Guys my scene is running an online tourney next weekend, and I’m going to have Honda, Juri and Sakura in my group.

Any pro-tips against any of these three?

don’t be afraid of anyone except honda. against honda don’t take any unnecessary damage and keep that down charge.

don’t be afraid to mk sobat sak and juri. well i haven’t gotten punished for it yet.

I played vs a Honda in a tourney and I won when I started to zone him all the time. Zone him all you can and use Ultra 1. You can punish his hard and medium headbutt with it.

Honda’s not hard, just keep him out with fireballs, and make him jump. Then you can do jump forward HK/HP whenever you see them jump. If that loses use cr. HK to anti air, until he starts using his jump chop which can beat it, at which time you can switch back to air to air j. HK when you see him jump. I think it’s pretty even matchup, just zoning and not throwing dumb fireballs.

I’m not so much worried about the character match-ups, but moreso the players.

In this regard I think the Sakura player is probably the best in the group (including me). If there’s any pro anti-Sakura tips, victory over him will probably guarantee me progressing onto the next stage.

Yeah, using this stratergy lately I’ve had a much much much better time against Honda players. Although I like to use U2 as I don’t let the Honda’s throw many headbutts anyway as there’s always a fireball on screen somewhere and I like the combo ability off of the slide and against buttstop/unsafe headbutting Hondas in the corner.

Against sakura, watch for the resets. You know they’re coming. If you know the sakura you’re going to be playing ahead of time scout them out and see what resets they like to use and how they use them.

while blocking I hold back , while I go for a tech Input , it looks like this

This way if I get the tech I get the tech… if not I get a free knockdown

What do you do against guy’s bushing flip elbow thing?

Nvm I tested it. Turns out well timed cr. HP stuffs the elbow drop ~100%, and also avoids the air throw, even EX throw. So in order of best counter for this move I’d say cr. HP > j. back HK > cl st. HK > cl st. MP

Wow. Thanks for that. I just kept doing lk.upkicks and obviously just getting hit all the time as he can change the height and distance as he wants. cr.HP is getting more useful by the day.

St.mp is the best option for flip elbow

Best to use a Crouching Normal that beats the Elbow. That way you only have to watch out for the timing of the Elbow and be immune to the Grab entirely. Use a Standing Normal and it may well beat both options but you’re adding a lot more timing requirement on your end of things. A Crouching Normal will evade the grab 100% of the time.

Anybody know if knee shot stuffs the active frames of Hakan’s leaping command grab or super?
I know I’ve beaten the startup of Hakan’s super with knee shot, not sure whether it will beat the active frames too though.

^yeah, st. MP and st. HK can get grabbed, especially by his EX version flip. cr. HP can beat all of them pretty easily if you time it right, plus it usually gets a counter hit which is 113 dmg. And if it does lose you get hit by the elbow, which isn’t comboable after.

If Hakan does an LK super, it would be immune to knee shot.

Dont let her bully you with her jabs.
its a bit tough to anti-air her j.HK if you dont have a down charge.
be very wary of c.MK
EX MGU can beat a lot of her options after a reset. her c.HP is balrog good (4 frame start-up WTF) , so dont really jump in.
if you block a spin kick, just block more, not too much you can do after it. she has no good block strings into spinkick, so you can interrupt them.

in short, let her come to you, since she will. punish her for doing so and then go in and mix her up once you knock her down.

MK sobat can be punished by Juri with LK pinwheel and by Sak with c.MK if shes in range.
Honda can punish with s.HK, but it has to be reversal timing.

I just beat Ibuki’s U2 with a silde. Damn right.
I just pressed the button and DJ was already in the startup when the ultra freeze happened. The first hit of her U2 whiffed and my slide beat her. I lol’d.

I have an o-s thread myself, check around in the DJ forum. Interesting stuff about the st. MP, cl st. HK will probably have the same effect for stuff like splash (but who does wakeup splash lol).

And there is no option select to punish Akumas teleports (either). Outside of the corner that is, because Dee Jay’s slide doesn’t reach. Mostly you can just jump in or w/e and o-s a dash.
