it though. I can parry effectively as well, my main set for PvE / sometimes PvP is the Dragonslayer spear / Silver Knights Shield with Lightning Bolt miracle spam, when I want to demolish things in PvP I favour the Lifehunt Scythe and Bloodshield or a Murakumo.
Seath The Scaleless. It takes a good ten, STRESSFUL minutes to get to him and when you finally do he can kill you with curse crystals in less than 5 seconds. It’s comepletley ridiculous.
I’ve had it equipped since Orn and Smough. I can’t bring myself to unequip it because I know it’s going to break and be gone forever. Lol.
The FAP ring is a staple guys, everyone that’s anyone puts it on for life.
I managed to get the tail weapon off the Sanctuary Guardian, accidentally walked into the Artorias fight. I can actually fast roll so I was in the fight until he powered up and I let him not knowing I could get free hits in and he killed me in one hit of his swinging lunge attack. I thought he was going to be more of challenge so far it’s just a Stamina managing simulator.
I don’t understand how you can have any trouble with Seath honestly. His curse attack barely does damage nor does it fill the curse meter fast (even with shitty curse resistance). And on top of that it’s fairly easy to make the attack miss if you pay attention.
And trust me Artorias ain’t no joke when you try him when you’re level 20 and don’t have long range options. Took me about 2 hours to kill him.
Yeah Seath is easy, just equip the Cursebite ring, the trick to that fight is just not to bother locking on and just to stay close to him, you can burst him down. As for the the stressful minutes, at first I was treading water, I already knew about the invisible path gimmick, but I didn’t know the way, once I had that figured out it was no problem.
I’m more worried about Seath’s tail than his beam. Don’t want to be anywhere near that shit when he flops it around. Sucks if you’re planning on getting his tailed chopped solo. Moonlight greatsword is so amazing.
Oh right, might as well post this most likely a repost
I got him first attempt as a spear user with like… almost 100 poise. I just… well… blocked. I haven’t tried that shit on NG+, given the amount of stamina I was losing when I blocked a few of those attacks, I have a feeling it might be a lot harder. I didn’t find much of the expansion that difficult, it was rather short as well, some of the fights are pretty fun though, like the dragon and the final boss fight, it’s especially cool if you summon Sif.
You find it in New londo ruins.
It’s in the building with the guy standing on the roof.
You have to follow one of the paths and it should be on a ledge somewhere. But just search the whole building and you’ll find it eventually.
