So while watching wolfkrone play vs cammy players at NEC, and having played vs him online myself, i went into training mode looking for a way to counter his play style of never quick teching vs cammy knockdown, and i came across a safe jump setup i haven’t ever seen anyone mention.
combo into rh sa, jump to the other side, then immediately do a neutral jump mk. You can go for a crossup short, and when you see they didn’t quick tech, do the neutral jump mk.
it safe jumps
sagats dp,
** viper’s fierce knuckle**
fei longs dp.
it actually ducks under zangiefs wakeup reversal punch lariat, and stuffs kick lariat.
all versions of deejays upkicks
chun li ex bird
cammy’s dp
rose ultra 2
gen ex dp
That’s all i’ve tested thus far.
does not safe jump
ibuki ex dp
guile flash kick
dudley ex dp
guy’s ex spin thingy
blanka ex upball
adon is still gay
3 frame dp durrr
Cammy’s neutral moves are pretty ass so i’m not sure if it would work on every character due to her moves not having much range, but nevertheless i haven’t seen anyone mention this setup.
This is only good if you notice people not doing quick tech after a spiral knockdown.
If other people could test this out that’d be nice. I don’t have anything to record with, sorry.
That’s pretty cool, it’s basically a safe jump against 5 frame reversals it sounds like, and a nice alt setup if people don’t quick tech the SA instant crossup. However shouldn’t that go in the matchup thread or something? >.>
That’s REALLY cool, madoc. I’ll definitely give this a shot. I’ve been trying to find Safe Jump setups with Cammy and she doesn’t have many (not that I know of, anyhow). So this is really cool.
someone on the stream mentioned this during one of the 2 streamed tournies last weekend, forgot which one… I think when marlinpie was playing, they said that he found an unblockable against rufus. But then he did the backthrow setup and the Rufus could block, so not sure if he made a mistake or it did not work.
oh yeah guys by the way for those of you that have facebook i made a page on it called “The Gnosis Empire” i will have updates on things i have discovered in SSF4, sometimes well im hoping alot of times there will be videos and also a variety of other things people are just generally into and have lack of knowledge of. So if you have facebook please check it out also add me my user name on facebook is “Jago Margqulius shinszengate”
The Unblockable on Rufus DOES work. I do it all the time. It’s just really easy to escape if they know about it. It’s not frightening like Chun’s Unblockable on Cammy.
Back Throw, hold towards on the controller (walk at Rufus’s body) and RIGHT when you see Cammy barely start to move, hit Forward Kick. You’ll notice you push Rufus ever so slightly by leaning forward. Then Jump forward and hit Fierce. I’ve done it in Training Mode, Rufus cannot block either direction.
If you wanna test it in Training Mode, MAKE SURE to make you control Rufus and set Cammy as the Dummy. Record the sequence and try blocking with Rufus. If done right, if you hold Forward on the controller, Cammy stays in front. If you hold back on the controller, it becomes a Cross-up and Cammy hits you from behind and will land on the other side. It’s entirely dependent on which direction Rufus holds the controller, so if you try it just by messing with Cammy, you’ll never see the cross-up actually happen. By default, if Rufus doesn’t hold anything, Cammy lands in front.
The problem is that it’s SUPER easy to escape: just duck. Everything falls apart if he does that and he can even crouch and punish you before you land because you have to hit Fierce so high up in the air. Of course, if they DON’T know about it, you can really f*ck them up bad!!! Hahahahaha. But against those that know the trick, it almost never works.
Oh right, Safe Jumps off of Back Throw are very possible, but it’s really hard to find a setup to make it consistent. Like characters like Akuma have almost Auto Safe-Jump timing on certain setups, whether it be immediately Jumping or having a Normal that lasts exactly the right length to make the Jump a Safe Jump. Off of the Back Throw, Crouch Strong whiff and Jump only works on Chun because Chun has a slower Reversal (6 frames). Crouch Strong lasts one or two frames too long for it to work on guys like Fei Long and you often end up Jumping over some characters. So she actually needs to walk backwards for a few frames then Jump Forward, but there’s not way to guarantee you time it right. You just gotta practice and get good at it.
Crouch strong whiff works for all the characters with 5frames and more startup .So it does work on fei long .U do your backthrow ,plink cr mp and jump .Vs 5frames i use plinked cr lk whiff because i have 1 more frame window to do my safe jump .Vs Adon u have to throw , walk back 3 frames and jump. Vs cammy and Sagat cr mp is very easy because they wakeup 1frame later , so if u whiff cr mp and hold jump , u have exactly 2 frames window to do your safe jump. U can be just as consistent as Ryu and Akuma with it .
FINALLY found an Elf, got the chance to try Strike OS Cannon Spike (auto-correct). beats escape reversal ex dp (legs?) and Backdash. i ended up using cannon spike MORE than usual (as a counter measure to his run specials.).
OS: at 0:29 and 1:13

Vs Random Akuma (managed to stuff hp srk with lk strike) :wgrin:

Note: Thanks Diana (or Prince? ) for allowing me to explore the elf matchup. even tho we discussed this MONTHS ago. this OS is viable. so on elfs wakeup its either throw (beats EX Run) or Strike OS Spike. :china:
