Btw our dutch team didn’t look that solid maybe against uk, but most players did really solid in solo. MBR finished 12 in solo’s (he beat Elive|RF for example). Chaoztheory won from Problem-X but lost from Fudo after finishing second in his pool. Robin won from Gagapa in pools but sadly lost from Fudo in the final match of his pool which he almost won.(Failed execution of a option select, while Fudo only had a real small amount of HP left). Emersion beat Kenpachi and Yamazaki in his pool. Our players didnt play bad at all, I think Afii just was playing really solid.

Well, i’v seen him play for 2 hours straight against many good players in our hotelroom and I am impressed. He showed me some option select video’s he made (not to be found on youtube), and did multiple dash ultra’s in many games just like that. He really plays a mindgame and knows his matchups. I think he is the best Dee Jay in Europe. Too bad Renegad dropped Dee Jay and went back to Rog, since he also was a top DJ player from Europe.
I also played a very solid Dee Jay player from Italy btw. Same guy who played Dhalsim on streams during the team matches 5 vs 5.
That’s Chunkis, he wasn’t our Captain, he even didn’t enter any tournaments. He’s more of a Mascot. Not so much for Ireland, but for Chunkis. This may make sense since you’ve met him
Shame we didn’t get to meet up Foamo, I saw Quakeulf around all the time, and I spoke to him regularly. I asked him to introduce us a few times but it didn’t end up happening. We were all at Cannes Beach yeah.
Also, you think Cammy vs. Dee Jay is in Dee Jay’s favour? I’ve always thought of it as an even 5-5. Dee Jay’s lack of a good reversal really hurts his ability to withstand a Cammy rushdown with EX Cannon Strikes, and Cammy doesn’t have too much trouble escaping a Dee Jay vortex, or getting in on Dee Jay if you’re smart about jumps. Cammy definitely wins the mid- to long-range footsie game, and her damage output is much bigger.
On the other hand Dee Jay has good tools to pressure Cammy himself, and if you’re good you can keep Cammy far away with Max out and keep her out of the air with knee shots and your superior air-to-air attacks.
What’s your appraisal of the matchup?

Just got blown up so damn hard at a local tournament in London. I swear the setups they had were screwing me over. Just come back from Hong Kong arcades and I was really feeling myself, hitting my 1-frame links into cr. mp and hit confirming into super, all that shit.
I turn up to the tournament and I can’t even finish a jab string into cr. mk. My jumps feel sluggish so I can’t space knee shots and crossups correctly. WTF? I’ve never experienced a setup that felt so different, and I’ve played at friend’s houses, arcades, and a couple other tournaments.
Has anyone else had this problem? Apparently this is one of the biggest and most regular tournaments in London, and I really don’t want to go there just to get exposed every time because my links work at home but not in the tournament.
WinnerStaysOn? I attended a while back couldn’t finish any of my combo’s even the easy 1’s into cr.mk. Blamed it down to tournament jitters since no1 else seemed to have a problem destroying me. But yea those setups sure do feel different to what I normally play on
I’ve had that problem, I play on a 40’ HDTV (Don’t have a choice…only TV in the house haha) its laggy as shit but I got used to it, so when I go to locals and play on the small 20’ lagless moniters it feels absolutely retarded ;/
I would’ve blamed it on tournament jitters too but I had this problem when I turned up 2 hours before the tournament just to run some casuals. That’s when I noticed something was seriously off.
DJ is an asshole to Cammy. She has to make silly risk to get in or try to play footsies (which isn’t her style). DJ can out footsie her and Cammy can not capatilize off knockdowns and herp derp like she does 95% of the cast. DJ upkicks and cr.fp-tech throw shuts down stupidity.
Not only can DJ mix up Cammy, DJ has ambiguous crossup setups that are hard to block and Cammy has to take a risky dp at the correct frame. If she is lucky, she escapes if she is not lucky, DJs j.mk will stuff her and DJ can get big damage or go for another untechable knock down and reset the whole situation.
Lost to a guile player who I was clearly better than because I want to play my character and not counterpick.

What happened in the match? Guile’s always a tough matchup, what did he do to beat you?
I think I’m going to switch a lot of my attention to SFxT too, at least for a while. I saw that Hwoarang’s alt is a Dee Jay costume, and from the events I’ve been to I like how he plays, so I might play around with the colour palettes and keep the rhythm alive with Dee Jay even though he’s not on the roster in SFxT.
Now if only there was a way to fiddle with the sound files to make Hwoarang say “HEY!” every time he throws out a kick.
he did nothing special besides walk back and chuck plasma. i played my hardest. gave up some rounds out of anger. caught him with raw U1 twice. deejay needs guile’s fireball charge time. then the fight would be even. i was actually up at one point. then got angry when he realized that deejay is free to standard guile gameplay.
I don’t think you hate Street Fighter, Jcool, lol. I think you just hit that point where you realize that some matches will be undeniably harder than others simply cause of the character you play.
This might sound completely unrelated, but this is why I enjoy Marvel and KOFXIII to an extent. You got the freedom to pick any two characters you like and enjoy playing, then pick a dominantly top tier one to make your team all the better.

So, who is switching to SFxT, and who is gonna keep playing SSF4? Fact that Dee Jay is not in the game is a bit off a disappointment for me.
