i want to tell people not to worry but i don’t want people to think “oh its free in AE”. Its not free in AE. If you can get it atleast once a training session you’re probably going to be in decent shape. if you can’t get it at all keep putting in work.
^ exactly.
we know its adjusted, but we dont know exactly how it will work. you still need to be able to do the motion correctly, and time the actual input im assuming.
itll be easier, but it damn sure wont be “free”
I’m about 2/10 on it now so I should be ok I think. I don’t want it to be too free anyways, really. Not as easy as Guile’s or Bison’s dash ultra because anyone can do those in their sleep. A little harder than those 2 and I’ll be happy
in a sense its like plinking. you still need to know the general timing to get it right.
Hi guys,
I’m new on the forum. Hello everybody
I started to play dee jay 2 weeks ago.
I’ve been reading some stuff on the forum about this MGU - ultra2 and I watched some videos as well
First of all, thank you all for all the helps.
I tried on training mode to do it, and here are the results:
With the dash: really hard to land, because the dash has to be really fast and the execution, timing of the ultra has to be perfect. I can do it like 1 on 10 times to be honest. I think the dash is the hardest part.
Without the dash: just by walking, way more easier. I can land it like 8 on 10 times.
It’s better to do it this way, because you don’t have to worry about dashing really fast and have a perfect timing. Of course you need some training before to do it perfectly.
Wait that the animation of the MGU stops then walk a bit before the opponent touches the ground, then do the Ultra.
Reading this thread helped me a lot, but I had to try it by myself to see what was the easier way to do it.
I would like to help you people, by saying that it’s better to forget about the dash-U2 because the dash can screw it all because you have to do all the combinations really fast, and I think that’s the big problem if you want to land the ultra 100%
Thanks to all of you.
the problem with hit confirming into walk U2 is that it doesn’t always land and usually pushes them too far. if you manage to get a raw U2 i wouldn’t doing walk to be safe, but the reality is its not that easy, especially in a tournament setting. Its just easier to learn dash because it works everywhere midscreen and increases your overall comeback potential.
Dash u2 is way better than walk u2 cause it hits everyone no matter how far you landed the ex mgu. The issue is that dash is 20x harder than walk u2. If you know which characters and which distances u can walk u2 from it is completely dependable. You’ll just have less opportunities to attempt u2 if you only have walk under your belt.
I fixed my issues with walk u2 on stick and am back to being near 100%. dash I’m still working on but Im getting close to where I feel I can break it out in matches. I just can’t time the damn ultra input consistently no matter what method I try, I think I’ll have it soon tho.
I was playing around the other day and ACCIDENTALLY got dash U2 to work. I was only half paying attention and it worked. Was unable to replicate the success.
Then again, that’s how DJ’s c.lp > c.mp link was for me originally and now I’m pretty consistent, so that gives me hope. And I swear it’s entirely the timing on the button press that gets me.
Yep. It was the timing of the punch that got me success too. Even when you realise that and figure out the timing it’s still silly hard to replicate that timing lol. Damn thing.
i can actually do a dash to ultra pretty good with double tapping…but doing it from the EXMGU , just seems to never come out. it has to be that i dont have enough charge, or something. i really just dont know.
its probably you not doing the motion right or pressing the button at the wrong time. thats how I am right now. Ive honestly stopped messing with it. lol
is akuma in the HARD timing for walk u2? I can never seem to get it against him.
no he’s like the other shotos.
Ok I’ll keep on training on this dash U2. Is it working on every character? The walk is not, isnt it?
Dash U2 works on everyone.
Walk works on a lot of characters with a point blank ex mgu. no hit confirms or they’ll be too far.
Damn! This is hard!
so i think my problem is definitely with the quick dash. if i try to let my stick go to neutral, sometimes the stick will go to up-forward because of the spring of my HORI RAP. I’m working around that, but this still seems near impossible. whats is the best frequency you guys can get with this? is there another character with a similiar but easier combo i can practice with? should i just give the fuck up and stick with balrogs combo to headbutt to ultra 1?
i have finally achieved a somewhat consistant ex mgu dash u2. I hit the buttons when it physically looks like hes at the right height for the ultra to hit, and it hits. No double taps, no plinks anymore that shit wasnt help me that much. I think im starting the dash, i guess when hes putting his arm down. It feels good to be hiting it over 50% right now, i gotta go to work now so i cant even work on perfecting it anymore today =[
^ i’ve said that before.
when he’s swinging his arm back. the only difference is the way i explained it would be better suited for PS3 users as opposed to 360 users.
its so easy to do on PS3.
360 is a little more difficult
hmm oddly after a year of trying to learn this dash u2…i have finally succeeded thanks to hours of training and reading this thread. I found that it was actually easier for me to land on xbox than ps3 because of the 1 frame diff in the system.
Id have to admit also that in AE the timing on the dash u2 is a bit different than the console version.
though id thank you guys in this thread because you guys truly helped me through my frustration with deejay
360 is a little more difficult
I still cant do it two times in a row in training mode. I usually play with a two bar(yellow) connection so I dont even try it online.
respect to all dee jay players who can do this consistently. we almost play without ultra. no easy set ups, no cheap damage either.
i came in here to tell everyone that i can now do dash ultra on both sides for free. i figured it out and i’ll be making a video with a better explanation than my first video.
