Who wants to sign up for a sunday Soul Calibur 2 side tournament? We had over 18 people last year including some euro players.

Out of how many people Kyle?

wait do we even have 40 people for such a match?

You get book your room now, go to the front page for more info

Also you can go to www.necphilly.com for more info.

Kenny just don’t talk.

and hubbs yes for nec we did last year and there isnt a doubt in my mind that we wouldnt have those numbers again this year

What would I have to do to earn on spot on the east coast 3s team? Im very interested.

Have you ever entered a 3s tournament in this past year?

i’m going to make a list of EC 3s players and try to make a 20 man list out of the best players. I still have to talk to some other players to see if they can make it out here as well.

Ok players the hotel group rate discount link is open, hurry up and reserve your rooms.

The NY vs. EC exhibition last year was hype but quite chaotic and disorganized. Why not try something different like a Co-op Cup 5 v 5 (preferably for money)? Or if you’re dead set on having a “east vs new york” battle why not reduce the number of players per team (8 vs. 8), reserve 5 spots on each team, then have 2 one-game single elimination tournaments (1 for NY and 1 for EC) where the top 3 for each tournament get the last 3 spots on each team. Regardless of whether or not you are given a spot on either team, there should be, at the very least, a $5 fee to participate in the exhibition. There are a number of advantages to organizing the exhibition this way.

  1. Getting 40 players to sit through a 20 vs 20 will be a nightmare (especially in this day and age when there are multiple tournaments being run simultaneously).
  2. Players on each side will feel like they have actually earned their spots. I don’t care who makes the decisions as to who gets reserved spots and who doesn’t because quite frankly I trust the judgement of most 3s players on the EC. But for those who don’t receive a spot, they get the privilege to earn one, which will make for a far more satisfying experience.
  3. Since most of the top players will already have spots on their respective teams, more players may be encouraged to enter the “Japanese-style” qualifier tournaments. Moreover, the “less-skilled” players will have an opportunity to play MORE rather than run the risk of going 1 and out in the 20 vs. 20. If time becomes a factor, then cap both qualifiers. Also remember that we have consoles now to run 3s.
  4. Let’s face it. We live in America and in America money talks. There should be something at stake (besides pride) in this exhibition to ensure that everyone involved plays to the best of their abilities. Without a prize, this exhibition might turn into one big trollfest. The last thing we need is players embarrassing others, themselves, and the game.

What do you think, Fran?

i like the idea that mutant is asking for but at the same time being a 2 day event doing a separate side tourny just for the spots on the team would be horrible since there isnt any time to get that done.

I actually have taken time constraints into account. Assuming that each qualifier has 16 participants (which is doubtful) running a Japanese style tournament to determine a top 3 only requires a total of 15 matches (14 to determine the top 2 and an extra match for 3rd place). The 8 vs. 8 only requires a min. of 8 matches (this is assuming that one team OCVs another which too is doubtful unless Exodus starts again for team EC) and a maximum of 15 matches to determine a winner. Even if we had only 2 Xbox360/Ps3 setups the qualifiers could still be run simultaneously to save time. If we can get a total of 4 setups I bet we could finish both qualifiers in an hour. We can also cap the qualifiers.

The alternative (20 vs. 20) is that we run a min. of 20 matches or a max. of 39 matches on ONE setup. This may actually take the same (if not more) time to do since we’re asking MORE players to stay at ONE place for a certain amount of time. Remember that there are other tournaments going on so actually breaking the 20 vs. 20 into 3 separate mini side tourneys may prove to be more convenient for those who are competing in multiple games. Asking players who are entered in other tournaments to stick around just to wait his or her turn in a 20 vs. 20 (for no money btw) is inconsiderate. By the same token waiting for other players to finish with other games is a waste of time.

there wasnt money in it last time and it got ran on 1 machine and went fine…this is just for love of the game last time i checked

'CE!

Last time I checked playing for money and playing because you love the game aren’t mutually exclusive. But whatever. I won’t go back and forth with random players on here. I just offered a suggestion for something different.

Yes CE I will ran the tables in that game.

Can we get a runback from 2007 in the form of Chris Matrix vs Mike Tyson’s Punchout! on the NES?
