^should post that in dee jays video thread
So… I was out for the last 4 days celebrating my birthday on vacation. I’ll post the Zangief strats on Page 1.
I have some new Guile strats after sitting in an endless battle lobby against a GREAT Guile for a few hours last night.
Anyway… I’m 27 now, and probably far too old to be playing this game so much…
I’m back now tho.
Against Guile
Good Guiles, like all good charge characters, will sit back on a d/b charge forever, opting to punish you for rushing in and run a combo rather than simply go out on an all-out attack.
Expect a lot of zoning pressure with sonic booms and expect to eat boots each time you try to jump in at him on your own offensive.
This is where baiting becomes your best friend. Knee shots, played correctly, will bait a flash kick. If you land at a good advantage over him, you can start your own little vortex or punish with a free combo or U1. It may just be me, but I have a hard time landing U2 after knee shot on command or reaction.
EX MGUs into EX DRS is my preferred method of punishing this if I don’t have u1 charged already.
Also, if they’re dumb or desperate enough to throw out cr.HK (double sweep) you can stuff it before the first sweep or block the first and counter the second with lk. sobat.
If he takes the offensive, you have him where you want him. Giving up that charge means he’s got to rely on some kind of mix-up or throws to score the damage. This is where you get some kind of chance to hit with your own pokestrings and combos.
That’s ridiculous. I’m the same age as you.
Do what you like, for as long as you’re alive, and you won’t have any regrets on death.
^i’m strongly against U1 against guile.
use U2 and punish a safe jumped flash kick.
U1 you have to react so quickly that you have to know and commit to a future boom.
I’m glad you brought this up. You can actually punish Flash Kicks with U2 on a consistant basis. Once you block the flash kick you can level 2 focus attack and crumple Guile every time ( yes… every time ). You then dash foward, charge downback, then wait for him to start falling and then input U2. But don’t forget that ex flash kicks hit twice.
At this point, I have switched out of only U2 to now only U1. However, I can see U2 being a situational punish like Akuma’s U2 against messiah kick.
u1 punishes Abels COD if he doesnt FADC out. you cant do that with u2 cause you lose the charge if you block the overhead punch/throw.
yep. i was doing a vid about U1 vs U2 but its getting pushed back constantly
U1 is great but you have to know when to use it.
Anybody have any balrog advice?
I have been avidly using U1 but only recently have been really practicing execution for U2 so from my many matches I have been able to get U1 off mostly as a reversal punish move. mainly does great vs fireball users to the point that if you’re bold and time well you can counter Ryu’s U1 from midscreen as the animation for the move ends and you time your execution well. against certain block roundhouse moves you can use it then as well. you can attempt to whiff a slide (again if you’re bold enough and know your range well) and execute it right after if you know they will immediately try to punish your whiff or yo ucan wait a sec and then punish their counter.
oddly enough I have had decent success using it during a blockstring when I have an opponent cornered and know the chip damage will kill them. U1 does great chip on block.
lol you’re telling the wrong guy how to use U1, but thanks. i have 8 hours of video that needs to be sorted of me punishing things with U1.
the slide ultra thing is a straight XBL scrub technique xD but you can catch good players off guard sometimes.
I always chip with U1
slide -> ultra2 is so consistent on Adon its fucking hilarious.
^ indeed. i wish it wash like that with every character.
You can also Reversal U2 after the first rekka, inbetween the second. U2 is also good after he does f. MK > dash forward. It stop pretty much all of his options after that.
U2 punishes so much stuff, especially if you know how to auto correct it. I use U2 for everyone except Akuma, just cuz his fireballs make me angry.
^ you can’t really know how to autocorrect. just get out of the habit of doing it on reversal.
^ Sorry what do you mean by “get out of the habit of doing it on reversal”? I’m a pretty solid U1 user, but I’m getting my MGU -> walk -> U2 hit percentage up and I’m looking for ways to work it in as a counter. Advice would be welcome.
Lol Let me give you a little example. Let’s say bison does EX Psycho Crusher. If you block and reversal U2 it won’t work. If he passes through you and you do a normal U2 motion you get reversal EX MGU.
Ok now say your around midscreen, he does EX Psycho Crusher and you block it, he passes through you, except this time you do a different motion. You go from DB>DF>DB>DF>UF PPP bam! you got a reversal auto corrected U2 that can punish an EX psycho crusher.
Normal U2 motion DB>DF>DB>UB
Auto correct DB>DF>DB>DF>UF
i don’t know how to do the stick arrows lol. Anyways its good against cross up air tatsus, and ground tatsus that fly over your head. I been catching people with them.
Thanks to Jcool, I can do walk ultra reliably now. AS a result of that, i point blank refuse to use it as an anti air/reversal (unless it’s off a big whiff) if you have the down charge, just use upkicks.
^ i love doing it as an anti air and i’m really happy i could help. Now to help the other DeeJay players.
As for no cigar. never noticed but i do mash it like that on crossup.
i stand corrected and tip my hat to you sir.
Jcool813 I read that and replied when I was half asleep…how I mistook your statement for a question I don’t know…
