Dee Jay's midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2!

Dee Jay’s midscreen EX MGU Dash Ultra 2 can this be done on a ps3 pad?

Yes.

Every now and then when Ultra 2 decides to come out, it misses. I think I am throwing out too many hits causing the opponent to be too far. Back to the lab

Just watched Dug’s video and it helped me a lot. I managed to pull it off during my lab session tonight pretty consistently. I play on PC with a PS3 pad and its a matter of doing a perfect dash like others have mentioned and perhaps wait a little bit before doing the dash, dunno the exact time I’d have to measure it. I uploaded it to show it off to a friend xD, but perhaps my inputs can help someone(it’s a pretty quick vid and after I did it I just mashed out of hapiness :stuck_out_tongue: it was like my third time doing it in a row so it felt pretty good) :

Thanks for all the tips shared in this thread

i remember my first dash ultra reminisces

Ugh, if only I could do air slasher u1 online…

For some stupid reason I have a harder time doing dash ultra then i do walk ultra, but walk ultra whiffs every once in a while on certain cast. Does dash ultra hit on everyone? Also thanks for all the info in this thread, I’m gonna try the dash to rolling J motion when i get home.

Dash U2 hits the whole cast

actually i’ve missed well timed dash u2 against cody fei adon and some others

too many buttons before the ex mgu is still a bad thing

I am starting to get the muscle memory for dash ultra 2 so now i can hit it from both sides. But my consistency is a issue that I need to work on.

I can hit the dash ultra 2 no problem when I’m in training mode. I know the timing and everything. Then I get myself an EX MGU in a match…well let’s just say it’s a toss up between no dash and ultra, dash and no ultra, dash ultra but no hit and sometimes I hit the dash ultra. Most of the time I dash I know when I did it late or not; I think knowing the timing is the most important part because then you can try to replicate it every time.

Ya I am starting to notice where timing is becoming a factor I will have to add that to my training.

Sometimes I don’t even press all punches because I know I already dropped it…

I’m catching myself either pressing the punches too early or doing the the montion after the dash too slow

It’s definitely much easier in AE2012 but it doesn’t mean you won’t drop it. You just gotta grind it out like everything else ^^

The incompetence is overwhelming in this thread, j/k…

There’s three vital steps on mastering the dash U2:

  1. Master the U2 input
  2. Go back to charge IMMEDIATLY after hitting up for MGU, or you won’t have the charge in time for the dash.
  3. Dash **IMMEDIATLY (when possible) **after the MGU, if you dash to late, you’ll miss the ultra.

Other…notes: Complete the rest of the motion during the dash, the instant the dash has landed you must hit PPP.

Tips: Master the U2 input, practice the charge > dash motion on both directions since it must be flawless. Practice dash > U2, the Ultra must come out asap after the dash. Finally, practice MGU > dash > U2.

Troubleshooting your attempts:

  1. If your U2 doesn’t come out after dashing you’ve either screwed up the input, or more likely dashed to late, thus “dropping” the charge. If this is the case, practice charging U2, walk forward instead of dashing and do U2, by doing this you’ll see how little time you have to complete the dash and input, if the U2 still isn’t coming out, you’re still screwing up the input or doing the motion to slow.

  2. If your U2 doesn’t come out right after the MGU animation, you’re pulling back to slow on the charge, meaning you would be dashing in without the charge ready in the first place.

Happy dashing!

Also you cannot mash for extra damage on EX MGU if you’re doing for Dash -> U2

Just practice one step at a time, DVD then slowly work your way up to the whole thing, and you should be fine. The hardest part I think is the dash after MGU but there’s a slight pause between the end of the animation and you beingable to move again, which you got to watch for.

There are excellent YouTube videos that helped me out alot with it do search on that and you’ll get it.

True, but it is possible to mash out the extras and walk up U2, depending on distance after MGU, with a early J.mk > c.lp > c.lp/mp you’ll be able to walk up and ultra on all characters except Cody. When possible, I prefer walk up U2 before the dash, the dash is however good to learn in those picky situations when the walk up probably won’t cut it.

Also, regarding going neutral or not before dash is optional, personally I don’t do it, I find it to be much more difficult than just slapping out a dash from db. I’d suggest going neutral before dash if you’re really fast, otherwise not.

Note: I’m a ps3 controller user, I will be uploading a video regarding this matter soon since everyone seems to be using sticks :> This video will also display the miniscule difference between a “late” dash and a perfect dash split screen.

This is false, as I earlier mentioned this would be you going back to charge to late after the MGU, therefore not getting the charge in time, if you have this problem, practise getting the U2 asap after the MGU, until you manage this all day long don’t even bother with the dash part.
