My new knight character was designed pretty much entirely with the goal of making a Guts-style character, I even tried to make him look sort of like Guts. My ultimate goal was to get pure white wold tendency on World 2 and grab the Keel Smasher greatsword in the final boss room but I fucked it up so I’m probably just going to start over with him from the very beginning, and now I’ve learned my lesson so it shouldn’t happen again.
Actually, can’t you just back up save files onto an external USB device with the PS3? I might try that next time as an added safety net.
You can rage reset the game (quit from the xmb) and then reload the game. You’ll be outside right in front of the entrance. I did that against the Phalanx boss when I realized I didn’t wanna suicide and that I didn’t have enough firebombs to take him on (1 firebomb and no bow/arrows = definite nono). Don’t know if this is considered an exploit, but seems like there is no saving during the boss fight until you either die, win or quit properly from the menu.
^ Yeah you can backup saves(if the game allows it, SFIV doesn’t let you.) If you got an older model PS3, you can backup saves to pretty much any memory card. If not, USB cable —> PSP works as well as a thumb drive.
So, I made a sale on Kijiji. I should be getting this game a lot sooner than I thought I would be. Gonna go finish Uncharted 2 now.
O well too late for me then since I already quit properly from the menu hours ago. Sucks being a thief. I had a similar problem with Phalanx but I just killed each of the shield monsters one by one until there wasn’t much left protecting it.
If you are that early in the game you can just restart as a knight or something. It’s much, much easier and you can probably get to back to where you were in an hour or two. Unless you really want to play thief, which is fine because IMO a light build is really fun, it’s just way harder, especially in the beginning. I just restarted again with temple knight and got past phalanx in no time.
I was actually having a great time playing.I got the meat cleaver,Whooped the Old King to get DemonBrandt and his armor and leveled up a ton.My only problem tonight was having this happen when i was in the middle of playing in someone’s game…
I beat him all the way.The armor i’m wearing in the video(aside from the stylin’ gloom helmet :p) is all his. Another one of the games issues is the exploitable AI patterns. If you draw him past the catapults on the bridge you can wail on him when he’s walking backwards with little to no repercussions. It may be a different story in body mode but in soul mode this worked.Plus the Meat Cleaver is too strong, interrupting most of his attacks if timed right.
EDIT:You get his armor set and the Eternal Warrior ring for beatng him btw.his armor stats aren’t amazing but its almost as good as heavy armor without the stamina slowing and the Eternal Warrior ring speeds up stamina regeneration.
Another exploit I found when fighting the Old King is you can get him stuck behind the door of his Mausoleum. If you have a two handed sword you can actually attack THROUGH the door while he’s just walking behind it.
I see why the Maneater is such a hated boss. I managed to defeat him alone after a few failed attempts during co-op play. It’s all about the middle of the bridge.
I used Soul Arrow on the boss. I had on the ring of magical sharpness and the Monk headwrap to boost the damage. Funny thing about the headwrap…I picked it up when I joined someone else’s game and I became the black phantom, but the host died, heh. I didn’t know what was going on until after I beat the Maneater.
It’s a single player game that has persistent but passive online play. You don’t have to play with anyone else, though other players will leave useful messages to help you out. You will also see other players in their own games doing things momentarily.
Haha. My second playthrough or something I will try a specific build. This charcter I kind of went with a little of everything. And yeah, the 4-1 boss is ridiculously easy so long as you have a bow or something.
I beat the Phalanx by just killing off the smaller guys and while it was clear, walked behind him and kept stabbing him with my Long Sword.
