Dee's Nuts: The Definitive Match-Up Thread

Any advice on Sagat and Guile? I can’t handle them for nothing in the world… U1 doesnt help vs high level players…

U1 doesn’t help vs any Guile whatsoever. I think you actually have to use it point blank and before he Sonic Booms in order to hit the guy…

You can punish the double sweep with U1.

no cigar, he cant teleport behind you, so u walk forward

Ahh well I submit to your logic. You’ve convinced me. 7-3 Dee Jay for sure…I dunno why you’ve been having problems.

Random but everybody should start using Sobat Festival Ultra 1 to punish Dictator for ex psycho crushering out of the corner.

gets em everytime for like 400 dmg. doesn’t matter where you are… if he passes you, u can do it after recovery.

Any fei tips. I cross him up fearlessly but how do I keep him out? Do I have to bait the chicken wing?

Any 2 frame gap frame traps? The fei I played always mashed jab and short when close.

You can pretty consistently just slide under the Chicken Wing if he uses it to cover ground, and then just continue to run away.

If you have enough distance from him, slide will punish both EX and regular chicken wing. But most good Fei’s aren’t gonna do random full-screen Wings, unless they’re desperate.

The frustrating thing with Fei is that his normals OWN Deejay’s normals. You might as well set your mk button to No Function before the match, cause cr. mk will get stuffed every time.

I still haven’t found any solid answer to Fei’s cr. jab/short/strongs. If i have to press a button, i usually go with cr. mp. Also, i have this strange feeling that cr. fierce might have some use against him, but i gotta figure out what it is.

I know this is scrubby, but you can sometimes get away with 1 wakeup U2 in a match. Cause Fei players love to keep the pressure on your wakeup with normals.

Anyway, my current strategy with Fei is to just lame the ever living shit out of it. If you get him frustrated enough, you can punish a couple desperation chicken wings. But then he eventually gets me into a corner and i die.

According to frame data all we really have for leaving a 2 frame gap is Crouching Light Punch to Crouching Medium Kick. You could do crouching Light Punch to Close Medium kick but I can see you getting pushed back too far for that to be too reliable.

Against Fei Long you have to Guile it out. Cr. FP beats all chicken Wings. I repeat Cr. FP beats all chicken wings. St. FP beats all jumpins.

The most important things in the match is…

  1. stay out the corner
  2. don’t be to predictable with projectiles
  3. Fei Long can punish all sobaits
  4. Don’t mash. He is great with frame traps.
  5. Be cautious when he has full meter

^you can do cr. LP > cr. LK/cr. MK/st cl. MK all of which are 1 frame. Also you can just do a slightly late cr. LP > cr. LP.

After 1 blocked rekka, I believe your best bet is cr. MP, like plink it to make it come out on first frame after you get out of block stun. I’m not at my computer so I’m doing this from memory. It should beat most of his options. Also block, backdash, maybe even jump out. If he’s doing light normal pressure maybe you can take advantage of EX MGU/EX sobat invincibility.

^#5 of what Da Knut said is important cuz he can buffer super off of his pokes.

sweet. I knew there had to be something i didn’t know about cr. FP in that match. This whole time i’ve been trying to use slide against Wings like a dumbass.

Do you have any recommendations for beating Fei’s cr. mp? It seems to stuff everything.

Also, what’s the best way to handle Rekka-1 spamming? I know slide can punish it during its recovery frames. But i don’t have a way to deal with rekkas thrown right up in my face (i know lp rekka-1 is -4 on block, but it doesn’t leave him close enough for deejay to land any of his 3-4 frame moves)

I’ have a serious problem w/ scrubby Fei, because they out poke me AND I try to establish some spacing but they just throw out random Chicken Wings I block and I’m in “should I tech the throw, or just block” mode and they start doing shit for free.

That cross up chicken wing on me while I’m ducking is foulness too.

Some of the ideas you guys have sound good on paper but actually doing them requires reaction that an old fella like myself just don’t have anymore LOL.

Neutralizing Fei’s chicken wing would do wonders, but it’s too fast for me.

^If characters have moves that go through fireballs it’s good to bait. I’ll give you three situations.

  1. they expect you to throw fireballs so they jump randomly or do random chicken wing.
  2. you’ve punished their attempts to get in, they approach safely
  3. they see you throwing fireballs so they try to read your patterns and get in

the answers

  1. You stay defensive and watch their moves and counter
  2. You throw fireballs and zone
  3. You throw a fireball or two then watch their moves. Or you can do a st. LP or something to fake them out. You can also go offensive.

I hate the Dhalsim match with DJ. What I’ve been doing recentaly is just trying to knock him down. I’ll throw out random c.hk and c.mk to trade with his limbs. If you knock him down don’t waste your time throwing an AS if you’re 3/4. By the time you do that he’ll be up, just dash and rush in before he gets up and try and get in on him. DJ’s AS is no good in this match really. It won’t get you anywhere. He’s a terrible match for DJ to be honest.

Anyways in other news I played several matches against WorstGiefEver and it was good. I learnt a few good tricks to keep him out. st.HK is a good poke that is very long. He U2d my lk sobat which was fucking hilarious too. I’ll see if I still got them on my latest replays and try and get them uploaded so people can watch. My combos were ass during the matches because I crumble like a dry cracker if I’m playing some very good players.

You’ve just outlined my general weakness as a Deejay player. When characters have fast or weird arch jump ins I get my ass kicked. I don’t know ho react to the randomness. I don’t want to hold DB because if I miss time or screw up the charge I eat bad damage. Then I get put into a position where I’m allowing jump ins and dealing w/ frame traps and block strings and throws.

I don’t want to be trained not to throw fireballs against those types of match ups, but literally that’s what happens and then it puts me in to extra defensive mode. The sad part about Deejay is that the normals that are WICKED good fake outs have just as bad recovery as actually throwing a fireball LOL.

Does c. HP really beat Chicken Wing clean, or do I have to have the eye of the tiger to do it consistently?

Deejay’s dash is so bad he could probably slide faster lol

Just use his air throw. But you have to first remember to select Guile

Your words make baby Jesus cry.

OMG I got so excited when I saw the first part as I thought there was something I was missing or it was like “Use his air throw when Arcade Edition comes out!”

BOO THIS MAN!!! :sad::sad::sad:
