Is that b2 combo midscreen or corner?
Both, though if you’re talking about the last one you don’t need the dash forward and can do other things.
f213 xx df2, f3, j2, f213 xx db3 = 33% End in Escrima
This is generally the combo I use for my BnB, though I have found an easier variation on it that does about the same damage, for anyone having trouble.
f213 xx df2, f3, j2, 333. I believe it does 31% damage, hard to see on an SDTV. It’s not too tricky to time but honestly a lot of things work after j2 juggle. Just helping out anyone who’s still learning, definitely harder to mess up directions too.
Great thread, Saitsu!
It’s easier but you also lose the close Hard KD. You can use it though if you want distance but also want to stay in Escrima.
So what’s nightwing’s answer to cross ups?
…Block and pushblock.
So no move or uppercut.
Not for crossups unless you like giving your opponent free combos.
having trouble connecting db3 in:
f213 xx df2, f3, j2, f213 xx db3
- seems really hard, opponent seems to be to far to connect.
Also, I think this could be neat, it crosses up:
113, dash under, db3
I haven’t had time to play anyone so I don’t know how realistic it would be in game with quick-get ups.
For the first, it’s really not that tough. Just make sure you land the j2 early to get to the ground quicker.
For the second…eh. It would be useful except that landing that 113 and going into a reset is a waste of landing the 1. It’s usually only used as a punish option since it’s a high. At the very least though you can confirm it. But that’s a tactic that’s a one and done thing.
I never said thanks for this thread, so thanks.
Any videos of you or some good nightwing players?
Corner combo, options?
Video of me? Not that I know of. There’s video out there of Guamo though, he’s good.
Corner combos, someone on TYM had a huge compendium of them uploaded. Once we get that straightened out, I’ll bring the video and the optimal combo notations over.
are there any bnb’s that start with the L,L,H QCF+M string?
All the ones that start with f213 can also be started by 113.
I been having a bitch of a time comboing 3 from b2. I usually end up canceling b2 into df2 and has worked for the best. Let’s get dangerous.
That’s not a wise move. It’s not a hard link, just don’t try it from absolute max range.
The reward for actually landing a b2 xx df2 is less than the reward the opponent is given for blocking it.
Just use the 3. If I can land it ONLINE consistently, you should be having no issues.
Ah ok maybe the timing is a little tighter when using L,L,H, the f+H connects but Jumping M whiffs.
also staff comb: L,F+L~STANCE, QCF+M. is there some specific trick to this or should i just do it as fast as possible.
Cancel the first hit of H otherwise the combo gets fucked. You also have to do it faster than in f213 because the string itself is faster.
And there’s a specific timing, which involves Stance Canceling in itself. The visual timing’s easier going into Staff from Escrima because the input is supposed to happen right when you slam the sticks together to make the staff. It’s a bit tougher the other way around visually but the physical timing should be the same.
ah ok thanks for the tips. l,l,h…seems to be easier that F+m,l,h, when jumping in. or should i just work on landing the medium bnb starter.
When jumping in with j2, 113 is indeed better, or at least easier for the most part to land. Especially since the main weakness of 113 (first hit being duckable) is gone when you connect j2 on hit or block. On hit, it jails the opponent forcing them to stand to let the rest of your combo complete. On block…they’d have to stand to block it to begin with.
