That’s not the soundtrack, it’s the the Drama CD.

The latest Arcadia issue includes some concept art for the DB characters, most of which is IMO far superior to the final versions (official and in-game art).

For instance, Dawn’s proportions are perfectly reasonable, which not only relieves him of some of the “dumb and brutish” factor, but also makes his octopus arm stand out more (its tentacles also “grow out of” his deltoid muscles, rather than covering his entire shoulder and part of his chest!). The designer comments mention that his image is that of an “American comics hero.”

Other characters who IMO turned out for the worse in the final product include Kureha (her concept version is more loli-goth and less sad teen-esque, Asmodeus is not constantly poised at her shoulder like some ventriloquist’s dummy), Nina (see Kureha), Asuma (somewhat more sophisticated, and Uriel resembles a monk rather than a suit of armour), Dusk (less freakish, yet more intimidating) and Eve (she wears a blue longcoat and uses some sort of horsewhip rather than those over-the-top shoeblades). Also, Pekomaru brings the Hound of Baskerville to mind (merely add small bat-wing ears, pointed tail, long fangs), and Shiffon sits in a birdcage atop Leviathan’s head!

On the other hand, some characters were improved. Noah carries an axe which dwarfens him (see: Tsunade from Kabuki Klash) and Yui is armed with a short sword and small shield or (in a second picture) knuckle dusters with blades which protrude vertically from them.

I wanna buy the magazine, but is there any chance of you scanning the pages anyhoo?

It’s not exactly a cool move to talk down to me without knowing me, or to criticize some one else’s art that you don’t know personally either.

The moment you submit/display/post/reveal ANY professional grade art to the public, you’d better believe people have every right to criticize it. And I didn’t talk down on you either.

Either way, the girls with the high-pitched voices annoy me too. Unless they somehow manage to make it work. Like Hakura in Vanguard Princess, who has rather gar sounding spell declares, and Taokaka who’s just fun.

Personally I think the designs used in the final version are more fitting for the theme of the game.

You know what’s interesting is that you see most of the cast being used with a couple exceptions. I don’t see Noah or Licht, maybe Dawn being used that much, but everyone else seems to get a fair amount of play. No arguing, Kuon does a ton of damage, and Pekomaru has some intense mixup going on, but it’s nothing overly broken. I wonder if anyone will discover anything to abuse because as it stands, I’m rather impressed, especially since it didn’t turn into the runaway game everyone anticipated. :tup:

weird that you say you don’t see Licht/Noah much 'cuz I feel like I see Licht and Noah pretty often in vids. Haven’t seen much Dawn in vids but I don’t really find him interesting so whatever.

I see loads of videos with Noah online and Licht online. However, you’re going to struggle to find Shiffon, Dusk and Asuma matches.

Yeah, Licht and Pekomaru have levelled up alot. Check the Nicovideo matches from the last 5 days.
The Asuma players haven’t been using much crossup stuff much, but Pekomaru, Kureha and Nina players have.

Can anyone tell me if Dusk a link based character like Slayer?
Because he seems that way from the videos I’ve been watching.

P.S I can link all the good Pekomaru matches if you want.

I think thats the only Dusk ive seen win. lol

From what I can see, it has some pretty difficult timing stuff, plus its all a Corner combo that starts from a Counter Hit and you have to be in MAX mode beforehand. which seems impractical enough as it is.

Pozer is the only Priest player I know, so he’s the one that could really have a say on this.

Shiffon is so dope, but I found myself playing the hellhound more. He just crazy combos/mixup, I noticed japs didnt use any of his ex’s that much any reason?

counter-hit isn’t required for 5A 5B chain. Would take 3 bars and MAX and Licht burns bars for his normal B&B but that’s pretty much just his normal B&B extended to use up bar into MAX super. Not that hard for Licht to pin someone in the corner with lazers then activate and fish for big damage.

MAX mode is pretty big damage for everybody, though, so whatever. Pekomaru in MAX kills you in like 2-3 mixups, Asuma in MAX does like 70-80% for no meter, etc.

Pekomaru’s EX moves aren’t terribly good but his super is okay. I’ll use 236AB to get a puddle mixup off B&B sometimes, but I don’t really think it’s that great except against certain reversals (Licht 22x) but against those you can just do fly cancel safe-jump-in crossup stuff off whatever to 236A or 3C 22B.
j236AB is okay for gimmick hits or whatever I guess. Sometimes useful for ending fly loop. Super is more reliable for that, though, which is why I usually save bar.

ah ok. so it is normally possible, but you just wont see that whole combo often cause Licht uses up a lot of bar anyway.

Is that yellow-hair Reizei the secret battle when playing as a “Good” character? I’ve only ever fought the judge. and I’ve only really played with “Evil” characters.
