Going through my subscribed threads…oh yea Death Note.
My English dub feelings:
Voices so far excellent!! especially L. Im a fan of Yagami Light of course–so watching it again in english is great. When i forget midnight on saturday i just hit up the adult swim website and Im all good.
Im just waiting for Death Note clothes that’s all. c’mon hot topic ya’ll should be all over this…lol.
The Director’s Cut edition has been subbed in english
finished watching the anime, some times confused. but dam this was one of the greatest animes ever. some things got me scratching my head though…
SPOILERS DO NOT READ**
Ok. Bear with me. So when Near called Yagami and was talking about the fake rule in the book, Yagami clearly asked Ryuk if this was true or false. Ryuk said its true, Yagami said its true, then Near said, “So you do have a shinigami with you.” I thought the team only touched Rems notebook? So why did he clearly talk to Ryuk in front of his whole team?
Also how many death notes were there? 1 from Ryuk, 2nd from Rem. An ugly shinigami came down and took back Ryuks death note which i thought was Lights. But then theres 1 death note locked up from Yagamis team and another death note which is being used by Yagami. Did they say the locked up death note was a fake? I remember it in the end, but I dunno if he was bluffing.
Exactly what was Mello’s role in the whole scheme? Just to try to make Mikami slip and go to the bank and grap the real note book?
Thats all for questions but heres some of my rants.
-THe series suddenly dropped after L’s death. They couldve went longer with the whole, “13 day rule” They should’ve let L test it and not just suddenly kill him off because of annoying Misa Misa. Dam she was annoying. It seemed like the rest of the series was rushed because there were alot of parts that left me thinking, what the fuck how stupid.
IE:- Raiding SPK right after Near said he was Kira. (I thought he wouldve thought about how coincidental this wouldve been)
-Takada hopping onto a strangers bike after the building has been attacked.
-Takada burning down the truck when she was handcuffed. WTF?
-Yagami acting suspiciously happy talking to Mikami and giving him strange clues of what to do. Then suddenly telling his team to turn off all cameras and bugs then straight up telling Mikami on the phone, “I am god” wtf?!
-I wish Mello played a bigger role. When he first appeared he was completely gay. Then after he got caught in the explosion and came back, he became such a a badass.
-Did anyone else catch that super erotic gay scene between L and Yagami? The music was playing perfectly in the background for it too. Then when L massaged his feet, and Yagami whiped his face dry, i was completely WTF’ed.
-I loved it when Kira finally got caught. I hated how once he was close to getting caught he did something else to make it look like hes not Kira. I wanted him caught already dammit. Great way to catch him though, pretty clever.

[details=Spoiler]I think there are 4 death notes in all… Ryuk had 2, Rem has 2, Ryuk gave back one to the Shinagami that helped out Mello, and Rem had 2 from Jealous who saved Misa’s life a while back. I think there is another one that was fake (I am not really sure)…
Mellos role was to give the rules of the Death Note to Near, and gave the insight that there is a possibility of a fake note. Kira writes in his Note that Takada kills herself by fire after taking out Mello (Instructed by Kira, after Takada kills him with her Death Note, )
Actually I haven’t seen the anime in a while, Takada had the real one right?
Anyay, Mikami wrote down in his note that Takada would die for the possibility of squealing… a minute after Kira did his stunt, that could only mean there was a fake Note rolling around, considering that the police tailed him…and Near did his whole “roll cancel psycho combo” in the end.[/details]
Yeah I like the English dub too and I generally don’t like dubs. They did a really good job.
Do they have the English Dub Dvd’s out yet? I gotta hit up best buy for some treats. Mad stuff always drops b4 the end of every year.
Dub is on point so far. I can’t wait this Saturday goodbye Ray…
I know the first volume is supposed to drop in November but I’m beyond broke so I haven’t looked at what came out this month. Lemme see…

Nah it’s 25, 40 if you want the Ryuk figure. Yeah you can go back to deathnote.tv until some fat man in a business suit takes it down I guess. 
just chiming in! my girl and i are watching this, and are up to episode 30 or so. i agree that it does go downhill after the incident with L and Watari but its still gripping.
im at the part where the kira show has surounded the spk building. that shouldnt spoil anything.

I thought it was great writing. L was just overwhelmed by light/ misa/ 2 death gods/ 3(?) death notes. Near and mello just level’ed things out. I don’t know if it was in the manga or not but near wearing an L mask in the anime at the end was nice.
Favorite part of the series was when Light was suprised by L. Light went on acting calm till he got home and then just snapped.

L pretty much had it all down, he already was suspecting that there were fake rules in the Death Note. The only thing that got him killed was the fact that he had no way of knowing of Misas/Rem’s relationship. Light was banking on it a little too much I think; Rem could’ve easily decided to kill him first before she ever went through with Watari and L.
There was a 3 hour after-series special that shows Light snapping(laughing like Iori when he gets caught by Near) at L’s grave with Ryuk.

Not bad. There’s production art and a 12 minute special with the American guy who does Light’s voice, Brad Swaile. Ah, he was the main character in SoulTaker, Date Kyousuke that’s where I heard his voice before. He was also Lan on Mega Man NT Warrior and Nightcrawler on X-Men Evolution. GO MARVEL AND CAPCOM! :rock:
The American Director for dubbing has a commentary on the first ep, ah man wish it was the Japanese director… He points out that if you pause the image of all the names Light rights in his book you can see names like ‘Mary Mary’ and someone with the last name Lancelot, it’s kinda fun. Whoa that bitch Mary Mary is evil and Sir Lancelot’s descendants have gone way off the honorable path…
The Director also wonders how Shinigamis propogate, hook up and have kids and stuff. Um, yeah read the manga… Well he’s only up to episode 8. :looney:
The ending was whack…in fact the 2nd half was whack!
