Well, that wasn’t really much input. Um… though your j.RH was funny to watch, it isn’t safe and you put yourself in the corner. Not a place to be against Gief. I really liked your wake-up game with TKCS. But I’ve noticed it’s really risky. If he wake-up with either Ex.Green Hand or Lariat you end up playing his wake-up game, which honestly is safer than yours to play :(. Sometimes, I’ll try to apply wake-up pressure against Gief by alternating between throws (stop Lariats and Green Hand) and TKCS (Stops all grabs). Overall, my strategy against almost all Giefs is to wait, poke, counter whiffs, and (rarely) rushdown (but mostly wait). It’s a long, boring match, where we both dance the time away. BUT ultimately it’s a SAFE strategy.
amabdul you do know he wasn’t playing serious at all against that Gief?
Or am I getting trolled.
Well, I recognized that with all the Jumping roundhouse. But I thought I should comment on his performance during the 3rd round. Yeah, that Gief was super scrub. But had he been really good, Geoff’s rushdown/wake-up strategy would have had him losing real fast. Just thought I should share what knowledge I know about the Gief matchup.
because he had all the knowledge of how to use zangief -_-
i appreciate the good will though
LOLLLL I almost spit my coffee out!
lol wow, Geoff was just being stupid.
Yo Geoff when you play people who know you and you start picking characters you don’t know how to play and just spam shit it really doesn’t reflect well. Know how you made a tournament serious vid then you go play tournament players with that bullshit? Just saying it doesn’t reflect well, but then again you may not just be a serious player.
yes because endless battle is definitely my favorite tournament
also inviting yourself to my game and expecting me (and my friends playing for me) to play how you want me to play (especially drunk) is a good tournament as well
edit: also not sending me a message asking me to play seriously is the best tournament
In an interview with Daigo, Daigo said he only played 10% serious at EVO 2010.
But anyways I don’t think Geoff ever plays serious. This may or may not be a good thing, for him.
Dude, unless you’re playing for money, there’s no reason to take casuals seriously. Hell, experimenting is how you learn what works and what doesn’t. Using Ex Spin Knuckle to counter Bison’s Cross-up psycho crusher is both hilarious and effective.
I like to be like The Slaughterer. Sounds pretty efficient.

Guys, I need help finding a Sako video. I dont remember who is he fighting, but almost sure its in the Africa stage.
In a round Sako does the DP fadc Ultra. After that he does two Drills to stay close, delayed strike as the opponent gets up, (crossed up and reset with) cr.HP ~ cr.MK spiral arrow.
Please! I think the inputs are shown in this replay.
Any1 interested can edit and upload on youtube this

not that interesting, but it’s a new match of Sako.
This video showed a pretty interesting contrast. There were two videos of high level cammy players vs akuma players. The first cammy was Sako. In this match it seemed that every time Sako scored a knockdown on akuma he wouldn’t press the advantage, he’d just perform a QCS to build meter (or possibly to bait a wake up dp) then immediately back dash away, settling for a reset. The one and only time he pressured on wake up was at the very end of the final round when he went for a cross up EX Cannon Strike, but in that case Akuma was chip damage away from death. He eventually won the match 2-0. Conversely, every time the other high bp cammy player, KIRITAMPOPO, scored a knock down on tokido’s Akuma he’d attempt to press the advantage, going for j.lk cross up or cannon strike cross up. His attempts were either blocked or whiffed every time until his final cannon strike on wake up finally landed… only for Akuma to come out of hit stun before cammy recovered from her cannon strike allowing akuma to DP’d her and instantly corner her, a situation that would lead to his being vortexed and ultimately to KIRITAMPOPO losing the match 0-2.
Now their wake up pressure game tendencies weren’t necessarily why they won or lost, a lot of factors played into it, but it does at least raise some questions about whether or not its worth attempting to pressure shotos (or at least akumas) after knock downs. I know I’ve seen Sako pressure DP characters on wake up before, but most of the matches where he’s done it I’ve scrounged up, he A) had a much lower BP back then and thus may have learned it wasn’t worth it and B) he had surprisingly little success with it in the videos I found. There’s one video on you tube where he beats a ken (claimed to be diago though it might be his friend since I’m told its his friends account, he just uses it some times) in which he mostly pressures on wake up, but almost never gains any advantage for his trouble and in a couple instances, eats a dp for trying. Overall he won for other reasons, but his attempting to pressure seemed to have put him at a handicap, not helped him.
Even just rewatching the first 3 sets of Sako’s God’s Garden match against Tokido’s Akuma I can’t help but notice that he rarely pressured on wake up, often either QCS’ing then back dashing, or even just standing there. He did pressure on some occasions after a knock down but usually only when Akuma was chip damage away from death. Most of the times when this wasn’t the case and he pressured he either whiffed, or ate a DP.
Definitely given me food for thought, at lest with regard to the akuma match up, thanks for the links.
That U1 after his c.rh at 0:25… is that effective or did he just not block?
I’ve lost a tonne of points on Ranked recently and I need all the help I can get.
Geoff, not asking you to play tournament serious, just not plain stupid mashin shit. I don’t play super tournament serious online because online is for trying new things and figuring shit out. Down back is super boring.
Solarbear
Ryu’s cHK is -14 on block, Cammy’s ultra is 10 frame start up, you have plenty of time to punish. I usually either cMK->arrow or just plain arrow on block. With Fei it’s the same idea for rekka’s so I’m used to it. It’s gotta be ingrained in you though because otherwise you’ll focus on looking for the sweep and get jumped in on.
what was the purpose of that gief fight?
@ Dan
I definitely feel its beneficial to let the shoto know he can get attacked on wakeup…You can stuff ryu and ken dps on wakeup or crossup and force a dp whif… as far as against akuma i think its best to crossup or either safe jump/option select a teleport. You cant let the fact that someone has a dp hinder your smart rushdown. Although that akuma ex dp is no joke
Hey Bokkin, can you get on mic next time? I’d like to ask you for some tips and such.
New Ranked session GET!
K guys, I’ve uploaded a few matches from ranked tonight. It’s the first time in a pretty long time I’ve been feeling pretty good about my game. However, I could always use the help. I’d like some constructive criticism PLEASE! I’ve included the input as well. You might need to wait a few minutes for high quality depending on when you watch these…
