As smart as she is I have to assume she gave him a fake name, in her situation I can’t imagine her truly trusting anyone enough to give them her name especially when she knows how he kills and that he can be literally anyone.
WORD, son. I love Death Note to death, but Monster is one of the greatest suspense anime I have ever seen. It’s so frightening because it’s so plausible.

TBH the anime lives up VER WELL to the manga even though it messed a little not-so-important stuff, still manga is worth the read ;).
quick suggestion: which fansub is considered the best for this anime? i’m interested in this anime after watching the first episode.
People need to stop complaining about what happens halfway into the series. It makes the plot original, unique and shocking.

Episode 7 was spectacular. As much as i dislike Light gettin rid of innocent people, he really out does hisself in this one.

Yeah. The 7th episode had me on the edge of my seat wondering what Light was going to do, and what was going to happen next. I felt that the episode ended too quickly though.
I can’t wait a week for the next episode.

I’ve been watching the anime and yes, it is a breath of fresh air that has been BADLY needed. the L Vs. Kira chess battle is pure beauty. everytime you think one or the other has just gained the upperhand, the next thing to happen proves you wrong. I love it. Ryuk is by far one of the best characters I’ve seen, and he doesn’t even do anything but make kira’s head hurt.
…well, that and eat up all the apples. I want to know what’s gonna happen when someone stumbles in and finds one of those apples going missing in mid-air. Ah well. I’m waiting for the next ep even as we speak. Stop kira or everybody gets DEAD!!!

I dislike Deathnote a lot due to the main character. From the get go he’s been an arrogant, privileged, self-absorbed know it all. He didn’t even seem shocked or scared that an ugly-ass shinigami showed up in his room outta nowhere. I think he said something along the lines of “I was expecting this” The art is also a bit dull and dark, with the same shades being used over and over. The mystery factor was very good with the introduction of L, but I was just too turned off by the bastard main character to continue.
well, that’s understandable, if you can’t like or like to hate him then it’d be hard to read.
As for how Light reacted to finding the Death Note, it’s not like it was portrayed as normal, most of the characters had already seen him as being insane. Near the end of the series a character says how any normal person would have tried it once out of curiosity, realized it worked, then freaked out and thrown it away out of guilt and horror. The most important point of the series then is in the first chapter or so when he realizes it’s real, almost decides to get rid of it, but doesn’t.
As far as Light not being surprised when Ryuk showed up in his room; I think that Light tried to play it off like he knew he was coming, to show that he wasn’t afraid.
I think you aren’t supposed to like Kira, I mean he literally is a mass murderer and despite all his talk about doing for a better world, the boy is something of a would be dictator.
His arrogance is a real problem, but I enjoy watching his brillance, even if he is something of a bastard. But from what I have read of this story, all the major players are bastards or fucked up pawns.
This anime is digital crack. I’ve been wanting more after each episode. Currently on episode 6.

god damn this anime is good and i just started reading the manga. Some asshole though over at deatnoteanime.com Has fucking spoliers about the manga in the title of his thread in the ANIME forum, pissed me off. Already 7 episodes in and Im hooked one of the smartest, intense and excting shows Ive ever seen.
Gonna check the anime out, can anyone suggest a good english fansub before I start randomly downloading?
I think Toriyama World and Live-Evil are the only two that sub it. Check death-notes.com for the episodes. The episodes they put up are usually by one of these two groups.
nope, Animanda is subbing it, and do a much better job than the groups you listed. I watch TW, but keep Animandas… subs suite the anime much better IMO
So which fansub group subs them the fastest and which day of the week are they released?
