As long as Nightwing has meter (and the opponent doesn’t), he has a Block Infinite in the corner. Potential nastiness after the opponent lost his white bar/is downed. Force a pushblock, or just get a ton of free damage.

Hey I found this out recently, if a Grundy player is in the middle of his lunging grapple move. You can use his qcb H (while in staff stance) and you can hit Grundy out of it. I’ll upload a video of it soon.

Character Trait: Stance Switch

Well if you haven’t figured it out by now, Nightwing’s character trait is his two stances. The Trait Button, 4, allows him to switch between them at his leisure. It isn’t instant though like some other character traits. It takes 31 Frames for the switch to occur, a long time. However, Nightwing has some depth to this trait. First off, you can cancel into the switch from a lot of his normals, par for the course with character traits. And secondly…you can special cancel out of it half way through with proper timing. This makes it possible to do stance switch combos and allows for safer neutral switches. Another thing to take note of is special to his special move Staff Spin. When you press trait at the right time during it (or just mash it) he automatically goes to Escrima immediately after the move. Also remains safe doing so. Proper mastery of Nightwing will be to utilize all of the above.

I been some thinking. Since specials have invincibility on wakeup and ground spark can be dash cancelled I wonder if the invincibility would extend to the dash. If so it could give Wing some roll cancel type tech when he gets knocked down.

The Invincibility varies. I’m pretty sure it would wear off before you could backdash.

But it does not hurt to check.

Wingdings are so good, I don’t know who said they weren’t useful but I have to disagree. MB with them is also very strong, especially since you can fake it out.

has anyone discovered any safe blockstrings, consistent pressure + gimmicks and what have you?

b112 is +2. d12 is +8. That’s in Escrima.

As for Pressure, you have Staff. Continuous poking with 1f1 or d1. You have Stance Switch stuff. You have the ability to force the opponent to guess four different ways to block at once.

For pressure while in staff, use the block infinite with MB db3. It’s great to use on dudes who don’t pushblock

Remember though, it doesn’t work on 4 characters.

For those of you using nightwing, please explain to me how you switch to your staff in mid combo so fast? I cant seem to do it. I’ve seen videos of people juggling someone in the air and boom switch to the staff and do a nasty combo. I’m using a 8-button fighting stick and havent changed any settings in terms of controls. If you have any tips, please help me

Just time your trait button press as you would a special move cancel. Then half way through the switch animation, special cancel that.

I’m been at the lab trying to find moves that will cause the opponent to stand but I found nothing. All of Nightwing moves neither end on a juggle or knockdown. I was hoping to find such a move as their are some characters I prefer to not knockdown. If I had the choose I won’t knockdown Raven or Deathstroke.
