Probably better to start a new shared doc and preserve the AE one for history’s sake.
The only new thing for me lately is versus Rufus, I find them baiting me to reversal or stand with a far neutral jump and delayed divekick.
I’ve moved to st.hp for that situation as it stays active and goes far forward, but perhaps that is also something that’s more common knowledge.
Standing Anti-airs have been much more common for me now with st.mp.
I don’t think any Deejay can beat my Blanka in a set, that matchup is godawful not winnable unless the Blanka makes mistakes.
In those situations, I’ve always used cr.HP or far st.mk. They are more consistent because of their hurtbox and start up speed. Cr.HP is the best anti dive kick button.
cr.HP is the BEST button. period
Low fierce is a decent button, and imo it should have recieved the startup buff over stand strong. It would helped with deejays combo damage, stun, and ground pokes all at once.
It would also make him a somewhat viable counterpick against divekick chars.
This question has probably been asked or something, but how does one go about handling a keep away or a run away character? I know you can just be patient, jump over or ex the fireballs, and combat them with dee jays fireball, but I get bored of doing that stuff. This occurs mainly when I verse guiles and poison, for they have a fast recovery when they throw out a fireball. Can someone help me out?
Deejay rarely, if ever wins the fireball war against pure zoners. You have to go in, and then you get killed for doing that. It’s fun to play Deejay
Sit back and throw plasma. Build a super bar and make sure you maximize damage.
If you are bored from that, pick another character.
Knee Hop is your most unique and equally offensive and defensive tool, use it for movement versus zoners.
I have some luck with Knee Shot, and I try to not get too far out, so I can punish poorly spaced fireballs and pokes. It is tough though, I have a hard time against Guile Etc. I use Ultra Combo Double, so I can can punish with ultra 1, but still get ultra 2 stuff also.
Against Hugo:
Maybe it’s already known by the good Dee Jay players here, but I spied a bit in the Hugo forums and found a Hugo player complaining:
“EX legs can hit Hugo while he is crouching.”
Oh, Do you/they mean EX upkicks? I haven’t tested it…but since he’s so huge I can see that working. I wanna say that I hit someone with regular mk upkicks
once while they tried to cr jab me on wake up. So far, Every Hugo player I’ve faced has hated Deejay. But I’m sure once I play the really good ones it will be the other way around.
Sometimes strange things happen to hitboxes regarding JM, for example I was playing around in TM against Cody. He was set to crouch, but after a cr.mp I was able to connect mk JM on him (but no juggle afterwards).
Might be the case with other characters, too, but I think its not practical enough without the hk JM juggle to carry the opponent into the corner.
DeeJay’s EX Upkicks can hit nearly the entire cast while they are crouching ( maybe not Blanka? would need to confirm ), it’s the ‘low profile’ moves that give him issues and cause him to whiff.
The MK upkicks can hit a few cast members crouching, but it isn’t very consistent and you need to be spaced appropriately, so yeah don’t do this.
Jacknife (Ex and regular) has never been able to hit crouching characters. The only exception to this is Hugo.
That’s simply not true. When Dudley does his meaty low setup (sweep, kidney blow x2, cr.short) to DeeJay EX Jackknife hits Dudley even though he is crouching. If Dudley does cr.jab instead, the EX Jackknife will whiff. There are several moves that EX jackknife will hit while opponents are crouching. It’s just move specific and most likely due to those moves expanding the char’s hurtbox vertically in some way.
Yes it´s true. You won´t be able to hit crouching characters with any version of JK (except Hugo). Thats what he says. Certain actions may alter the hurtbox of the opponent, but thats not what this is about, since its only about crouching characters in general, without pressing buttons.

Characters that get hit by ex upkicks when crouching
Abel, Sagat, Gouken, Dudley (depends on the button spacing and timing, Rog, Hakan, Hugo, and Zangief.
there’s ways around it for those characters tho.
Noob here.
What am I supoused to do against DeKappa and Rolento. I can presure Rolento somewhat. But DeKappa got that magic DP that hits front behind and halfscreen away. Both have super safe BS I cant punish at all to. Cant even FA fish on Rolento cause his retard roll is armor breaking.
DeKappa feels Hopeless, when scramble beats Uppkicks.
Edit. Got it explained to me how i should prolly aproch DeKappas Poundgame better and that regular pound is -9. That just means I suck and need to work a lil harder.
