I’ve been trying to practice it without the MGU as well and no dice. I’ve tried both the Dash and the Walkup, and no luck with either one. This is starting to sort of remind me of Blanka’s Hop to Ultra (but seems much harder). I’m going to keep cracking at it but I’m starting to wonder how practical it will be to pull off in a real match.
Can som1 upload a video of this combo with the inputs displayed to maybe help us with the timing? Or point one my way if there’s one alreay? Cheers
can someone confirm if this works on Hakan?
couldn’t do it. maybe its me.
Do you guys find this a necessary technique to be a good dee jay player?
EX MGU dash Ultra 2 does work on Hakan, I’ve done it on him in training before.
Nah he’s still great withought it, it’s just looks too sick and I love the damage u2 does
This is one of my concerns. I really wanted to pick up a character that has the ability to reliably combo/link/confirm into their Ultra. It just seems like a huge positive to have the option. However, I typically played Dictator in vanilla SF4 and with the exception of a Punish or Focus Attack or J.MP, MP land Ultra there weren’t many times that landed the Ultra, but I’m able to have decent success. But most importantly…Dictator is fun as shit for me to play and I’m really comfortable with the entire rest of his game. I feel the same way about DeeJay as well, he’s really fun to play and I like his game.
deejay really needs this to be good imo
sucks that its really hard!!!
thanks for the confirmation.
to answer my own question. i don’t think its necessary for DeeJay. He’s an amazing character; has strong combos, great normals, “vortex” (i still don’t count it). I knew this character inside and out in HDR. U2 is free in the corner and excellent as an anti-air (Jaguar tooth, Hawk dive, Juri’s Dive)
I dont think so, he can dash into U1 and his super. Another poster said to check Chuns setup to Ultra for Deejays U1 but he never elaborated. I never played Chun, so thats information that I am seeking out now.
It would be easier to do that. You have a better chance backing yourself into the corner and pulling off EX MGU into U2 off a cross-up then pulling off this finger gymnastics in an actual match.
No way.
I don’t even think the ex MGU dash U2 can even hit cody, can someone else who is better at it please test this? I tried it when he was just barely above the ground and it still didn’t hit, I think he actually gets pushed too far back.
im almost positive it does. i remember practicing on cody once and im pretty sure it did work. ill try again later tonight to make sure.
its not required to be a good deejay player but to be the best deejay player it is. you can win without it. but its a good skill to know.
but ultra 1 does have an unblockable setup so im not sure.
can someone pls upload a video on how to do this pls with inputs timing etc etc??? kinda getting frustrated lol
my key is doing the ultra like SPD with unbelievable fast motion (but smooth, or will miss :db::df:) and voil the ultra come out… my point is it’s “extreme” hard to do in the combo after the ex mgu because… of the tigh time to do this -.-, and sometimes i mess something, like the dash dosen’t come out, or the ultra itself make mine DJ jumping =.=,
It does hit cody. Just the walk forward U2 won’t work on him.
I pose a question to everyone:
Whats more worth it?
practicing dash to ultra 2 midscreen.
or practicing the unblockable ultra setup?
both of which come from a non-mash EX MGU, but which ultra is better? now that we have both of these?
my input: I believe the unblockable is better to practice. simply because we can now (sorta) combo it for FULL damage, AND we can go through fireballs. perhaps even after an anti air jackknife we can land an unblockable(?)
while people are showing in vids unblockable set ups off of techable knockdowns none of them work. This is because there are 4 frames to tech and it is impossible to know which frame they will tech on and as unblockable ultras are one frame things you can’t do them off tech knockdowns reliably, you have like a 1 in 4 chance even with the execution spot on.
the unblockable is reliable. ive pulled it off in matches with seth before. although that is an untechable knockdown. however your input is appreciated.
ok i got dash ultra in a fight against my friends rog but walk ultra didn’t work.
Can somebody confirm this?\
update:
got walk ultra to work
the walk doesnt go far enough after a hit-confirmed jump in combo. which is why the dash is so much more useful. if you landed a j.hp c.lp c.mp EXMGU, theyre too far to walk into ultra.
thanks for the input but in training i couldn’t get the walk to work.
