any C. Viper strats? from what ive seen and from experience, lk and ex upkicks can snuff most burning kick attempts if timed correctly.
^ my good friend plays viper and i play him all the time.
all sobats are safe unless viper has ultra.
lk sobat beats most of her crouching pokes
blocked cr. fierce x ex seismo gets beat by reversal lk sobat.
honestly don’t try to get in on her because if you mess up and she knocks you down you’re in a world of hit.
i played the match like i was honda with a fireball and my friends viper couldn’t really do anything.
ah ok, thanks for the info, and yeah, there is no point in trying to get in, she is going to come to you anyway.
cool I was looking for viper advice. after fighting the top 2 NA vipers (BP wise) online somehow, I found I was lost as hell in that match.
I didnt find out that LK sobat and EX can go over the Seismos, easily. so her pressuring you with it isnt so bad.
vs the EX seismo its a lot harder timing.
can the LK sobat go over her low thunder knuckle? I hate that move so much.
Great Info. I tested that out a few times in the training room and it works
lol I didn’t want to share my secrets, but jcool was calling me a masher. JK though I think Dee Jays need all the help they can get so I’m glad to share.
don’t put words in my mouth lol why wouldn’t you share that with the community?
i see how it is. i share everything and everybody is pulling a j wong =x
idk I didn’t think that I was the only one who knew about it. Now yall know, hopefully everybody else will find it here too.
Abel
[]Reversal MK upkick after f. MK > dash, it?s the best option with no meter, beats everything except it flies over cr. LK, if this happens you can switch to using LK sobat afterwards. Reversal LK sobat beats everything except EX tornado throw, and cr. LP. Reversal EX upkick/U2 hits everything, but DON?T GET BAITED!
[]Abel can?t punish MK/HK sobat. Meaty jump in > cr. LP (block) > HK sobat, or combo on hit. You can’t be thrown out of the startup of sobats.
[]After 1st Rekka you can reversal LK/MK/EX upkick, reversal EX MGU > EX sobat/walk U2, Reversal EX sobat, or reversal U2 (won?t hit if he doesn?t continue with the rekkas). The first two are best options.
[]If you block the 2nd Rekka and you have charge you can LK sobat before 3rd hit.
[]Punish U1 (block) with U2, or walk up MK > cr. MK, or walk up cr. LP > combo
[]Punish Super (block) with U2, or cr. MP > punish combo

Punish U2 on whiff with a combo if he’s close, walk up throw, or cr. HK. Try EX sobat to stuff it if he’s charging it.
You can throw Abel out of his roll during the animation. Honestly its a hard fight for me, idk if its just me though. Basically you try to zone him as best you can, and if you get a knockdown pressure him with vortex because he doesn’t have many options. His best is option on wake up is probably to EX roll away. Watch out for his wheel kick, its his overhead, and it has long reach. Also his EX Rekka (CoD) has armor, so be careful. Try to sobat during his poke strings when you’re close, to possible avoid tick throws, since sobat is unthrowable during start up.
You’re probably going to get thrown, overheaded, and take a lot of damage, but its winnable. You want to play defense mostly, until you get a knock down. Don’t play too defensive though, because Abel is nothing but 50/50’s and sooner or later he breaks the defense.
ALSO blocking is always an option. Backdashing is always an option too. I didn’t mention them on the list, but you should try and mix them in your game. Don’t be predictable.
do not let guile sweep you.
after you block the first part you can
reversal lk
late ex dread
late ex mgu > any follow up (preferably dash U2)
dreads are not safe on block. if your opponent doesn’t know this then abuse them over obvious cr. forward spam.
do not get into a fireball war because guile beats sagat in a fireball war. how are deejay supposed to win that?
his fireball is hard to punish on reaction with ex dreads and U1. i honestly recommend U2 in this matchup.
Vortex all day. he has nothing to save him from deep crossups.
*disclaimer. i haven’t played against any amazing guiles, but most of this has work on mid level guiles.
Runaway Seth, and when I say run away, I’m talking bout chip w/ sonic booms life lead… flip backwards flip backwards, gets cornered head stomp to other side stir and repeat.
I’m going to learn how to fight Seth tomorrow. So far I have a list of each characters punishes, and what beats what in different situations. I’m almost done, I’ve got like 10 more to go, mostly just the ones I already know how to beat.
