Decision 2008: The Presidential Election Thread

I dont know. SRK just doesnt seem like a place where I can here interesting political commentary. shrugs

If Ron Paul wins the nomination it will restore my faith in humanity.

Well it’s subjective obviously, Ron Paul to many is a racist theocratic isolationist hack. Not that I want to get into a debate about it but I’m glad he’s stuck in obscurity.

About Kerry, what Ross said is true and it was pretty surprising to me that he bounced on Edwards. I guess he’s trying to help someone he feels has a chance to actually win though.

Ron Paul is racist?

no me too.
but it’s quite natural for black people like you and me to think of this considering…

The only one of those traits you’ve listed that makes Ron Paul particularly unique among politicians is the “isolationist” part.

^ Yeah I heard he said something along the lines of “Blacks stop rioting in the 60’s just in time to get their welfare check</Chappelle voice>”

I mean he is an old white man so it doesn’t really surprise me and vaguely changes my opinion of him, I just wish the hipsters will stop popping boners over him.

its all about perspective. Are you going to get the over 40 perspective on SRK? No, of course not. But you can get a slice of what the younger, more progressive minded crowd is thinking. Now we’re also the same people who never seem to make it out to the polls, but this election (with the strong possibility of either an african american or a woman as the demo nom) MIGHT be a lil different.

guiliani is laughable tho, the daily show showed clips of him basically whoring 9/11 after losing to huckabee then mccain. i think the best thing he can do is quit while he still has his dignity.

if this election was held 9/12/2001 he would have won tho.

Proof or it never happened.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Fine it never happened, I don’t care, I’m relaying what I hears:arazz:

I heard Obama is racist and he’s a puppet of the Bush administration.

The opinion of twenty somethings on politics is as useful as an illiterate Russian’s opinion.

Useless.

They don’t know much about the issue at hand and even if they did they aren’t going to show up at the polls.

US politics have been bad for a long time and the only thing people ask about is if a black man or a white woman can make it as head of state. Come the fuck on. Every other western country has had a minority as head of state. America isn’t special. We are so enamored with Obama that no one has pointed out that he has NO PLAN.

America has a lot of problems and no one here even comes close to talking about where they come from. I’d rather keep SRK as the place where I can shut my brain off at the door because some of the unprocessed thoughts I read here (left wing and right) make my eyes bleed sometime.

i still don’t understand why ppl are talking about “…if ron paul doesn’t win this or that.”

i mean…do you HONESTLY think he could be the republican nominee? i’m mean for real, though…?? its wishful thinking at best. yes, you need somebody on that side to speak about what he’s speaking about and to be heard on national television but do you REEEEAALLY think that he would be the nominee?

I don’t know, but I’m doing whatever it takes to get the word out.

Do you honestly think the majority of adult voters 30 and above are any better informed or have spent any more time formulating an educated opinion?

Do you think it was the 20-somethings who were primarily responsible for getting Bush into office the last two elections?

Correct.

Kerry even paid Diddy to do/support the whole “vote or die” thing with the subliminal message that war is bad. They got the whole young generation but most of them just rode the bandwagon and didn’t vote. So in the media it seemed like Bush was doomed and then out of nowhere… it’s like… OMFG… Bush WON… OMG … how?.. .wtf

It’s a little naive to think that

a) most n00b-aged voters have an adequate grasp of the electoral process and the politics surrounding them

b) the voters that put the President in office make informed decisions to the benefit of the US as a whole

My point is that generally speaking non military 20 somethings dont vote.

There are uninformed people in every age bracket, but I think people with families and a career are going to think more about politics than you’re stereotypical SRK poster. note I am aware their are a lot of mid career members of this board.

I think it’s basically two categories.

Those that pay taxes and those that don’t.

I think CNN could really shake things up if they did a “politics for noobs” television show targeted towards young people.

MTV tries that shit but viewers can smell the forced opinions given off by the channel (Gay rights is the most blatant)
