Dee Jay's midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2!

ah gotcha. i didn’t mean to sound like i was talking about timing as well. i know it’s obviously different, i was just talking about the literal input command and directional motion involved.

but anyways, it would be cool to see a tutorial for this on youtube. i haven’t had the chance to play super 4 in a few days or else i’d try and contribute. it’s only a matter of time before it’s totally solved though.

Ok I beleive I’ve figured out the timing… Best advice is to look at deejay’s frame data for information on his EX MGU since it will help you.

Startup frames for EX MGU: 12 frames out of 60
Recovery Frames for EX MGU: 24 out of 60

Hold the DB position after you’ve initiated the EX MGU for roughly 1-1.5 seconds approx. Dash in and wait until both of deejay’s feet touch the ground before going for the U2 motion (SPD + PPP) - note the spd motion shouldn’t be done extremely fast but in a smooth rotation. Also, it is best to watch the falling animation of the other character… In order to land this, your opponents body must be ALMOST touching the floor.

I tend to hold my stick with three fingers (knuckle ball hold) and when rotating or dashing I use my index and middle fingers. This is from the left side.

On the right side of the screen I use my thumb to dash and all 3 fingers to do a smooth rotation. Sound confusing? lol it’s rather simple just try it on your own.

I’ve landed this numerous times today using this timing method and personally, I think once you get this down you can do this in an actual match. I attempted during a match today and whiffed but it can be done with practice and determination.

Thanks FatalDmg, I’ll be adding that to the first post.

Also, from the way you describe your stick grip, it sounds like we use the same grip. I am absolutely terrible at getting the dash to come out after the EX MGU when I’m on the left of the opponent, though. Guess I just need to keep at it.

Yea no problem. I’d like for the deejay community to really improve their game, he’s a great character. I find it a bit troublesome on the right side since i have to rely on my thumb to dash out which can be a bit cumbersome at times.

The regimen I use to kind of balance both sides is to practice a combo 100-120 times on one side, then rinse and repeat on the other.

to forward dash from the left of the opponent I usually just angle my hand like I’m going to shake someones hand (except its my left hand) and tap the stick twice with the bottom of my fingers.

nice!

is it possible for someone to record a video of “inputs option on” of dash ultra along with hand motion on joystick side by side (dual camera)

Kinda funny, I have the exact same problem on the other side just cause of the dash seems awkward to move my entire hand that fast vs just hitting it over real quick with my thumb.

Thanks for the info though, hopefully I can pull it off now. If it’s actually reliable I’m gonna love Dee Jay, dunno though If I never get this down. Not bein able to combo into ultra has always been fail to me.

Yea no problem, I’m pretty confident that once people start to get the hang of the timing that it shouldn’t be too hard to pull off during a match.

One thing is certain though, that I’ve honestly pulled off more walk into ultras with deejay than his dash into ultra. If you’re able to trick your opponent during a match when you’re close, you can most definitely do it.

Well, after not trying this at all yesterday I can no longer do the combo. However, I did find something out that might help you guys with it. You can actually plink the PPP press with any kick. The way my hand is on the buttons, it’s easiest for me to use my thumb to hit LK for the plink. It works the same as any other plink, hit PPP and one frame later hit a K. It’ll register as PPP and then PPPK. Hopefully this will help people to more effectively activate the ultra after the dash.

dash ultra 2 is hard but i have it down DECENTLY now

my main problem was that i simply wasn’t dashing quick enough. from the right side i actually use my right hand to dash, then my left hand to do SPD and right hand to press punches

I can do it pretty consistently, the Dash Ultra itself. There’s no trick to it other than speed. I’ve had the Dash Ultra come out with my motion ending in Up-Forward of all places. Mostly what I do now is try to do the dash and then down-back to up-forward or up-back as quickly as possible while triple tapping PPP. If you don’t believe this method is sound, try doing dash Super or Dash Ultra 1. It’s the same principle to succeed. You just need to be fast and hope your PPP or KKK is input on what I believe is Dee Jay’s landing frame from the dash. I haven’t been able to get mid screen MGU to combo after the dash Ultra 2, but it comes out at least.

Edit:

I tried a few more methods, but with Turbo PPP macro’d. Regardless of where I end the direction, up-forward or up-back, precise input or an SPD input… it comes out, but I can’t tell exactly when the Ultra is activating, even staring at record. I suppose it isn’t speed with U2. With Ultra 1 and Dee Jay’s super, usually I can dash and triple tap and get those fairly consistently. Ultra 2, that’s when the weird property of when Dee Jay starts taking commands after a dash is puzzling me. Anyone got a 60 fps camera?

I’ve done it a couple of times, for me when it happened, it canceled out the dash, so it was like a half step forward and not the entire dash animation. Don’t know if that helps.
Hard as hell to pull off.

anybody else agree this is the hardest ultra setup in the game?

Ex mgu > walk > ultra is a lot easier

I don’t think it works on all opponents. Based on what limited testing I have done, Shotos seem to be easy to hit, but I couldn’t hit Hakan or Cody.

I thought this was insightful. I finally got it after I read this. Not to say I can do it consistently. I think inputting the PPP (for U2) is key. The way I input U2 after dash is the SPD motion (not the down-back to up-back/up-forward like Corrosive suggested… I’ll see if that works better for me though), but I would press PPP before I hit up back. So… dash -> :df::d::db::l::3p::ub:

Tapping the PPP multiple times can help too. Even if it does feel like you’re mashing, you might as well increase your chances. Yes, you do have to do it fast. And when people say “smooth” I think they mean make sure you’re getting the right directional inputs… because smooth is kinda a bad term to use cause it’s not really clear.

Now getting it consistently, I’m not there yet. =[

yeah

i au=int working on gief or t hawk but fine with ryu

yes its a lot easier but its nowhere near as useful. it doesnt land on everyone, and against a good player when are you going to land a non-jump in, non-hit checked EXMGU?

I have to say I’m on the verge of giving up on this one. I truly believe that Capcom overlooked something on this one, because it’s irregularly difficult to perform. I’m not even talking about with the EX MGU, I just mean vanilla dash Ultra. I can’t do that, Dash Ultra 1, or Dash Super. I can perform it with every other charge character in the game, all of whom I don’t even use save for Guile. Something is a bit wonky with this one, I’ve tried absolutely everything and I have never done it.

^ This. It almost seems like it would be easier to get your opponent in the corner and do it from there.
