Dee Jay's midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2!

I think you misread what I wrote. I was only talking about the dash to the ultra which is the hardest part . I charge once ex MGU starts, because like you said, if you try ultra right after, ultra comes out. It’s the dash to the ultra motion that trips ppl up.

So I think once you do ex MGU, just practice the dash till you got it then put it all together. Take the whole combo piece by piece, and soon you’ll get it.

Sorry, you were right and I was mistaking  That is indeed the most difficult part because of the ridiculously short charge timer.

i am grinding my thumbs raw trying to master this technique lol

After the AE input leniency buff it’s a lot easier. All the posts on the first page are really really helpful.

It took me a week, on and off, to learn the timing and probably another week to learn the setups into ex mgu. You’ll get it

sometimes my u2 comes out when I input downback -> downforward ->upforward. the official motion ends in upback, so does this mean it only needs the up motion to complete (if that makes sense)?

Here it is! I’m sorry it took so long, I’m a busy fellow…
1. Master** ultra 2 asap after MGU** (meaning you have do U2 right after MGU animation ends, making the charge ready for the dash which you will practice in step 2.)
2. Master dash to ultra 2.
3. Master step 1 and 2 together

Troubleshooting.
Q: Ultra 2 won’t come out after the dash…
A: Most people go back to charge to late after the MGU which will make their dash come out empty since the ultra 2 had no charge buffered. You may also dash to late, consequently lose the charge before completing the U2 input.

**Q: **Ultra 2 comes out asap after the MGU, but when I dash it doesnt.
A: Your dash or ultra 2 input is coming out to slow, either making your charge timer runs out due to too slow U2 input or you’re dashing to late, also resulting in losing the charge timer.

Q: Ultra 2 comes out after the dash but it doesn’t connect**.**
**A: **You’re almost there! Congratulations on getting this far, if you repeteadly do everything *seemingly *perfect but fail to connect you’re simply about 3 frames to slow on either the dash or the ultra 2 input. Practice nailing the U2 the instant your dash ends, when you’ve mastered this it’s all about getting the charge just in time after the MGU, think of it as a 1-F link, the u2 charge to dash has to be perfect or it simply wont connect.

IMO the first three still pictures in this movie displays this perfectly, I managed to catch frame by frame on these and the bottom ones on the screen are impeccable whilst the top is just a few frames to slow :frowning:

The video quality is bad since it’s recorded from my laptops webcam, but I believe the video speaks for itself in terms of its explanatory purpose. It’s a simple comparison made to show how fast and precise the execution of this move has to be in order to work!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

I like your musical accompaniment for that, Parov Stelar is criminally underappreciated.

Good explanation BUFOTENINE! I still struggle with the whole thing, but it’s a question of getting the training in.

For now I’m having a hard enough time to consistently hit cr.LP xxx cr.MP link; see you’re using the cr.LP xxx cr.LP > EX MGU as well

Maybe it’s a stupid question but can’t you do the EX MGU just like you use Balrog’s Headbutt > Ultra by executing the EX MGU with Up/Back? Or is the game strict on the Down/Back charge for Dee Jay’s U2?

EX MGU can be done off down/down-back to up/up-back

U2 has to start on down-back.

As expected. I’ll save that training for a more rainy day…

It can come out either way. Whatever is more comfortable to you.

Parov Stelar is indeed criminally underrated, I love his work.

What cunningplanner said, the U2 charge is down back and the MGU down up, so this idea will most probably not work :frowning: But good thinking! Would have completely eliminated step 1 regarding the MGU > U2 charge

As to cr.LP xxx cr.LP or end with a cr.MP I always end of a cr.MP if I crossup my opponent, since a good crossup is very ambigues I get some extra time to get the follow-up right, MGU or not! However when jumping head-on I usually go for the 2 cr.LP because I find it to be much easier online due to the lag.

So I suppose it’s a matter of preference, thanks for the feedback everyone!

You can execute MGU with down back to up back. This helps the dash U2. Thank the game’s really lenient inputs!

hahaha just nailed my first ever ex mgu dash u2 online, and the guy was already in the corner anyway xD

Wow, I finally got it down three times in a row on both sites :D.
Didn’t read the full thread, but what helpef me a lot is.

  1. Pre charging !!! For the ex mgu press: down charge, ub, db, pp !! (A trick I learned from sonicflash youtube channel (Guile player).
  2. The shortest Tiger knee ultra motion. Insteadt of going, db, d, df, db, d, df, f, uf use the shortest motion possible db, df, db, ub
  3. The dash must bee performed quite fast out of the db charge, but just the motion! you have to wait a little bit after mgu.

Best tip was, to press ppp when dejay reaches the ground again after the dash ! This made it possible for me to get the best timing.

So what I do (facing to the right):

ex mgu (precharge), hold db and wait a bit. Then fast ff , db, ub and double press ppp once he touches the ground again from the dash !

Didnt made this actual in a match, which is much harder due to adrenalin or I dont know, but could perform it in training mode quite well  .

you don’t even need to actually pre-charge, but on pad it helps you get in position for the dash easier.

there is plenty of charge time believe it or not.

Hi DJ forums. I’ve been practising this combo for ever since i got new controller. I was hoping that there is someone here who can tell, how much U2 down-back much be charged in frames? Also I noticed that U2 leaves you VERY close to opponent and good opportunity for meaty. Any good setups off post-ultra which hasn’t been mentioned in stickies? I’m fairly lowskilled, so pardon my newbiness.

I personally find it easiest to do a 360 to up forward after the dash. Usually a double tap on ppp. Gives you more chances to hit it. I cannot do the upback version, as shown in my tutorial.

I find it easier as well to not be tense after the exmgu. You dont have to tap dash super fast. You just have to time it right. Smoothness over speed.

Ps3 version you must dash sooner. 360 you dash after the last hit of mgu, ps3 before. Not much of a difference, but its noticeable.

Anyone ever noticed that if you dont input the down+back after the dash to U2 motion, the ultra doesnt commence? Ive tested this severeal times now, and to my enlightenment, it’s actually fairly easy. The charge is no problem, the dash is no problem (From the right side of the screen for me) but the down back motion doesnt get recognized. Either my inputs are to fast, or I love the down back after charge altogether. Either way, that down back is idiotically important.

Ok so one of two things happen for me. 1) the ultra comes out, but doesn’t hit 2) A j.HP comes out :frowning:
