I hope far standing strong punch works against the twins as anti-air and their ground game. That would be nice.
i think he’ll be fine. far st. mp is great against far angled jumps and its not bad on whiff if they try a short dive lunge. lets save the speculation. AE next week =)
I think we all might need 5 hours of the training room before we play our first match lol.
xbl party?
That would work
if you’re down at FREEJ4Y
i’m trying not become an elitist, but there are definitely going to be new people in this thread. I like our tight nit group.
I used to have a similar mentality then I learned a lot of characters can block things both ways, so trying to mix someone up and potentially putting myself in the corner to do so became a bad idea. I diagram everything out now.
i’m not saying i’m completely clueless. i’m just saying i guesstimate my spacing.
idk about the whole Yun matchup, but DJ does pretty good against divekick chars. He’s got that crouch tech o-s cr. HP, and his fireball is better now, and dash U2 combo will be easier. He’ll be better at zoning.
As for me, I’ll be continuing to play DJ in AE, and learning Dudley and Yun. I might play other chars for the matchups I don’t like with DJ.
Yeah, the crouch tech o-s is good on divekick chars. On divekick characters without command throw, ah ah ah…
yeah old lk sobat would be great vs. them.
Here’s a heads up for you guys that I don’t think anyone realizes yet: Yun and Yang can not dive kick against Dee Jay. His AA special beats it clean, no trade. This alone makes him the best character to zone the twins out. Not sure if anyone has played against the twins and already knew this.
i assumed it did because of the hurtbox diagram that released on the capcom blog.
Good news. All they can do now is try and bait it out and punish.
What can we do against that meaty palm thing I think Yun does, can’t he do a fake one too to bait wakeup SRKs? We can’t upkick it, that’s too obvious and punishable if it whiffs. I’m thinking EX MGU against their wakeup palm bullshit. Get them with that into Ultra and it should stop them. Also, if they do a fake one and block the MGU you can just mash it and it’ll be safe(?).
Man I want AE bad. Anyone know what time it will hit XBL for download? (GMT)
ex dreads should work vs meaty palms since its a projectile, works vs command throw as well if they telegraph it.
i really want to test cr.fierce vs yuns ex lunge should stuff it clean if the timing is right.
At best , it would trade. That move beats everything. If no trade, you are just getting hit with another lunge or if in the corner, his U1 - not worth the risk in a fight.
Maybe cr. HK or cr. MK could low profile lunges, like how it works with Rogs dash punches and TAP. Also maybe cr. MP with its improved hitbox. Does anyone know if it’s projectile invincible?
And what’s so special about upkicks beating divekick? LK upkick beats like everything, most invincible AA moves will beat everything if timed right? Thing is you’re not always going to have down charge, like you throw a fireball and he jumps over it and divekicks. Then he’s on you and you don’t have charge. There’s other stuff you can do, but I’m just saying the matchups won’t be DJ’s favor just for that.
against Yun’s divekicks, its pretty hard to react to it… especially since he can do his divekicks pretty low to the ground. only after a long pause and an instant mk or hk divekick, can ex upkick catch it… Ex upkicks can catch them as they even touch the ground as they are sorta negative.
maybe psychic cr. hk slide beats dive kicks as it is active but if they just block and it whiffs, you eat a target combo and possibly into genejin.
cr. hp OS is bad bad for yun because of all his good normals like cr. lk, cr.lp, cr.mp, st. mp… yun doesn’t need to do dumbass two divekick in arow shenanigans. He can dive kick once, and you block, and he does frame traps all day. If you keep blocking, guess what you’ll get? a command grab. very good guessing game for yun.and bad for deejay…
going back to honda ex headbutt lol. covers overheads, lows. crouching normals. and other dive kicks yey.
on a side note, since the lk sobat’s lower invincibility is gone and he can be thrown, do not try to do lk sobat against Sagat’s low tiger shots. you’ll just be eating clean damage.
lk upkick/mk upkick, seems to still be beaten by meaty throws. =( even though it said invinc for lk all the way. ex upkick, or ex mgu or tech is only way against meaty throws.
When did lk Sobat lose lower invicibility ? I only saw it’s no longer airborn…

Well, if anything, it says the invincibility lasts longer.
Of course you won’t have charge all the time, I’m not talking about mashing out an upkick. I’m talking about spacing and wake up options.
And no, other AAs DO NOT BEAT YUN DIVE KICK. I’m speaking as someone who has played AE enough to know this is true. If Yun does a dive kick on top of your head or right in front the opponent, the only other AA that will not trade is a ducking shoryuken. If everyone’s AA options just worked the way you are putting it, wouldn’t you see loads of examples in AE gameplay videos?
How the hell would that not be important though? Guile can’t really zone out out Yun because it is way to risky to throw out his AA normals because it will just lead to a lengthy combo. Dee Jay beats it clean and starts zoning again. Even Sim’s b.FK ( I think that’s the knee) loses to it unless timed very precisely (so if a Sim player does it correcly once, the Yun normally just does dive kick at a different timing and then hits the Sim). No precise anything needed for Dee Jay - if Yun does a dive kick at all, Yun loses.
I use Bison more than any other character and it’s a fight that makes you want to beat Ono over the head with a charred cooking pan. Early in the Super days, I used Dee Jay as a main and thought Dee Jay vs. Yun matchup was a minor change, but it made a hell of a difference. I’m just telling you guys that Dee Jay players will be fine because Yun can not get in without a dive kick.
Every matchup that Yun supposedly has a problem with are that way because he can’t just dive kick over and over and over and over. Unlike other reliable AA options, Dee Jay LK upkick will recover before he can do a thing. Dee Jay players don’t need combos, just decent zoning and patience. Dee Jay can get away for free and AA for free. The rest is learning to defend against Yun pressure. Once it’s done, you can back up and then Yun will try to dive kick (Dee Jay has a lot of air normals that will pop Yun in the face during dive kicks as well). It’s not like Rufus who has incredible range on normals as well. Yun just has dive kick to get in.
