Dee Jay's midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2!

the walk one isnt as viable. the dash to ultra works on every character all the time from any EX MGU, the walk one can work on all characters from a perfectly close MGU, and only a few characters from sllightly further away. The ddash is the best bet

Sorry if I’m over analyzing, but it’s impossible for me to go from downback to dash without going neutral first. That being said, I try to go neutral for a split second right when I think the MGU is ending then I proceed to dash. My question is how lenient is this timing? Also, when you guys are practicing this do you always practice with MGU or c.MP xx MGU or do you just do the motion raw starting with the charge to dash and not hitting the training dummy?

Also who else thinks it’s funny that DJ went from one of the easiest chars to combo into ultra (EX Sobat crumple) to probably the hardest through the development stage?

a couple things.

I’m pretty sure it’s something about his dash that makes it tighter to do…

The reason I say this is because I play honda and can dash ultra 100%.

To see if it was me not being able to pulll it off or Dee Jays weirdo properties I selected ultra 1… and tried the dash ultra. Same command as Honda. Couldn’t do it… AT ALL…

NOW. The most annoying part… I use an input trick for consistency that hellps me a lot. I have trouble going from DB to F,F (i sometimes go past neutral and hit back which causes a back dash for some silly reason… you can go from DB,F,B and thats a backdash shortcut… which is annoying when you don’t want to back dash)

(oh and i should say that DeeJays ultra 1, and 2 come out no problem for me when he BACKDASHES this way)

SO… I found a reliable way to get rid of that…

HOLD DB…
Press FOCUS (at the same time slide from DB to DF)
SLIDE back to DB
then to UP FOWARD

This eliminates accidental backdash and dashes foward 100%

from there with Honda I hit 3p when he lands and BOOM

with DeeJay it’s like 5%… what’s the deal?

why I find this ultimately irritating is that i can do it 95% of the time from the DB,F,B (backdash method)

Back to the lab though…

Fyi, doing dash ultras with different characters, the timing is different depending on how fast/slow their dash is. So even if you have a lot of success with Honda’s dash ultra, it doesn’t necessarily mean you know the timing of other characters’ dash ultra. So yeah, you’re right about the dash making it different with Dee Jay. With Dee Jay, his dash is more like a hop. It looks fast, but it’s actually slow, hence a lot of people are giving tips saying to do it more precise, with a small delay, etc.

But… I still don’t know… I can do a dash U2, I just can’t do a dash U2 after EX MGU cause I’m doing it too fast (not enough charge?). I’ll go back to training mode late today. =p

Out of 100+ tries yesterday I randomly got a dash U2 once… and I don’t really know what made that successful attempt different from my other failures. I’m almost 100% positive I’m losing charge before inputting the Ultra, and I think a video with someone displaying the inputs or an off-screen video of someone’s hands would really help me figure this out.

I understand that Honda would be different from Deejay…

What I don’t understand is why i can BACKDASH U2 100% of the time (from both sides) and FOWARD DASH U2 about 2% of the time…

There shouldn’t be a discrepancy like that…

I only point out Honda to show that the reverse motion (from the backdash) is in fact viable in this game…

I just don’t understand that if the backdash motion works with DeeJay AND the foward dash motion works on other charge characters…

what’s the deal?

I’m gonna quit on this for a bit… tons of other stuff to learn with Dee for now

Has anybody found that they attempt the dash ultra with the right motion but they just jump? I immediately tried it with guile and I got it on the first try… interesting

Yup, as soon as i finish dashing I jump back instead of ultra… This and his stupid link are the only things I have trouble with.

I ahev the same exactl problems!

I’ve been trying to do this all day and only hit it about 2-3 times (speaking about the dash ultra, not the full combo)

Still gunna try to learn it though.

I think tried it around 1500times now. I would kill for a video of someone’s hands when they do it. Preferably one with slowmo as well

Well i just did the dash ultra about 5 out of 20 times… I almost had the MGU -> ultra 2 but did it like a frame too late. This is gonna take practice! The speed is a bit slower than i expected

Im also successfully back dashing supers and the ultra 1 but cannot forward dash a super or ultra 1 consistently. I’m getting 1 out of 50 on the attempt to forward dash to super/ultra 1, this blows!

I practice the full combo (J.Hp, C.lp C.mp xx EXMGU dash ultra) and i get it very rarely. sometimes it seems that i dont have enough charge because ive tried it waiting for a while after the EX MGU and when i dash i get it, but then its too late and i just whiff.

seems almost like capcom didnt want this in the game and tried to get rid of it, so its very awkward but still works sometimes. like ryus trade DP to ultra (Yes ive been hit by that. its still there.)

this input is almost exactly like guile’s FAD>Ultra. well not almost, it is. this is pretty cool. i was thinking that it should be possible to EX MGU into U2 without being in a corner, and i even made sure dee jay could do the same FAD>Ultra, but i just didn’t connect the two… but anyways, this is good. i was needing a new trick to work on!

EDIT: just so people don’t get confused, i’m not saying EX MGU>FAD>U2, i’m just saying the dash+ultra input works the same.

I can do this about 100% of the time now. It just takes a little practice. What I realized somewhere through my training is that I was inputing the commands too slowly (even though I thought I was doing it pretty fast). So, I guess what I’m saying is:

If you’re not landing it consistently, do it faster. If that doesn’t work, DO IT FASTER! Trust me :bgrin:

p.s. This kinda reminds me of the good ole’ third strike days, when I was learning standing/walking gigas with hugo… My arm is starting to hurt just thinking about it…

Honestly, I’ve done walking xx ultra 2 and it feels so much easier for me… To each his own.

ya it definitely wasn’t intended to be in the game but it is. i’m done working on practicing this it’s a waste of time, damage scaling makes it not even worth it and it’s a waste of your ultra IMO. 400 damage big woop if you just ex MGU full hits into ex sobat you get 300 and you put them in the corner (that’s deadly on its own with Dee Jay). why would you even take the chance of wasting an ultra that can AA somebody for half their health

Try the dash to ultra, can’t do hit, i think i’m too slow…
i want to try the walk to ultra, what are the inputs please ?

u have to be standing at the very closest distance possible when you do the ex MGU (no comboing into it cause of pushback) to do the walk ultra. if any1 lets u hit them with a raw ex MGU at point blank range they suck pretty bad anyway :stuck_out_tongue:
