DeeJay General Discussion

LOL valle is so free in that match.

Unfortunately I only placed 4th but I’m pretty happy with that. Furthest I’ve made it at WNF. 'til next week.

that shxt was frustrating to watch. good job getting 4th, but there’s a couple of things i’ll recommend. just hear me out.

if you don’t have dash ultra, then learn it. you burn too much meter to play Ultra 1 and you don’t zone or manage your meter well enough. When you did have a full meter you never confirmed into super -> ultra. Instead you burned it on fireball fadc which isn’t bad, but has to be done at the right time. If you do it then do it like you did in valle’s match towards the end, where you know the opponent’s character can’t do anything about it. you NEED to add sobat pressure to your game. Work on your spacing and try to add some zoning to your game. Work on your “vortex” and block strings. Against Bison you could punish all of those head stomps.

i’m being hard on you because i see an early me in your deejay and i want you to succeed. I’m in an area where deejay can’t get the spotlight because we’re too busy streaming marvel in the east coast. nobody out there (WNF) knew the deejay match and you could easily get first or second if you up your game and learn more matchup specifics.

I can dash U2 but I am an arcade player mainly and the timing is different. I also use it in the Ryu matchup because that’s one of the matches I feel comfortable dash ultra-ing through fireballs and punishing sweep.

Since the timing is different I just use it for chip kills etc.

I also kicked the bad habit of sobat-ing too much. This was a case because I the group of players I play against kept punishing me. I gotta work it in more to see if people punish accordingly/have an answer for it.

I am a regular at WNF/Super Arcade so some people do know the matchup. Guy has little exposure at the arcade & against Bison I’m used to playing VicTheSlick and not the turtle style of Hugo.

I don’t know if I would call Hugo a turtle. He just plays safe/smart. I’ve seen him maul people with a multitude of characters including Bison.

Also I should be at WNF next week, so someone will know the deejay matchup

NERF BLANKA

fxcking pissed i lost a local to my friend Manny because the TV had a little lag and was recorded through a pvr adding a little more delay.

everybody was saying it was fine, but when you play a character with 2 active frame AA and have to be precise you need things to work when you press them.

Ok, so brackets are made for WGC in Cannes. I have to play Kayane, a pretty solid chun-li player. Wish me luck. (I friggin hate this matchup)

Good luck man, I’m in pool 9 playing Quakeulf first. Not too sure who he plays.

He plays in my team 3on3 lol. He plays t-hawk afaik. Good luck to you also!

Played her at EVO she doesn’t know the matchup. Good luck.

alioune lost to a deejay on stream o.o anybody saw it?

my french sources have told me that i am better and so are the other top american deejays, but i want another opinion.

I feel like the lack of match-up knowledge will soon disappear in the next few months. People are starting to become somewhat accustomed to DeeJay.
I been playing too much KOFXIII recently, I’m not on these forums as often as I want to be :frowning:

Am I the only one that thinks the Dhalsim match is 6-4 in Sim’s favor?

Sim has beaten deejay in every game they’ve been in together as far as I know. It’s winnable. Get in and stay there.

Deejay isn’t as bad as most of us think. We just need a decent ground wake up option, even if it can easily be OS’d.

As for people catching on, every time I play somebody new they are surprised by standard gameplay. He’s not catching on yet. Towards the end of this game’s lifespan he’ll still be least played, unless a pro picks him up or somebody takes him far in a major.

I think the west coast deejay’s have a better shot at taking deejay far in a major. East coast top players play deejay’s counterpicks. West coast doesn’t know and plays characters that we can beat or don’t complain about from what I’m seeing.

DeeJay can go far in a major, but that depends on the brackets. The DJ player has to really understand the matchups to the bone and if DJ run into a bad matchup, hopefully the opponent doesn’t understand the matchup. I am very confident that I will make it out of pools at FR this year, even if Japan is in my brackets. My only problem is myself. I need to stay solid and stay away from bad 50/50 situations

Have you guys gotten better vs people that can deny you of your pressure?

Yes, I have multiple degrees of pressure. You need to either redefine your game or switch styles mid game.

If people are good with dealing with my pressure I usually end up zoning or throwing more often to get them to press buttons.

It really depends on the character.

Da knut, you can do it. It really does depend on the bracket. With deejay there’s no gimmick to run to. You have to play the player more often than not against tournament players. I should just do a video about this because there is just too much for me to type on my phone.

The Dee Jay player who beat alioune was Afii from uk. Spoke him in Cannes and he performed nice in the team matches. He also bodied like 3 good dutch players in team 5 vs 5 with his Dee Jay.

He had to play tokido in the very first match in solos, unluckily. Afii was in our hotelroom for a few hours just to play some casuals along with f-word, rmz, andreas and ryan hart. Really nice lads.

I had a great time in Cannes and learned alot. Lost from Kayane and Sharin in pools, but thats fine with me.

I’ve seen Afii on the armshouse streams before.

Was at the big tournament in London before Canda Cup and ran some casuals against a few Dee Jay players, I think Afii was among them. If I’m not mistaken I think he was actually in my pool, but switched to someone else instead of going for the mirror (I want to say Ken, but I’m not sure). In any event I got blown up at that tournament after taking an early lead against F-Word.

I think he’s a solid Dee Jay but haven’t seen enough of him to know whether he’s groundbreaking or top-class. I think I can beat him, but that might only be because I like my odds in the Dee Jay mirror.

In any case, if he’s beating Alioune then I guess you need to keep your eye on him, eh, Jcool?

I was in the crowd cheering him on out of Deejay solidarity. They were great matches. I was rooting for him to OCV Belgium.

The Ireland crew I was with said they had never seen me that hype.