Who I don’t know how to fight is Adon. Most of his specials are safe if spaced right, except Jaguar Kick which you can stuff pretty easy. Usually I just turtle up and idk how I win.
Anyone got Adon strats?
Lk upkick can stop his jumpins, be carefu with your down charge cause those stretch arms really suck, the only high level seth I fought got greedy and lost to my ultra when he tried to chip me with his. I’m not proud, but I don’t know the matchup incredibly well, but I will say that his level of health is miniscule so you do want to look to kill him as quickly as possible, or scare him into throwing out an unsafe lightning kick.
i don’t know much about Seth, but the last time i fought one, knee shot beat every single one of his nj-fierce and jump back fierce. im at work so ill have to try it later in training to be 100% sure.
I got some stuff on seth now, I’ll post it later on today. Also I got some good strats against Balrog, it makes fighting him so easy.
YES! Tell me more! Deejay’s one of my alts and I need one that I can use against Rog.
i gotta hear this.
Balrog
[]You can punish MP/HP dash straight with cr. MK or reversal upkicks. After a blocked dash straight you can st. MK (trades with jabs, beats his other pokes), jump on him, or back dash. You can focus dash straights and punish.
[]You can stuff TAP with cr. MK on reaction. After a blocked TAP lvl 1 or 2, you can do cr. MK/st. MK ( beats dash punches, trades with his jabs). After a blocked TAP lvl 3 or higher you can punish with reversal U2, reversal upkicks, or cr. MP > combo (unless it was well spaced and you?re out of range)
[]Punish all dash uppers on whiff on reaction with a throw, cr. MK, or cr. MP > combo.
[]Punish all dash low smashes AKA torpedo punch with cr. MK if in range. After a blocked dash low smash you can do st. MK (beats jabs and other pokes).
[]You can?t punish any version dash low straight on block. After a blocked dash low straight you can do st. HK (beats jabs and his sweep), or reversal MK/HK sobat (beats his heavy pokes)
[]You can?t punish any version dash swing blow AKA dash overhead on block. After a blocked dash overhead you can do st. MK (trades with jabs, beats everything else)
[]Punish his super with U2, or cr. HP > HK sobat
[]Punish his U1 with U2 on block, you can?t beat it on activation. You can stuff the last hit of his ultra with U2, or MK upkick > MK upkick to avoid some chip. If they do a random ultra you can jump out of the straight version to avoid chip, you will get hit though if they do the high version first. If they activate with the high version first you can cr. MK them out of it.

Also worth mentioning that you can punishing HP dash straight with reversal U2, or LK super, and HK dash low smash AKA torpedo with reversal U2. They probably won’t ever throw one out full screen though…
Alright so…
********An easy way to block all of Balrogs dash punches is to hold down back, and then at the last second switch to back + throw. If you do it right you should block all of his rush punches, and throw him out of his dash upper and overhead punch.
A good strategy is to find the magic distance. You should be just outside of your max cr. HK range. From here you have a few options:
[]You can n. jump safely (you?re outside of his headbutt range).
[]You can mash on cr. LK if he?s charging (stuffs all dash punches except dash straight, torpedo punch sometimes, and EX dash punches)
[]You can walk slightly forward and mash st. LP if he?s charging (stuffs all dash punches except EX ones). It?s good for if he likes throwing dash straights.
[]If he walks forward too much you can cr. HK or sobat him. If he moves forward it also means that he lost his charge and you can jump on him, and fireball him without worrying about EX. You don?t want for him to get too close though, unless you?re on the offense.
[]If you see him throw and EX dash punch, just block them. Not hard.
[]You also want to Focus every now and then, especially if he likes throwing dash straights.
You can also fight him at around full screen distance:
[]You can throw him on reaction out of all of his long range dash punches, EX and regular.
[]Throw out a few fireballs to get them to waste their EX, and throw them on reaction. It?s better to wait in down forward, so that it looks like your turtling, and so you don?t accidentally throw a sobat.
[]If they don’t have EX meter, you can just straight zone him, just watch out for TAP.
[]If they?re dumb and throw out a regular long range dash punch, you can cr. HK them on reaction easy.
ALSO You can meaty low attack him on wake up, because it beats non EX headbutts. You can safe jump all of them. And don’t be dumb and jump in on him if he’s charging DB.
sorry for making it so long lol. The first part is just raw info on punishes, the second part is strategy
so what do you think?
