I went from 2700pp to 1800pp just off of being forced to play people ranked so much lower than me who played ALL my bad match ups. It was disgusting. I had to pick Rog back up to salvage my points back, but I don’t know if it’s because I don’t understand SSFIV fundamentals or what but I feel like I suck at this game right now
Couple that with the fact that matchmaking in this game is complete bullshit. I try to play people the same skill or better and end up getting put up against some fucking asshole w/ 10pp and 0bp who’s downloading porn while they’re playing me… lose 100s of pts, then get matched up w/ 2-3 guys who are playing yun yang and wipe me out or some other bad match up. Then when I get myself settled I can’t connect to any matches to redeem myself.
I’m gonna learn how to play a top tier character. I’ll still suck at SSFIV AE in general, but at least I’ll have some crutches to mask my inner scrub.
That’s why they say dont take online too seriously. Hell, I actually came into contact with someone I believe was using a lag switch…I didnt think people actually used that shit for fighters…The guy was green bar and the match played perfectly fine until I knocked him down and he had to start guessing…It also seemed he was able to move in the lag alot better than I could…To this day that guy is the only person I’ve sent true hatemail to.
…For the most part I dont even play ranked, anyway.
It happens, mate. I went from 3050PP down to 2150PP in about an hour a couple of days ago, and it sucks. Personally, my win % vs. Bisons is about 30%, and I went against three. Add a good Yang, and then I lost a couple of matches just out of frustration. But to be honest, I’m not even near the point where I can start blaming the character more than myself for my losses. I can beat the people I’m losing to just by playing better. Now I’m back up to 3000PP, and looking forward.
Also, Thunda made a good point (although I never condone hate mail lol). No reason to get too upset about your PP total. There are a lot of intervening variables that stop it from being an actual indication of your skill.
You know what’s funny? I play other characters online sometimes and when I start to lose some points I’m like “Fuck this, back to DeeJay. Time to wreck you fools.” But as people have mentioned, online is whatever, unless you’re playing good people in Private Matches in Endless. Still a lot of variables that come into online play that make it less than ideal, but it’s still a great learning tool.
Now, please take this as a constructive criticism, but I think that you’re really stunting yourself more than helping yourself by stopping playing DeeJay because of having to play bad matchups. I wince every time I have to play Akuma, Bison, Fei or Makoto (I’m not really afraid of the twins lol), but it’s a really good oppourtunity to test my mind and my matchup knowledge. And it’s way more satisfying that way than to say “well shit, he played Bison so now I’mma pick Rog.” Because what are you really learning other than how to NOT play the DJ v Bison matchup? And if your “counter-pick” fails, then you really missed out on a chance to learn.

almost had a good clip against an adon, but online gameplay and my eagerness to land U1 didn’t help.
Not going to comment on the Deejay’s at devastation, but so far i don’t like their playstyle. They’re not bad they. Just disagree with what they’ve done so far.
To be fair, even if they did c.mp, ex-mgu to world peace I don’t think that’d be enough to impress you J!
