Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

How many hours did it take you? I clocked in at around a 10X hours, it took me a 10X hours in Demon’s Souls too. I want a Euro copy of Demon’s Souls so I have an excuse to play the game again, heh.

Took me 167 hours for 2 and 3/4 playthroughs. Knight’s Honor achievement is the grinder.

Yeah, it think it took me 15X hours. 110 for my first playthough, 25 for my second, and 10 for my last half playthrough.

Is it bad that I’m at 23X hours and still no Plat?

Only need is Channeler’s Trident, all Miracles, and max Chaos/Fire/Divine/Occult (which is easy).

I’ve come to the conclusion that googling shit with this game is unavoidable, if one desires a platinum.

Hell, poise ain’t even covered anywhere obvious.

They have all the correct info for achievements and stuff there, they’re compiling the Japanese Wiki info into it too.

Poise is garbage. I wish it was never introduced.

I don’t think its totally garbage, I mean it gives people a reason to use heavy armor at all, it just has way too strong of an effect imo. I’d be ok with them getting rid of it, but they need to find a way to make both light and heavy builds viable =/

I think the Dark Wood Grain Ring is the thing that makes heavy armor too good. There is an obvious difference in the 3 tiers of weight but if you can keep your armor under 50% and equip the ring it’s as fast as light armor, hence everyone running around in upgraded giants and doing ninja flips. It’s all the benefits with the only downside of using up a ring slot, which is much better tradeoff. They should make ninja flipping enabled to light armor users and just have heavy armor users have the light roll but a heavy run speed still.

Plus I read the poise break points are 55 and 76, if you have a number in between that you’re not getting an optimized benefit (it will act like 55 poise if you have like 60).

Those breakpoints are mainly designed vs Claymore/Zweihander.

The only reason I detest it is because despite the lag, you can react to a person’s swing and counter-swing. If you had the higher poise you get the following results;

Cause I love spoiler tags

[details=Spoiler]Opponent hits first VS You hit second = You win
Opponent hits second VS You first = You win
Both hit at the same time = Hardest hitting weapon win.[/details]

More often than not the person with the highest poise will win only because they get stunned/staggered less. I understand it is there to prevent stun-lock and that’s cool and everything.

If it was up to me (which it clearly isn’t) I would keep everything about poise the same, but make the whole swing animation from start to finish interruptible depending on the weapon type; heavy weapons require two hits from light to interrupt and what not.

In any case this is just me being angry. I find it dumb that I lose in PvP if I don’t stack poise but the minute I do, I can win.

So I noticed that in Blight town you the the Pyromancer starting set. In Darkroot Garden, you get the knight and so on and so on. No one really touched on this so am I to assume that its the games way of telling this set/class has the default build to handle this area’s biggest threat?

Spoiler

Actually, it’s letting you know where your NPCs originally died.

I don’t think it has anything to do with that class’ ability to deal with the area (otherwise you would just find Bandit’s armor everywhere huehuehue). It’s just the armor left behind by another undead.

Yo, that is a sad thing to read. Dunno why but that cut somewhat deep.

That makes a lot of sense… kind of sucks though. It would be awesome if the bodies had a bloodstain and you could see how YOU died.

Yo, that was deep.

ive been doing a lot of pvping lately just cause i run around in human form at all times and the pvp is the worst aspect of the game imo. yesterday i got backstabbed from the front again and i mean like 2 character spaces away from the front. no one who uses magic has been able to do anything significant against me because i side step everything. it’s too easy to run and heal. backstabbing becomes ALMOST irrelevant if it doesnt kill outright as you have invincibility while laying on the floor and you can run and heal.

im thinking of building a ranger class and rolling with crossbows/bows the whole time just to see how it changes the feeling of the game. i got a pure melee and pure magic build so far.

im outi

Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls

Spoiler

The same thing is kinda true with Demon’s Souls. The corpses with full sets imply that almost every NPC in Demon’s Souls is dead and in Soul Form, and just don’t know it. Dark Souls is a little different in that you can summon certain NPCs, then find their armor set, It’s noted that there are time distortions, so either they help you, then die, or they died but get summoned by you. I imagine the only NPCs not to die normally are Solaire and Lautrec.

OHHHH Those armor sets. I thought you meant the player character armor sets. Yeah for those summonable NPCs I thought the same thing.

Ok so I’ve finally started a new character with the new patch and umm did this game get way easier or is it just me? Enemies aggro way differently, for exampel the Chaneler before the Gargoyles was such a pushover compared to the annoying pain in the groin he generally is.
