namja you’ve got it wrong. lower invincibility is increased and airborne state is gone. airborne state being gone makes it throwable. I still can’t figure out why capcom did that. i think that would have made him B tier with all of the other buffs.
against Yun, i speculate using a slow fireball to force him to jump while you walk behind it and AA with st. mp
Not really. He can just palm to build meter while you’re waiting for him, close distance with EX lunge punch (+1), mix you up with Normals/Throw/command throw/Dragon/another EX lunge punch, whatever, the guessing game begins.
Yun can do everything and has an answer for everything. The only hope when facing this thing is that the player controlling him will suck.
Yun this Yun that. We need to worry about Yang, Fei Long, Sim and Adon. Those matchups are hell. And no you can’t keep Yun out forever. He can build meter from across the screen faster than Super Rose.
Those matchups may be hell but the players behind those character must be solid to be really scary. Yun on the other hand (ah, I just saw on the frame data page that lunge punch got feet invincibility too, wtf ?)… And I ve got the feeling we’ll see less Sims due to the twins lol…
By the way, I m happy we will be able to punish Abel’s Kick Wheel with standing light punch - Light kick Sobat. Can’t wait to see the training room tuesday…
Saying LK upkick is not punishable is like saying LP shoryu is not punishable. It’s going to be harder than you think, its like saying since LK upkick beats divekicks DJ wins the Cammy matchup too lol. Cammy is even at best, and not even cuz of divekick its cuz of o-s cr. HP and his other zoning tools. Its negative because of her other tools like ranged pokes, which I’m sure Yun will have too. Rufus matchup too, it’s not just cuz LK upkick beats divekicks. LK upkicks isn’t a good wakeup option, you rarely see anyone use it on wakeup unless you can see a bad timed safe jump or something.
But yeah, what can DJ do against Adon jaguar kicks? If they are spaced good they are hard to beat. It’s like every match I try and see which normal I can stuff them with. My old research says cr. HK, or nj. HP/HK at a body distance will trade/beat them, but idk.
I have problems in the Adon matchup. Also the Guy matchup. There are a lot of great Guy players in the UK.
I’m not mad about ex lunge being +1.
That space will/should be taken up with an air slasher.
Cammy matchup is only bad if the cammy player is one dimensional at getting in. I think the match is going to be even because of her normal buffs.
I dont use upkicks to beat jagga kicks, i find ex sobat works way better, upkicks u can get faked out with him surprisingly close to you and eat a mean punish. Adon’s recovery is just long enough that ex sobat will basically hit him anywhere he tries it. Im pretty happy about jab to lk sobat against abel wheelkick too hyunsai, that is by far my most hated match in the game. As for as Yun goes, deejay has the plus of generally not being free to jumping ambiguous vortex shit so thatll help the match, but yun does appear to be too good, I guess we’ll really start to see tomorrow.
Anyone know what time the download will be available? I wanna be in there asap.
Thought I was the only one using sobats to beat them. Verify’s explanation is the same as mine.
Well, after testing some stuff in the lab, what can I say…
Few things that are better and useful for me :
- Slide is definitely better. Good stuff.
- lk. Sobat after lights is a blast, trust me…
- I suck execution wise, so I didn’t do much knee shot before, I always did a jumping light kick at the worse moment. Now it’s 100% guaranteed because of the new input (down back), and with the charge, new combos after.
Otherwise :
- I don’t understand yet the juggle property and the purpose of close HK.
- I have some difficulty to charge doing cross up mk, st.mk, st.mk combo after first hit, so I don’t think I will really use this.
- I succeed in doing machine gun upper, dash Ultra II for the first time of my life lol ! But like I said, I suck at this, so I will never be able to do it consistently.
I did dash ultra and knew it was sloppy input wise, but it still came out.
Low execution players rejoice.
Yep. I did it sloppy as hell and it still came out. Piece of piss. Also, first player I fought in Ranked was a DJ. Luckily he was just on the bandwagon, he was no good. I don’t think we’ve got anything to worry about.
I keep missing them when the ultra comes out. I dash when I see djs hand come down… Still nothing

Lol you made it sound like we’re some secret cult. Its going to be hard to respect some new djs
Yeah unfortunatley for me, I have the Digital DL version of SSF4 and its a problem for us since AE wont work for it.
However, I am excited to try and hopefully do the dash U2 now, should be fun
Also, to those playing AE already, are there really a lot of new DJs?
I dont really think the new changes to him are enough to catapult him that much in popularity but idk
the buffs have spoiled me. i’m once again ass. i’m already mediocre, but the buffs have carried me throughout the day. Got rewarded for too much sloppy play.
I’m diggin this stuff. I haven’t touched my stick in a couple months so its rough, but this new stuff feels good!
Deejay feels a bit different, but some matchups feel pretty much the same. Completely missing the throw invincibility on LK sobat, I thought Jcool was just crying but he was telling the truth, it hurts big time.
I did okay though for a first day, mostly getting back into the rhtyhm and by that I mean zoning till we all fall asleep and then occasionally doing some jump in combos. Did they change some of the data on sobats? Most of them feel alot more safe, but then again Yun’s lunge punch looked safe at frst and then I was reversaling that shit like it was Tuesday (cause it was.)
Got straight up merked by Da Knut though, I meant I know I would’ve fared way better if I had stopped slacking and actually practiced alittle bit, but it was even worse then I thought it was going to be.
