Dead Space 3 Altman be praised

They never were scary, just disturbing.

How many ways can you impale something through a mans ass and push it past his mouth?

Besides, once I get the Pulse Rifle the necromorphs are already dead.

What didn’t you like about the last chapter? That was the best part IMO, it really one upped itself and raised the stakes, that’s how the climax of every action game should be.

And assuming necros are going to be a lot more common than humans, how the fuck can you not be hype to shoot some unitologist ass after the grimy shit they pulled throughout the series lore. Those bitches need to get iron chef’d quick.

As scary as DS1 was I thought 2 was just on another level, I’m surprised anyone could think otherwise but that’s how opinions go. There are lots of design choices as well as the limited budget that hindered DS1 being as scary as it could have been, while 2 used that big fat check from EA to go HAM on the atmosphere and have lots of variety in the scare tactics. DS1 is one of my favorite games but it relied on jump scares and repetitive environments too much while 2 always mixed it up which was a lot more unsettling for me personally.

Plasma cutter and Ripper are what I used for Hardcore mode. At first I just put nodes into the plasma cutter and Pulse rifle but then later put the nodes into the ripper because like the name implies it just rips through shit like nothing. Its really great for the final boss(es). Little fuckers cant handle the ripper and you get more enemies per shot. Its worth it imo. And the plasma cutter is just a really good gun.

It felt like at that point, they just stopped fucking with you and just threw a shit ton of monsters at you. Didn’t care for the regenerator/ubermorph either. He was more of a nuisance than a legitimate threat to me. I think the problem with having an enemy like that, is that by the end of the game you’ve already become accustomed to where the monsters are coming from, so you’re kinda desensitized to him jumping out from nowhere: they all do. If it was there earlier in the game, stalking me like Nemesis, I wouldn’t even be able to describe the scenery, because I would have held run down the entire game. I guess he was there to help the pace of the game at the end tho.

As for DS 3, I guess I need to see more of the engagements between Isaac and the unitologists. As long as they act like people(before they turn) and not necros with guns, I’ll be happy. If they’re a minor issue and the necros are the ones I’m fighting the most, then I’ll be good. Been waiting for a horror game set in some snow for a long ass time.

im pretty sure in re4 i just ran around killing everything as well.

im super hyped for deadspace3. i recently played through deadspace 2 on hardcore mode and finished it 2 weeks ago. might actually pick up the severed dlc just because i like the game that much.

im outi

Roberth

but re4 was still better and far more interesting. at least the first time.

the whole partner thing is just…dumb for “horror” games. whats next…multi player silent hill?

I would actually like for someone to do co-op horror right. I see no reason why it couldn’t work.

“Where are you going [Isaac]?”

“I don’t know.”

Best moment in gaming history as far as storylines go. Such despair. So perfect.

Dead Space 2 is one of the best games of all time. If DS3 turns out to be half as good, it’ll be a must-buy.

Yep

Yes and no. Problem was that you got most of that from audio logs and such. I still have trouble figuring out the plot to deadspace because most of the storytelling is through audio logs. Didn’t find one? Get ready to be confused!

Dead Space 2 also had some light comedy or maybe I’m the only one who viewed it that way. Anyone else saved games just to see the cool ways to die?

Both DS 1 and 2 don’t really explain the marker that well considering how central they are to the narrative. I don’t think that’s much of a flaw if at all though, I kind of enjoyed how both DS games don’t shove a bunch of over expository dialogue at the player. The lore of the DS universe is very well realized and detailed I absolutely love it across all media. That being said its nice to know the marker will be explained more thoroughly in 3.

The audio and video logs are one of the best parts about DS, they really lend authenticity to the world and give nerds who like lore what they want. I could totally see how some people would be confused about some specific stuff without them but both games emphasize Isaac’s personal narrative so it’s not a big deal IMO.

I think I’m going to beat the game solo and than run through it on coop, anyone else getting it for pc?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

I am getting it for PC, but my friend who is a complete pansy for horror games wanted to try coop with it.

I think Dead Space Extraction did somewhat of a decent job explaining bits of the marker, during the course of the game. I could be remembering wrong tho.

ZOMGWTFBBQ!111!!!1!!!1!!1

Just got my DS3 demo code emailed to me it’s for 360 but who cares! Can’t wait till I get home!

How was the Severed DLC for 2? I

I’ve ruled out playing a demo for DS3, just as I did for the last game. I want it to be 100% fresh when I start it.

If this game falls flat, it will be the biggest ever gaming disappointment for me.

I liked DS1 a bit more than DS2. I’m hype for this game though, I’ll most likely play it on PC.

You?

I’m of the mind the co-op in horror can be done, but that it hasn’t been done right. Maybe Dead Space 3 will change that.

Well I played the demo alone so I didnt have a partner and the scares are still there. A good chunk of the rather short demo (shirt since I was enjoying myself and didnt want it to end) took place in a brightly light snowstorm, and of course shit was waiting to pop out and run you down around just about every corner. Feels like Dead Space, and I am pleased.

The weapon crafting dynamic is going to make things really fun. I ended up creating this machine gun with electricity that also put a little stasis slowdown on enemies.

I am so hype for this game. The first two are inarguably the best games I didn’t enjoy playing (on some level).

They are great games, but playing Dead Space is actually unpleasant to me, to an extent. I realize I’m in the minority, but these games really scare the fuck out of me. It’s awful, and great.

Remember in Dead Space 2, when you have to revisit that one location from the first game? (Spoiler-friendly)

I was like " D: " I stood there for like 2 minutes before proceeding. Psyching myself up like, “We can do this. Fuck this video game. I’m not 6.”

Ugh.
