Dealing with bums/homeless people

why do some people treat homeless as zombies…

After a while they become a problem. Especially if you look like you got money.

on the topic of homeless people, what do you guys think of vagabonds?

Do what most people on these forums do in similar situations. Mash DP.

Just jump up and do :qcf:+:l: twice while saying “Get back!”. If they touch you it has invincibility so it’ll still hit them and it’s +20 on block just incase a few of them block.

Nah seriously, if you have change or a dollar, I’d just give it to the closest person. That way you’re helping while not likely putting yourself in their situation anytime soon. If you don’t, just tell 'em you don’t and keep moving. If they keep asking just flip out like “Damn it I said no. You think some change gonna just magically poof! into my hands cuz u keep askin for it? Bitch I aint no genie.” For added effect, you should say it like ur Samuel Jackson

Yeah, Austin has to be the bum capitol of Texas. I went there over 10 years ago and the only thing that stuck besides the pretty bangin college life was the bums. Dallas bums are low tier. A bunch of old white dudes, most of them really driving a Lexus parked a few blocks over.

I don’t usually mind giving change if I got it, and if the beggar doesn’t give off the vibe that he/she is going to go do something foul once they get a bit of grip. But if I decide that I want to refuse, one thing that has always worked is simply telling them that you only have your credit card. At this point, if they proceed to ask if you can BUY them a sandwich, etc., then it might not be such a bad idea.

There’s a total difference between someone asking for money(which you don’t know where it will be spent) and someone actually asking you for food. I can never turn this down unless I’m just broke as fuck that day.

But the ultimate game-plan bums run nowadays is having kids with them. I’m not as sympathetic to this particular situation anymore because once I gave $12 to a “homeless” man and the boy with him, ON THE WAY to my guy’s crib to pick up some cd’s. Thing is, my dude and his roomies slang everything. So you can imagine the “wtf factor” when I see homeless guy and kid trudging up the steps. Saw me and couldn’t even look my in my eyes. Bought his shit with his head down the entire time. Told my dude what happened and he offered to give me my money back but I was like fuck it. Needless to say, I never saw the man or kid anymore, at least around that area.

The line is becoming blurred between con-artists and true bums, especially in today’s recessed society when you have a number of people lazy as hell and trying to get creative with ways to pass their free-time and fuel addictions.

The beggars i hate are the ones at the 24 grocery store…They see me driving in my Bimmer & be like yo man can you spare change…Most likely i will give them some coins so they wont fuck up my car when im shopping…

Bums annoy the shit out of me. Most of the bums see around here are usually at the shopping districts or subway stations. In the one near me there’s always a bum staying in front of Burger King opening the door to people as they come in and leave and ask them for some change for their “service”. Some of them are rude enough to ask for change as your paying for your food. I ignore them every time. The subway bums are a little harder to ignore as most I’ve seen have a disability of some sort. They position themselves at the bottom of stairs or the turnstiles.

Where I live there used to be an arcade right at the downtown core. One time there was a homeless guy right in front of the arcade asking for change. I told him I don’t have any and proceeded to walk in. Didn’t come out until like an hour later, and he could see me the whole time with loose change in the arcade.

I kinda felt bad afterwards…:xeye:

we live in a materialistic world.

the majority of the homeless people i’ve come into contact with are drug addicts that can not be rehabilitated.

not to be rude but I think you’re the one living in a materialistic world

yes, i’m the only one :wonder:

I dont give beggars money, most of them make more than I do.

My basic flowchart is ignore, if they come up and ask I say no, if they try to touch I slap them off and tell them to fuck off. It usually works since I’m 6’4, 280. Never had a problem with bums trying to fight me.

I didn’t say you were the only one. I’m saying that’s your focus. some people have more important things to think about

so going around begging people for money isnt being materialistic? i’d like to know which planet you live on.

you’ve clearly lost focus

I live in Seattle. perhaps you’ve heard of it. we’re not quite as liberal as san francisco, but we’re pretty liberal and seem to like homeless people.

basically, I volunteered at the Young Adult Shelter in Seattle, which was located close to university of washington. There were full time social workers there on hand who worked in programs with the various homeless teens, helping them look for work as well as low income housing. they didn’t always succeed in getting the kids off the streets, but there were days when formerly homeless people would come in and give talks about their experience and the help they received. so it was good. i guess it just depends where you are. protip: conservatives hate homeless people, so don’t live in the fucking bible belt. actually don’t live in the bible belt anyway, because its filled with right wing religious fundamentalist moronic nutjobs who believe the earth is 8000 years old. did i mention they hate homeless people? which is funny, cause jesus was LITERALLY homeless. but i digress.

Here’s how you tell the difference: real bums don’t beg. The fuckers you see everywhere, if it was announced that a new, non-contagious disease showed up, all these fuckers would somehow suddenly have it, “need money for treatment, god bless”. Everyone out there is a fuckin’ grifter. The real poor get by with dignity. You’d never even know they were poor/broke.

I hate the ones begging in front of a liquor store. How dumb am I supposed to be?
